Here is another indoor houseplant tour, featuring my living and dining room area, in my downtown Toronto small condo. I’ll also show you guys how I go about styling my plants and placing them around my condo. The challenged with being a crazy plant person living in a small space, is wanting to have a lot of plants, and at the same time making sure your place doesn’t look cluttered and more importantly ensuring that your plants are placed in an area that will get the lighting they need to thrive.
Hopefully you enjoyed this plant tour and plant styling video. Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up and if you haven’t done so, subscribe.
Enjoy

What do you guys think? Can I add more plants without making my place look cluttered?! Let me know some of your ideas.

😊👍🏼 great video! Yes you can definitely add more. 👏👏Just keep uniformity with white pots and go vertical. And don't forget white space around the plants gives the illusion of less clutter. I live in NY where space is limited so we just go vertical w our plants. 😊🌿

It needs the right potting mix and environment, and lots, lots of fertilizer to be fast growing. Likely you didn't give it the optimum growing condition, or didn't fertilize enough.

We have a saying in Iceland which is used when people ask if you want more dessert, another kiss or something like that where the answer is probably going to be yes because the thing is so good. The saying is "maður getur alltaf bætt á sig blómum" which literally means "you can always add more flowers/plants" that is my answer. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk 🌿😅

I think that the bare wall to the left of your string of hearts would look really nice with some simple floating shelves (covered in plants of course). great video! my favorite part was actually how you clearly showed what areas are considered which types of lighting because everyone always says "bright indirect" but it's hard to know exactly what that means. thanks!

This summer I had a whole lotta thrips on my bird of paradise. I couldn’t find out what they were at the time because everyone was only talking about mealy bugs and spider mites. I ended up just placing my plant in the shower and I rinsed it thoroughly for about three times hoping to drown them down the drain. Fortunately they were all gone and I never saw them again. 😁

'm not into the cluttered plant look either. I love my plants but I do want to keep it reasonable. I have 1,200 sq. ft. condo and my condo is also facing south and I have floor to ceiling tall glass sliders on my sunroom with lots of light available there.. I move my plants out to my sunroom in the summer months and then back indoors into my "plant corner" where they get nice indirect light and they are in the heated part of my condo. I am happy to hear bout your special grow lights. I wil check that out on your link - thank you for sharing that!! I LOVE the green shamrock plant. I had both green and purple but the green died and I gave the purple one away to a friend.

Could I send you a photo of my Ponytail Palm. Its not doing well, iv had it for 5 years and it hasent changed. To be honest I dont fertilize it as often as im just taking house plants and their needs abit more seriously, but in all these years nothing has changed. It was in a pot wayyy to big for it, which is probably why it didn't grow and get new sprouts ( stunted growth) but I do water it with water from my aquarium, and very seldom as I know it dosent need a whole lotbof water. Thanks, angie

I noticed in one of your videos that you have a cat. I'm very much wondering how you combine the two, given that cats often like to 'explore' plants and that most of them are kind of poisonous. I have a cat and dogs myself and would to hear any advice on that.
@mrsbeard5225
@mrsbeard5225 4 жыл бұрын
The ASPCA has a really comprehensive list! It seems a lot of the most popular plants are toxic unfortunately. My cat loves plants and loves to eat them too. All Lily’s are deadly! Even a small amount of the pollen is enough to kill cats. So no Peace Lily’s. Other toxic plants include Philodendrons, Pothos + Ivys, Monstereas, Birds of Paradise, Aloe vera, ZZs, Ficus and Alocasias. Non-toxics = Peperomias, Calatheas, Hoyas, most* palms, most* true ferns (excluding the Asparagus fern), Pileas, many succulents (except for jade plants), Sedums, Spider plants (though non-toxic can be a mild hallucinogen when cats ingest it, some cats are attracted to it once they associate it with them feeling them high). I’ve been looking for non-toxic alternatives: Instead of a Rubber plant > Baby Rubber Plant (Peperomia obtusifolia) Instead of a Devil’s Ivy > Peperomia Scandens

I usually only go at most for a week and most plants require watering once a week so I time the watering when I know I’m leaving. I’ll water just before I leave and when I come back a week later they should be good. Most plants can tolerate under watering, as they’ll bounce back.

Sherry Porsch Thanks Sherry. I definitely am considering adding some shelves on the wall for more plants or maybe a picture frame living wall. 😊

My Monstera's do get attacked by Trips every time as well... Do Trips love the Monstera's?!? At the end, what was the winning//last thing you did to get rid of it? I heard about they be hating garlic... So I placed some garlic on the ground and in some nodes. I also heard that I can soak some tabacco in water and spray that on the plants, cuz Nicotine used to be to attack the insects on plants, not to smoke (fun fact) haha. So maybe will try that... But what was yours?

It seems that the Monstera were the only ones that got attacked by thrips, the rest of my plants are ok. I've never heard of those garlic and tabacco methods. I'll need to look into. I just used insecticide soaps, lady bugs and a lot of neem oil, which seems to have worked but also over did it to a point where the leaves on some of my monstera got damaged.

@@CrazyPlantGuy hmm, thanks for your respons Christian! What did you do with the neem oil, like what kind of schedule? Should I do it everyday? Will look into it and try it out :)
