I'm just back from getting my usual Saturday morning wash and blow-dry with my hairdresser, my hubby has made me a strong cup of Irish tea and a slice of toast with butter and apple and clove jelly/jam and Linna has her video uploaded, you can't get a better start to the weekend. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.

Hi Linna, I think I would always pick the wrong dairy product if I was living in Japan. Here in the Netherlands, the milk cartons are white with blue (dark blue for full milk and light blue for semi skimmed milk), and the carton for yoghurt is white with green. So, I would pick up a lot of milk thinking it was yoghurt. 😂 We can also buy a refrigerated custard, which carton is white with yellow. We eat this custard for desert. Often paired with yoghurt and a bit of strawberry jam. But custard with fresh strawberries is amazing! I was surprised to hear that your husband isn't a great fish lover. I thought all people living in Japan loved eating fish. Here in the Netherlands, there is also a huge fish industry, but I don't like fish at all. The smell, the texture, brrrr.🤢 But for 10 years, I haven't eaten anything at all anymore. I have gastroparesis, and I get IV fluids and are tube fed with a tube directly into my small intestines. So, I don't have to worry about eating food I don't like at all. 😅 But I love to see what you are cooking. I Google the ingredients if necessary, and I love to see all the different cooking utensils. That's why I also love your shopping videos to shops who sell all kinds of table and cookware. It shows me items I've never seen before. And that is so much fun! Because of various illnesses, I'm bedridden. Your videos are such a great way to "escape" from my bed and enjoy your endeavours! Thank you so much for all the work you put into making these videos! It's highly appreciated!❤ Sending you love and hugs (for you and your boys) from the Netherlands. 🤗 🇳🇱 ❤

Finally time to watch your video. I though the last year of elementary school would be easier for me a s a mom, but turns out I need to do a lot😅 I love how Japan has so many seasonal things. It's something we don't really have here, and I kind of miss it. Your tonjiru looks delicious. When I make it I never add daikon, as I don't like the soft texture when it's cooked. But sometimes I add some grated daikon to my bowl before eating. If you ever need a quick dinner, you can steam or roast the sweet potatoes. Also put chicken breast in a bowl prick with a fork a couple of times and add a splash of sake, salt and pepper, cover with wrap and steam about 6 minutes in the microwave until cooked. You can shred the chicken and then add a sauce. Teriyaki would work, or yakiniku, or a spice Korean sauce or more Western with bbq sauce. Top the sweet potatoes with the chicken and add some salad or steamed greens. And a bowl of rice. Very easy to make just for one, or the sweat potatoes for a family dinner. The shredded seasoned chicken works well in things like sweet potato salad or as a filling for tamago yaki as well. Or simply put on some hot rice. I sometimes make batches of the just steamed chicken and put it in the freezer, so I only need to heat it up and put sauce on.

Thanks for your sharing, sounds delicious 🤤 What is the ‘a lot’ to do in the last year of elementary school? I will have mine next year too 🤗

@@LinnainJapan mostly it's visiting and selecting a secondary school. But mine is in the masterclass program so that is a lot of added things for me. We don't have after school schools here but for aome children schools have extra things. And from the end of November until about March my daughter has two tests at schook to determine here level (we have different levels here of secondary school) so get here to do a bit more for her math is the biggest (time) challenge. She wants to take the level where they teach Latin and ancient Greek and she wants to do it partly in English as well so she needs a high grade/advice.

I got a ricecooker as a birthday present and it arrived today. It is not common here in Germany to have one, but after watching your cooking I thougt it would be good to get one. Of course I had to try it immediately. Today we had basmati rice with an Indian inspired curry dish. The rice was much better compared to cooking it in a pot. Tomorrow I am going to make sushi. I guess we will eat a lot more rice in the future! 😊
