Smart move turning right on Norfolk to avoid Shepherd. Nice surprise to see you drive into my old “stomping grounds.”

The only complaint I have between the transition between the TxDOT portion of Toll 249 and the MCTRA/HCTRA sections involves the "Pay By Mail Ends" signage not directing drivers to specifically use the Woodtrace Boulevard exit. Right before that exit there is a sign that says "Pay By Mail Ends 1/2 Mile" (see 1:18), which makes it sound like there might be another opportunity to exit, when in reality, there's not. I know some might think drivers can see far enough to see that there is not another exit, but you might be surprised (also, weather conditions like fog can and do happen). This is a toll violation trap. I'm sure MCTRA gets a decent amount of toll revenue from violation fees (the Montgomery County section of SH-249 is their only toll road). The signed distance refers to the point where TxDOT maintenance ends, not the final exit before TxDOT maintenance ends.

It certainly does seem like there might be an exit beyond the Pay By Mail ends sign. I certainly thought that there would be. Thanks for the comment.

To the fact this footage was a full year back, Houston's roads have improved a lot, next year will finally apply some stressless to some of the major roadways, but is it just the beginning? Ah, unfortunately, downtown will be like New York as soon as this project starts....

Houston would have a long way to go before the traffic is the same as New York. Thanks for the comment

haha the ramp at 5:05 is ALWAYS full at rush hour and everyone tries squeezing in last second which is annoying for people like me who use 249 south of BW 8. Good video!

Thank you. It doesn’t surprise me to hear that the ramp to the Sam Houston Tollway would be more popular than the through movement to the arterial road to the south of the expressway. Thanks for the comment

Amazing footage. Once again Texas freeway infrastructure is just on another level! Interesting that "pay by mail" is an option for some US tollways. Here in Australia everyone just uses e-tags.

I think most people in Texas use electronic tolling too. But pay by mail is a good system for people who might not normally use a toll road and not have an electronic tag. Thanks for the comment.

Great drive! Why does Highway 400 in Ontario have an exit number that starts with 20 rather than 0 or 1?
@AsphaltPlanet1 Жыл бұрын
The exit numbers in the 400 start where they do to allow for a southern extension of the 400 towards Downtown Toronto. Thanks for the comment.

Question, Do you try to avoid rush hour times in big cities because there never is usually much traffic problems in these videos. Great Video!

I do try and plan my drives to minimize the likelihood of getting stuck in traffic. Thanks for the comment.

@@tmghui888 Per capita, Houston has more than LA. LA highways are much more congested than in Houston.

It's really cool to see another video from the Houston aera where there is some clear sky. The main thing I love through the Houston aera is that almost all of the freeway intersections are 4-leveled interchanges, which is just crazy! My favorite one, I believe is certainly the interchange between I-10 & I-45. Have you also hear that in Quebec, the FAE is on unlimited strike since November 23 this year on several Quebec regions. It's however not the case in my aera yet. Also, it's highly believed that the issue won't be solved before the christmas holidays that are coming really soon. Plus in my region, it's possible that the unlimited strike comes right after the christmas break. Nothing is clear yet, only time will tell us... personally, I hope it doesn't happen, as it's my final year in High School, which is a very important one for my future life's choices

Houston does have really tall interchanges at most of their freeway to freeway junctions don’t they. That’s too bad about the strike. I’m sure they will find a resolution in due time. Thanks for the comment.
