Insufficient ventilation is called suffocation, which causes asphyxiation. Both cause a person to feel as though they cannot breathe. Since you wanted to play semantics.

I am a retired officer, 41 years, and, I offer and ask the following. A wooden table leg is potentially a deadly weapon-a good strike to the head and it could kill you. The suspect already hit a customer on the head with the table leg. The assault was reported to the officer working off duty and the officer pursued the suspect. The suspect then swings at and eventually strikes the officer with the table leg. The officer attempts to taser the suspect which is not effective HOWEVER, the suspect now gets the taser away from the officer. Deadly situation: 1. The suspect is armed with a table leg and if he lands a good blow on the officer, the officer could be rendered unconscious and, he at best takes the officer's gun. At worst, he shoots the officer with his own gun. 2. The suspect has the officer's taser. He deploys the taser on the officer, gets the officer's gun and the same scenario as #1 takes place. Every year, officers are killed because they attempt to meet lethal force with non-lethal force. This is a perfect example. If someone is resisting arrest by swinging a 2X4, lead pipe, crowbar-table leg-anything that if used in such a manner that could result in great bodily harm or death, you better be prepared to affect that arrest with lethal force yourself. Tasers are great, if they work, operative word, "IF," and everyone loves the fact that nobody gets seriously hurt. If it doesn't.....you could be the subject of the next FBI officer summary.
@Wpns1752 жыл бұрын

The murderer did it just because he didn't want to get his car towed and go to jail for like 3 days. He was pulled over for expired tags, which is a minor traffic infraction with no jail time. He probably had warrants. The prosecutor, the public and the mayor are all calling for the death penalty, as he should. I hate seeing them get trashed by people who have no idea how policing really works. @3xs😎Dang!Thats Tuff!😎 Failing to move over when being approached by an emergency vehicle is a Class 2 misdemeanor. There is also a hefty fine of $250.00 with a maximum possible fine of $2,000.00 plus court costs imposed on someone who is convicted for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle. The penalties are more severe if an emergency vehicle or work is hit or injured. Furthermore, a conviction is considered is a moving violation and counts as 3 points on your license. A conviction is also one insurance points and a conviction will cause at least a 25% insurance surcharge for three years. THESE OFFENSES ARE GOVERNED BY N.C.G.S 20-157 AND FALL UNDER TWO GENERAL CATEGORIES 1. Failure to move the vehicle over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles. Under the “Move Over” law, drivers must move over one lane, if possible, or reduce their speed when approaching emergency vehicles such as police cars or ambulances as well as public service vehicles - such as utility and towing trucks - with flashing lights stopped on the shoulder of a highway. This can be a very subject situation whereby the driver feels it is not safe to move over because of adjacent traffic but the officer believes that the driver could have gotten into the other lane. Since this is a safety issue and there have been several officers and emergency workers who have been injured by passing motorists, the court takes a very hard line when it comes to weighing defenses. 2. Failure to move over when being approached by an emergency vehicle. When a driver is approached by an emergency vehicle that is utilizing its warning signal the driver of every other vehicle shall immediately drive the same to a position as near as possible and parallel to the right-hand edge or curb, clear of any intersection of streets or highways, and shall stop and remain in such position unless otherwise directed by a law enforcement or traffic officer until the law enforcement or fire department vehicle,.

You do not know what is going on, "help" can easily ruin the situation even further, backup can confuse you with a suspect. It's nice that you've never been in a stressful situation before, but some people freak out when they're being arrested, especially when they know they're in deep trouble. When humans panic, they tend to breathe faster and take shallower breaths, which will cause the person to feel as though they aren't getting enough oxygen. Also, when humans push themselves physically, they tend to need to breathe a lot more. This goes for most or all mammals as well. If a person is running from the police because they know they're in trouble, once they've been caught, their body's need for oxygen catches up to them, and the feel as though they can't breathe. If you've ever run in your life, you might know how this feels.

I mean I can understand that people don’t want to intervene when a cop wrestles with someone since you don’t know if there are weapons involved but not even asking the cop if he needs help is not the right way

This is a scary situation. If the perp gets that taser and dispels a charge before the cop is able to shoot, the perp subsequently may get the gun. Dangerous for all! Glad the cop was able to combat the resistance.

the cop shouldn't even risk losing the taser, just poor poor training

That’s how they are trained not sure how that’s actually should be done taser versus gun who actually wins there

dangerous - you can justify everything with that logic - which is what happens too often. The guy looks homeless and mentally ill. He could have got a gun and killed loads of people. Or most likely not. Or maybe he could have gone into a school and shot hundreds of kids? Maybe thousands? The possibilities are endless but that doesn't make the probabilities. It's a low bar.

They do. section 843.01 prohibits willfully or knowingly opposing, obstructing, or resisting a law enforcement officer by acting violently toward the officer or threatening to commit violence. Anyone who willfully resists an officer with violence can be charged with a third-degree felony.

I couldn't stop laughing just how people went about there business as it was like nothing was happening. A guy walks out from the Chick Felt looks at the Officer struggling with the Suspect, and just shrugged it off like it was nothing. The Suspect is lucky to be alive. After watching this video, the true colors of Houston are very apparent. People just don't care about anything and don't get involved, not unless it involves themselves.
