I am from New Hampshire and looking into double hung colonial windows and I done tons of research and was gunning for vinyl's but than I saw renewal Andersen and he told me vinyl's aren't good that I should go for Fibrex which is way better but way more expensive. I am seeing another company Rite windows and they selling Vinyl's and I am doing research on the difference of vinyl's replacement windows. Your videos really help me also saw before my appt yesterday about to be firm and not say yes because sale guy was a bit pushy. I am looking to replace my townhouse 21yrs. Not normal size windows and come with grids 63H x32 w . My responsible to get them or not and the windows are horrible I only been homeowner 1 yrs and 4 months they are terrible with latching and opening and closing and insulation for warmth from the winter and heat. I almost had appointment with pella but I learned they too are high end windows so I only need one high end company other I see what they have to say before I make my decision. I am seeing company called United Home expert and they do Marvin windows which is another high end brand too. My main reasons is better insulation and easy to open and close and low maintance a view isn't necessary since my back as the the woods and front just trees and townhouses & stay there 15 yrs. Any suggestion for first time buying replacements windows?

@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
That's hard to say... If you're getting an ultra premium vinyl product, that may be better than a poor quality aluminum product. I would focus more on the quality of the materials and the installation than I would the material being used.

In regards to Reason #4 - Durability: I live in AZ = HOT and DRY. I'm planning a new build where the front/back will face east/west, respectively. I want a true black framed window, interior and exterior. Wouldn't vinyl, even premium grade, warp and fade in the prolonged direct sunlight? I'm thinking fiberglass (Pella Impervia) would be better for my house due to it's location. Am I correct?

My builder ordered Ply Gem 1100 series for our home. My contract called for Low E366. The windows I received are Low E-SC. From what I read it is only 2 heavy coats of low e. A good SHGC of 0.23, VT is 0.43 and U factor of .35. I can't get an answer from Ply Gem if these are comparable to E366. I guess what I'm asking is are these windows any good? I have learned so much from watching your videos and I thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone.

Thank you for watching. It appears to have a good shgc but it achieved it at the cost of poor VLT. (Visible light transmission). In other words, it performs well but it's darker than the 66% VLT that Cardinal glass offers.

@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
If you get a high performance aluminum window frame, you should be okay pretty much anywhere in the country. However, if you do have cold winters, you will experience more cold transmission from the outside to the inside with an aluminum window then you wet any other type.

What about sunrise vinyl windows? Are they a mid grade or a high grade?
@HoustonWindowExperts3 жыл бұрын
Sunrise Windows used to be one of the best Windows out there. The fell onto some hard times financially and got bought out by a company called MI. MI is great at making money but not very good at customer service. My experience with them has been that they buy up companies and then make them profitable but at the expense of good customer service. That's what they did to Milgard also.

Is it correct to say when they said life time warranty, depending on the State, it's "x" years. In Texas, life time warranty is 7 years. Can you confirm? This is what I learned from "Renewal by Andersen" rep yesterday during their demo. RBA's warranty is 20 years. Thx.

I had originally ordered Pella lifestyle windows and I liked the look/durability of them. The windows were supposed to arrive 4/4 but I was notified they are being delayed 5 months. Do I order sunrise vinyl windows and get them in 3 weeks or wait the 5 months? Are lifestyle windows worth the wait on holding up construction of my house for 7 months due to not being able to drywall/siding
@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
Zack, thank you for watching and your question. I'd suggest looking into Windsor wood windows as an alternative to Pella. The Sunrise windows are vinyl and that's really a whole different product. If product material is not important, I'd suggest go for the vinyl instead. Waiting five months will be very costly in terms of completion of your project. That's a tough call...
