What are your thoughts on the use of promises to drive these plot points, and their outcomes? Thanks a lot for watching, this was one of my favorite videos to make, so far.

Luke made promises that he was able to keep, he was always there for his friends, and he did return to Dagohba to try to complete his training with Yoda. And he proved that Padme had been right about Anakin when she felt the good in him. You need to do some videos about Luke and his journey and his connection to his father (Anakin) and his mother (Padme).

Excellent points! Thank you. And yes, I'm making some videos on Luke and his parents.

I always felt that Kenobi should have used a more flexible interpretation of his promise to Qui-Gon and just ensured that Anakin would be trained, but passed on to a more experienced Master, like Windu. Windu might have tried to find a way to get rid of Anakin though, which, for all we know, might have made the situation even worse.

Obi-Wan could've. Though I think the idea was, since by the time Qui-Gon died, Anakin wasn't allowed into the Jedi Order, and Obi-Wan would be the most invested in Anakin and in Qui-Gon's hope in him, even if it meant going against the Council and training him apart from the Order. That's a big ask for a rando. About Windu, Council members don't normally train Padawans, but there are exceptions. Ultimately however, who ever trained Anakin, there would still be Palatine's grooming to factor in.

@@SubtextMining what bothers me the most about this topic is that it's another non-decision by the Jedi. Obi-Wan is quite literally the least experienced Master in the universe and the council responds to him making a promise with "I guess it's out of our hands and not our problem." It's this kind of inertia that leads me to feel that the Order deserves to fall. At it's worst, this decision strikes me on a meta level as the writers saying "this is the story so this is the way it has to be."
