"To support my kids and my family." Simple sounding reason...but then the video cuts to pictures of previous generations showing fong on's evolution in reverse. Maybe this is reaching but in the way it was presented one can't help but imagine every guy in charge of the shop at the time would say the same reason if they were each interviewed as to why they do what they do. Then the depth of those words becomes apparent. As if to say, "We take care of our tofu in the same way we've taken care of our family over these many years...with love."

Most commercial soy products, especially by western brands really are bland and horrible because they tend to use GMO soybeans which incidentally removes a lot of that fragrant bean taste. Then again there are people who don't like the bean taste so it's definitely not for everyone, but those who do like the taste really love it.

I love watching these videos. Between the narration and the cinematography, these videos really capture the dedication and passion these people have for the food they make and the people they serve. It makes me appreciate the process of how food is being made. It makes me believe that the food sitting in front of us went through so many stages and there's so much effort being put into getting just one serving of what we eat and that food was destined for noone else but us. And that's just so beautiful to me.

@@MsPango123 basically imagine soft, super squishy and semi watery nothingness. It's kinda like eating a cloud that's a little more consistent. Tofu on its own isn't great, but it takes on and absorbs the flavor of whatever you add to it. If you add brown sugar water, it becomes an incredible sweet dessert like you're eating a sweet cloud, a less airy cotton candy. If you hzd eggs and some meats and other salty ingredients, it becomes this accent to an incredible dish that's salty and savory (my favorite dish) while again being incredibly soft and mushy, absorbing all the juices.

I like that this guy is honest about why he's doing what he does and doesn't try to romanticize his involvement in the family business to sell sentimentality. He lets the history of the brand do that. From the other video on the white sugar rice cake he had mentioned that he had been on various career paths before deciding on inheriting the family business out of the necessity to provide for himself and his family, and while that doesn't sound very promising it's probably how most people get into their family businesses if they're honest. But despite his slight indifference he has awareness that he needs to deliver quality and keep reinventing the business in order to sustain it, and that's really the key to success.

remind me of food peddler whom sell Tofu Flower. In Indonesia, this tofu pudding is called 'kembang tahu' (flower mean bunga or kembang in Indonesia language, tofu mean tahu). The pudding itself also give dilluted brown sugar with essence of ginger which made tofu sweet and warm.

@@maiamckirdy5185 it's not the lifestyle that I dislike, it's the person that practice it that I generally don't like much. Most of the vegan I know are quite dense and easily trigger by little things, and that annoys me a lot. I'm fine with the lifestyle though. I even eat vegetarian 4 days/month for religious practice.

Here at Philippine we call Tofu Pudding "Taho" and it is served with brown sugar syrup and sago. It is mostly eaten by kids and elderly in the morning as part of their breakfast or as a get-go meal before going to school.

Here in the Philippines we call it *Taho* (tofu pudding) my all time favorite afternoon snack, it has caramelized sugar and sago (little chewy pearls). Usually the vendor who sells it every morning and they’re hard to catch up since they walk around the town

In the Philippines, Tofu Flower is very much a staple every morning unless the vendors doesn't go through your street. We call it 'taho' but it is served with darker brown sugar syrup, almost caramely tasting, and sago, much like tapioca only smaller. It is one of the Chinese culture the country has adopted through out history.

@@rumpumpum7444 doesn't taste like much, but it is great at absorbing flavours. And texture is everything with tofu. You have soft and silky silken tofu, thin and delicate tofu skin, doughnut-like fried tofu, crumbly hard tofu. Haha, tofu fan here

Just imagine a very light soy milk flavor that's solid. But yeah now much "flavor" that's why they call it a blank canvass. It's fine on its own but the goal with using it is to incorporate sauces, spices, and seasonings to take it to the next level. You may not LOVE tofu but I can't imagine many people HATING it either just because plain it doesn't taste like much 🤷
