Julian juleZ ....Hello Julian, i hear and feel your heart. I'm 67 and soon to be 68 in a few months. I grew up in the country and the woods n creek were my 'playground' as a kid...and dad took me fishn. I also helped with the vegetable garden. My love for nature and her many facets of beauty has continually grown thru the years. I agree with you that this fellow is sooo blessed to have his cabin in the woods. My lifelong strong heart desire was to live in the country have a small cabin and get my hands back into the earth and garden. Thing is, desires n dreams don't always come to fruition. With having to take care of my mom as her declining health from alzheimers And also my wifes health went downhill...i was the caregiver and living from paycheck to paycheck. Being alone that way with no help took it's toll. I drive out to the country and get spring water. And go canoeing n fishn. But cabin n garden in the country...i reckon is waiting for me in heaven...i hope! That's the thing...we keep hope and are thankful for having a roof over our head n food on the table. Enuf of my jabbering.

I live a pretty simple life here in the valley up in the ridges of the Sequatchie Valley, living in a motor home, built my little wood shop next to it where I find myself doing what I love most. But every 3-4 weeks my old friend calls me and we go up into the mountain where he has a nice cabin, build a fire, fish the pond and ride around in the woods on some old logging roads that have grown over and washed out decades ago. The peace and solitude restore's the soul and gives life meaning. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven.

@@terriwatts8649 I'm just living on a friend's property next to his deceased dad's old house with well water and electric but I do have solar panels I made myself but not in use. I'm hoping to build myself a tiny house that's portable and off grid soon. As far as bears go there's no worries because only a few have been spotted over the past 50 years but the population could grow in the years to come, for snake problems I use bird netting placed on the ground where they might be suspect. The netting captures them as they try to weave in and out of it and its very effective. I live in Dunlap tennessee in Sequatchie County north of Whitwell and south of Pikeville, not quite sure where hidden valley is. Another ditto! My family had a cabin on a lake and we would spend the entire summer there. No phone, no TV, no radio, nothing. Just our books, our games, our joyous chores getting firewood, fetching spring water downlake, an outhouse, bathing in the lake, a canoe, a small outboard, hiking, building forts and treehouses! It was a Peter Pan life. Now 74, I have a cabin or cottage or camp, whatever you call it and for many many years it and the work it involves, has sustained me. Now most of the year I live in the mountains when not traveling with a camper. Yes you hit the bullseye! These places of solitude are sadly missing in many lives. Great thoughts and a great video. Roll on people!

We will have cabins off the grid with breath taking views and solitude. I am retiring from the Job Corps where you work with broken down lives who need healing and away from it all. Oh wow; I am so proud of young people who seek all-natural ways of healing. Your cabin is beyond beautiful; I love how nature has just hugged it up. What a dream property and you have it decorated in such soothing, calming way. Thank you for sharing this part of your soul with your KZbin fam. My boyfriend has recently been diagnosed with severe clinical depression and he turned to very hard street drugs. He now has been dealing with bouts of Psychosis as a side effect of not sleeping for four straight days and three nights; hardly eating or drinking either. I have been searching and researching for ways to start that deep healing on the inside. Getting back into nature with absolute peace , surrounded by nature's quiet. I feel like that would help him beyond words. We don't own a cabin but we are able to go hang out a few days at a pretty awesome campground nearby. I feel a little crisp, wintry night air, and stacking some wood to chuck up on the fire is in our future. Grinding up some coffee beans, bacon sizzling in the skillet! Walking through the woods looking at pure, homegrown, untouched nature. There's nothing like it to soothe a wounded soul.

Other people wanted your dream and ruined it. Same thing happened to us...but the dream was awesome while it lasted.

I hike a ton in the Berkshires, one of my most memorable climbs was climbing Mount Greylock on New Year’s Eve. I was along in a snow storm 3000 feet up and I was so happy. I drove from cape cod where I live, after being home on break from nursing school in Boston, and I caught a fever for the type of calm and quiet that you feel out in the mountains and this is the closest thing I’ve felt to that feeling in a long time. Much appreciated.

What is interesting is...this 'genre' of KZbin video is proving to be very very popular! Homesteading, living off the grid, living in small cozy cottages...with what is happening in the world today, these videos are a perfect, tranquil, peaceful little glimpse into a life lived by some...coveted by most! I am not a dog person, but I would definately own one should I ever be that off the grid with no cell phone service! I owned a cabin for 10 years...but a different type...it was on a lake, 10 min. drive from a small town, 16 neighbors...and well....not small! We spent a lot of time cleaning and doing yardwork the first 2 days after we got there...! But after that...it was fun for us and our kids who were young at the time....

That's a lovely place you have and I love that you just go out there by yourself and only take your dog with you. Being in solitude in nature can be healing. Just being there. My parents have a wooden cabin too and I remember when I walked in the woods there one day and experienced real silence for the first time in my life. I had never heard nothing but my own breath and the ground cracking beneath my feet. It was a bit scary at first but I now need this experience every now and then to stay sane in a noisy loud world.

Very nicely done. The sacred fire and water flowing. A healing space. Everything right on except for what you were pouring into the Glass. That can be a great distraction and I hope for the new year you are clean and clear in your love of life. Blessings

Loved seeing your books on Thoreau! I have been watching your videos for a while and I’ve always thought that your perception of the healing powers of nature reflects Thoreau’s philosophy on how nature is the core of everything. When I watch your videos, I feel the same sense of wonder as when I read Thoreau’s ‘Walden’. You really know how to “live deliberately” You’re a true modern transcendentalist!

This was delightful footage. Plus your wording - this cabin in the forest is surely a place to unwind. It was meant to be yours. Nice song at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Kind greetings from Switzerland.

Cabin in the woods is one of most relaxing feelings for relaxation. Natures well appreciated just to stay their for a while, for a busy life schedule and to unwind those pressures life style in the city. What more if you actually live there.

hollywood television will teach you that living away from the city is full of monsters and that its boring. Try it, stay in a cabin in the woods for a weekend... on your days coming up to your vacation fill your mind and soul with positive thoughts and energy, surround yourself by positive people. You will come back a different person.
