This episode had some rendering issues resulting in some dropped frames again. We're sorry. But also - this is a podcast. Are some of you sitting down to watch the video the entire time without looking away? Or blinking? What if you need to feed your cat or something? Help me out here.

When I saw Nope I got all the trailers then the regular AMC advertisements, the lights dimmed and then… the Oppenheimer teaser - like it was attached to the movie. Never seen that before and curious if it was like that in other theaters too.

This is your best episode so far guys. Like, you did not only touch every aspect I could possibly ask for from this movie, but you guys also went deep enough. This is the best podcast on this movie I've seen. It is refreshing to see James, and the dynamic between you guys is sharper than ever. Also, it is delicious when you guys discuss movies from directors you know well, those are my favourites versus when you guys just talk about whats trending. Congratulation guys, I know it is not much, but like, I remember the old set and when it was called Carpool Critics and you kinda did not know what you were doing. Man, what a long way you've come. Just keep doing this forever please.

I was mildly traumatized by Hereditary. As in, I legitimately hated the movie and never want a scary experience like that again. Should I watch this movie? The scariest I can handle is the Cloverfield movie where they're stuck in the crazy dude's bunker.

Love commentary and the show (as always). Just wanted to give my view on the topic of; white people speaking on the behalf of people of colour as a black male (though British) that’s grown up in a mainly white society. Spoiler alert... it depends and there is no right way. Just so you understand my experience of being black and why I have the perspective I do though you can definitely skip this; I'm in my 30s I am a software designer by trade, working for one of the biggest tech companies in the world, I have a master’s and post-grad degree, have never taken drugs and or even drank alcohol (since I use to compete in athletic at a national level and kept up the lifestyle), never been in trouble with the police, yet I would say I get stopped and searched by the police on average of 4 times a month which are "random". The first time I got stopped and searched I was 13 on a school trip, in uniform on a kind of scavenger hunt in Windsor, thinking I did something wrong and worried I'd get in trouble back at home. When people don't know you and they will judge on your appearance, that’s obvious. But to break that judgement or one’s own perceptions, they need to be a place to be open to the idea that this person is not whom I think they are. In a normal meet and greet situation and think it's easy to break those barriers down but in a high (or potentially) stressful situation like a car accident or stop and search etc, for someone in an already stressful role like an officer, that can be really difficult. I think would be great if I could be heard or seen as a person, or too delicate on my own, but most of them I've always valued an "ally" to almost vouch for me to help me break down those barriers since unfortunately no matter what I say or do at those times I am what I appear to be, a black male. And deepening who you are can be a lot of different things or a bunch of misguided stereotypes.

Thanks for reading and love the show and you guys :)

As a brown mexican that visits the US frequently and that has been stopped by cops I can for sure say i would hate if a white woman was making a scene cause that would escalate the situation and it would be me who would end up in danger. If I was wrongfully accused and she could use her priviledge in court or in social media or with upper class connections THAT would be good

Resident evil show is garbage. I'm not a fan or hater of the originals or the game and came in relatively cold. I also had low expectations and was just looking for something to watch while I sat up with my sleeping newborn. I think ive seen some of the action scenes in the old movies and thats it for context. In short, tried watching the new show and was just super underwhelmed. I couldn't finished the first episode.

The old resident evil movies are also not that good, but a lot of people (myself included) have nostalgia for the first few, because of when they came out (I was 12 when re 1 came out) and their proximity to what was at the time widely considered the best resident evil game to date (re4) made resident evil more popular than it would have been, it was also one of the first movies of the early/mid 2000s zombie fever that led to zombies being quite over done in pop culture

26:40 don't know about that. probably it helps the case, but I come from a environment like that, and I met a lot of people that have the same mannerisms and special signaling you're discussing, just a little bit less frequent, cause there are less of them to be like that. what often happens in my experience, is that usually, it gets internalized and express when amongst white people only especially when there is a wealth discrepancy. it seems just harder to be like that when majority of your environment would find it strange.

Didn't Jordan Peele say that he would never cast a white person as the lead role..... Just making sure that everyone is ok with race being the determining factor..... I heard that has a name, raceism or something like that. I guess we will lift up people like that now. Linus is the only one who has ever been on the podcast and not made everything about race. Are white people more deserving than black people, are black people more deserving than white people? No everyone deserves equal rights. Ps if your worried about racism look at your own PM who was photographed in black face multiple times. You guys are all sjw it makes it hard to watch.

It's all about context, my dude! In short, BIPOC groups in the US and elsewhere, especially former colonies, don’t have inter-generational privilege we can wield against whites (thereby limiting their possible wealth, educational, employment, and/or environmental outcomes). Racism requires power and there's a disparity in the exercise of power and authority, which constitute an essential part of racism. Your reverse racism argument here is somewhat moot

Exactly, it’s become a right of passage in media to be like look at us and our political position. We conform to the ideology guys and we’re going to reaffirm that by getting mad and questioning every white male in media. You can argue with me all you want but at the end of the day this pandering WILL 100% stunt the growth of the show. I don’t even care that much but it really feels icky and disingenuous when they start with the SJW shit. Whitey bad…men bad….. 🙄
