So i am doing my transmission right now great video's very very helpful for me personally because i have a 2014 ford focus i got it drove it for 4 mouths and broke a fork and had to replace that get new trans fluid i destroyed the lower control arms trying to drop my transmission so i changed them , this vehicle is a pain i hope after i fix it and relearn the tcm the vehicle runs ok i have never done this big of a repair in my life so its a slow process
@BigBensCarsAndCycles11 ай бұрын
Those ball joints can sure be tricky. You can spread the knuckle a little where it pinches on the ball joint and that'll help. Good luck to you. With a new clutch, forks and slave cylinder you shouldn't have any issues after for a long time. Unless the tcm fails (if it's original) that's an easy repair

Or clean it inside more frequently. Even though I know a cleaning system could be built into the clutch side of the DPS6, that blasts clutch dust out of key areas. Like I said, connect the air fittings, go up and down through all the gears a bunch of times, on a rolling road. Collect any clutch dust from the exit holes, every 24,000 miles, or whatever, according to rate of use, and you're all set.. maybe each time, finish it off with a huge blast of brake cleaner, once the bulk is out@@BigBensCarsAndCycles

Hi, very nice informative video! I'm currently looking to buy my first car ever at 23 yrs old and I think the Ford Focus 2016 is the one I love especially by the design that looks pretty clean and beautiful but a lot of people keep telling its a bad car because of the transmission. Do you recommend buying it or what's your opinion about the car?
@BigBensCarsAndCycles7 ай бұрын
Hi! The dual clutch transmission will need attention occasionally. But once it's fixed it should be fine for 100k miles. You might need the TCM replaced one day if it's an early build 2016. Otherwise just cheap basic general repairs once in a while. Overall a good car. If you can get a 1.0L 3cyl ecoboost, that comes with a bulletproof reliable conventional automatic transmission. And the 1.0L Ecoboost is about to be recalled for their only known major issue so that'll help you there.

thank you for sharing. I live in Australia and I drive a Ford Kuga DIESEL 2.0L 2016 with 6DTC460 powershift (wet clutch) transmission. They are also complicated piece of shit with plastic tabs against springs in the clutch housing that often brake and contaminate/disrupt the solonoids. Ford at its worst.......
@BigBensCarsAndCycles11 ай бұрын
Agreed that these transmissions have their issues. We've got the Escape over here (renamed Kuga) and I think that's neat having a diesel engine in one. I also didn't know ford used a wet dual clutch. Interesting to know they also have issues.

@josephhalwagy643511 ай бұрын
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles to ensure the 6dct450 and 460 wet clutchs last at least 120,000 miles, they requires regular tranmission fluid and filter changes every 20-30,000 miles. But also you need to drive them with respect.......... My car has done 90,000km in 7 years and I change the transmission fluid and filter (plus the transfer case and the dif fluid for the AWD) every 30,000km (costing $600 AUD = $400 US). I also change engine oil every 5000km . So far so good. I am a retired pharmacist and hoping to keep the car for another 7 years before jumping into an EV

The "clock gears" as you call them, if the TCM is removed and the clock gears are disturbed, do they have to be timed? Do they have timing marks?

I have a question just to inform my self a bit . I have a 2013 ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost with the dps6 transmission and it shifts fine and without issues but i had my wetbelt swapped at the beginning of the year and ford of course gave my car a test drive and they noticed that my transmission is making noises i didn't even took that sound serious because it didn't bother me. I did swap my transmission oil 2 weeks ago and there is no change in the sound . it does sound like something large is rotating because once it fully rotated there is a extra scraping noise and when I'm driving and switch it into neutral it still does that sound .i was wondering if a rusty clutch could produce a sound like that ? Thanks for any information
@BigBensCarsAndCycles5 ай бұрын
Hi, if the noise stays the same when put in neutral at speed, that may be final drive bearings or a wheel bearing
