Politically, and ideologically, I (who is 70 years of age) stand right-of-centre, but agree with anyone who castigates Donald Trump as being crazy. However, with regards to him destroying democracy, let alone him destroying sociological stability, what the Democrats have inflicted upon America from the moment Biden sat in the Oval Office is horrendous. For instance, dismantling the borders - primarily the southern border. And the soft-on-crime policies that exist in ALL of the Blue cities is total dystopia. Another matter to mention includes an array of elements in gender reaffirmation. Tragically, there are significant swathes of America (and, let’s not forget Canada, and most assuredly Britain, which is decidedly worse in certain aspects than the US) that are total basket cases. America is at least 20 years past its point of salvation, and by 2040, it, along with other Western nations will be embroiled in total chaos, which will resemble the movie, ‘Escape from New York’. So, when that comes to pass, Leeja Miller, and you have to lock yourself in a room (as was depicted in a movie starring Jodie Foster) to protect yourself from intruders, or worse still are being beaten to death, please don’t complain!!!

It addresses both historical and contemporary events and issues, is grimly and thoroughly informative, with enough snark to take the edge off (or, in some deserving cases, sharpen it). There’s a counterpart podcast for more hopeful content (mostly historical) called Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff, also great.

The sad thing is. Even if Trump loses this is the new reality we're facing. The right is now in his image and we'll always have to keep rallying too keep his cronies out of the seats of power. And thats something that isn't going to be feasible for ever. We need to get proper reform done immediately and protect whats left of our current government immediately.
@ownedinc4274
@ownedinc4274 2 ай бұрын
"Protect our current government"? But our current government sucks. It sucks less than a Trump led authoritarian regime, but just barely. The lesser of two evils? Imagine a democracy in which the public voted for the better of two positive choices. The democrats are better than the republicans, but that is only because the republicans suck so awfully. Proper reform would not protect our current government, but instead would radically transform it. Americans are too lazy and incompetent to perform such a task as that though.

it is people that no longer believe the usa federal government has political legitimacy. not every wrong in history can be federal government regulated away. at some point, each person must take responsibility for their own existance and contribute what they can to society. those who REALLY cant contribute must be provided for as best the productive can provide to them. but this is not a bottomless pit of borrowed federal money thrown at problems that the decades of experimenting on social programs show dont work.

Basically it's a real life version of the Trolley Problem... Do nothing & allow Facism to take over... Or pull the lever & continue the legitimize the status quo which is currently supporting a genocide... Plus in this trolley problem the track goes in a loop... Because Republicans have to win eventually... It's not IF Facism it's WHEN... So while Obviously the right option is to pull the lever... There is no Harm Reduction under Capital or Hierarchy... Basically what I am saying is that trying to Change things through reform will never work because The State is Counter Revolutionary... The only way out is through Socio-Economic Abolition... Where we tear down the systems that allows for these Abuses wether it be Capitalistic or Hierarchical... Not so that we can create a new Status Quo but instead a future wether we can live without one... The Right in the US has been fascist in nature since at least the time of FDR. How many people have even heard of the Business Plot? If it hadn't been for a Marine who cared more about his country than power, they would have been successful back in the 1930's installing a fascist government right here in the US of A. Hell, look at how many American citizens in the run up to the US joining WWII not only supported Hitler and the Axis, but were even willing to accept their way of thought (with support for a Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden, Nazi Bunds throughout the country, and some even went so far as to leave the US and join the Third Reich's army).

@@AurizenDarkstarit has become more obvious over recent time that there was never any hope humans would learn anything from WWII. The species is just fundamentally susceptible to certain bad ideas. Facism is like heroin to humans, seems like they start to get a taste and then dive face first into it, only coming out of it once they've suffered enough to snap out of it or OD'd. It's not even really a trend you can exactly spot in the individuals, it's an emergent behavior. Even though I can't fully see the individual mechanisms, I really do believe we could soon be an authoritarian country. It's just not that hard to imagine when you talk to "normal" people. Many wouldn't even have the mental capacity to truly understand they live in a dictatorship

Also to any Trumpist/conservative viewers watching this: Orbán is importing half a million immigrant workers into Hungary, overwhelmingly from China. In 2016 when there was an actual migrant crsis, his minister, Sándor Pintér sold 120000 passports illegally without checking, also letting in 2 terrorists and 8 people with other history of serious crime. Despite claiming to be anti-socialist he has decimated and took over all large and medium sized corporations in Hungary and handed them out to his henchmen (you might've heard of Lőrinc Mészáros, the billionare gaspipe repeairsman who was the childhood friend of Orbán). He has also taken away private-pensions. And he basically makes us into a colony of China, importing Chinese polluting factories and taking up trillions in Chinese loans, the contents of which are secret, because he personally profits form stealing from them. Be warned Trump is the same. Trump has already accepted trademarks and millions from China and always praises Xi Jinping. He won't do anything against the elites, the American elites and deepstate are already are conservative, and have been for a long time, because the elite is invested in conserving themselves in power. And Trump himself is an elite, he was born a billionare. Presidents and any single person with a lot of power won't do anything against elites. Worker and safety unions however can. Greetings from Hungary: we are fucked and went from a mid-tier country to the least developing one in the EU.

True. If you look at other countries, the parliament usually consists of more than five parties who form coalitions in order to create a government. In the United States, it's a two-party system because all other smaller parties and individual operators have basically no voice. E.g.: The French president Emmanuel Macron for instance was an individual without a party who founded his own ("Renaissance") a year before becoming president when giants like the right-wing "Rassemblement National" and "les Républicains" were a much greater force.

Also if they are "lefty" leaning in any social media they will not be approved for citizenship, and will be deported for sure. So no, the kids working for you are not safe. Neither are their parents or grandparents. You and I commenting under this video with "lefty" sounding support are not safe either. @@Mimi-cq4bgA LOT of immigrants are extremely anti-immigrants. This is a problem with the left.. They can't wrap their head around a group being both a victim and an abuser at the same time. But that's the problem with groups, they aren't individual. And "protecting" or supporting a large group of people so broadly is bound to have problems. For one, legal immigrants have a lot of valid reasons to hate illegal immigrants. And second, illegal immigrants, just like any group of people, have a lot of bad people who actually aren't just lovely and want to make the world a better place. Many don't have any sort or reasonable position on immigration, despite literally being illegal immigrants they actually just want to slam the door behind themselves. This is because they're poor and they only see other illegals as competition to themselves. The same problem exists with Islam which treats women like dirt but because they're a minority in the US everyone on the left has to ignore that and pretend they're just pure hearted martyrs..

I will say this: I voted for Jill Stein in 2016 to protest Trump and Hillary because I thought Hillary would still win. If I could go back and do it over again, I would spend time and money to make sure that Hillary won because despite my many, many disagreements with her and her policy positions, we would be in a much better place as a country if Donald Trump had just lost again, never to be seen in politics again (ideally). Don't make the mistake I made! Don't do it people, I will not be making that mistake again, despite knowing that Biden is nowhere near as progressive as me and despite all the things I am so mad at him about, I just cannot fathom how we get out of another Trump Presidency without doing irreparable damage to our lives and those of our children if you have them.
@pomerlain8924
@pomerlain8924 Ай бұрын
Yep. And it's fine to have policy disagreements. That's what makes a strong democracy. But we can't let perfect be the enemy of good. There's never going to be a perfect democratic presidential candidate. Doesn't exist. But we can choose the candidate that will best take us to where we want to go. So people may disagree with Biden, but he's not going to blow up our democracy. He's not going to take women's reproductive freedoms away or strip rights from the LBGQT+ community. As Liz Cheney has said, we can survive bad policy, but we won't survive allowing a guy back in that will destroy our democracy. Trump can NEVER get back in the White House.

The thing is, though, Hillary won the popular vote. Her election campaign strategy involved ignoring key constituencies in key states, and to deride progressive policies popular with the Democratic base in order to court centrist conservative voters by seeming "reasonable" to Republicans. That strategy cost her the Electoral College. She assumed that the Democratic base would enthusiastically support her, even if she did not support them and occasionally even treated them with a certain degree of disdain, or the very least, with dismissive disregard. This has become a cornerstone of the Democratic Party platform: "I don't have to be good, because I know you won't vote for someone worse than me. I don't have to help you, because I know you won't vote for someone who openly pledges to harm you. So long as I am less repugnant than your most repugnant alternative, it's your fault if I lose." Biden (and the rest of the Democratic Party along with him) is following the same strategy with Muslim constituencies, with Hispanic communities, with unionized rail workers, with the LGBTQ community, with younger voters, with just about anyone concerned about climate change, and the list goes on. He may win the popular vote, but he is creating massive obstacles for himself blocking his way to the Electoral College. The problem we now face is a second Trump administration without a viable candidate or political party to oppose him, with the exception of the American judicial system, which is now largely in conservative hands. Unless we see significant reforms within the Democratic Party, Trump or one of his imitators is an inevitability within the decade. A win for Biden will only delay those reforms by once again enforcing the wrong lessons among Democratic Party leadership, while giving the conservatives more time to perfect their fascism.

Yes, the second Trump Presidency will ruin democracy. He's going to send the FBI to raid a former president's house with "lethal force if necessary" on the former First Lady and her son. He's going to divide the country even more with his horrendous foreign policy, sparking nation wide college protests. He is going to cause sky high inflation, making it so the top 10% see their stocks hit record highs, while the bottom 90% are struggling to find housing and pay for groceries. He is going to prosecute his political opponents with personally appointed judges. He's going to put the needs of foreign allies over the needs of US citizens for his own benefit. OH WAIT. THAT WAS ALL CROOKED JOE BIDEN! From 2016-2020, we experienced historical levels of world peace and economic growth. Why didn't President Trump turn the US into a dictatorship then, like the left predicted in 2015? We so called "People of Color" are slowly but steadily leaving the Democrat Plantation, your white liberal lies are getting exposed day by day. Black, Hispanic, and Asian communities are waking up, and are shifting Republican, as seen in the New York Times Detailed Election Map. We are now seeing the second "party shift", where privileged "educated" whites are voting overwhelmingly Democrat because of their "morally superior" policies. In reality, these Democrat policies are actually hurting working class Americans! You can try to oppress us all you want, but in the end, light will triumph over darkness. Amen.

I'm also disabled and unable to work, and I fear if Trump gets elected, I'll have no savings to protect myself if he messes with public assistance. Not to mention losing my rights as a trans person, and I fear even worse because of what I'm already seeing from the right. I see people wanting to do 'protest' votes again, and it really must be nice being in a privileged enough spot where you don't have to worry about losing your only income because you're too sick to work, or your rights and protections. Every single person who doesn't vote (who is able to) or who votes 3rd party will be complicit in endangering people like me. I realize that's hard to hear, but it's the f**king truth. People need to wake up and see what's at stake here. I don't like Biden either, but Biden we can come back from. We got two choices, like it or not. No, it isn't right, but it's our current reality. I am definitely going to vote, because I don’t want to deal with four more years of Trump, or the consequences of another Trump presidency.

As a trans person in the US who admittedly has a bit of a d*ath wish, I'm willing to go out and protest against P:2025 if it goes through. I'm not going to sit back and watch human rights be violated.

The Republican party is too far gone. Every single election cycle from now pn is going to be a choice between ineffective center-right democrats and full blow fascists. I hate living in this country. This is one of the first times in my life where I'm thankful to have dual citizenship in case I have to leave this hellhole.

I wouldn’t exactly say democrats are centre-right. They’re definitely still right wing on the sliding scale of liberal and conservative. It’s only that the state of the Republican Party in America creates the illusion that Democrats are somehow liberals.

Amen.
