When the 1st lady said that getting sober isn't the problem, its staying sober, I honestly felt that. I too struggle with alcohol addiction. I had to also go to detox and rehab for almost 45 days to help treat myself. As of today, I'm 73 days sober. It's a real battle, and I hope that she eventually gets the help she needs.

I am so glad you had the self awareness/honesty to get treatment. I hope you never drink again, but if you do, just stop again, get treatment again. If you haven't already started to feel the rewards of sobriety, you soon will. Reinventing your social life/circle could be difficult, but so worth it.

You’d be surprised how many officers have family who have had drinking problems. I was a 911 operator for 11 years. My father is still an abusive alcoholic. It allowed me to relate to the families and those we arrested who were in the throes of addiction.

Honestly she was way more sober than a lot of the people you see on these dui videos. Since she didn't do a PBT I'd have to guess she was around... .010 She got pulled over for improper turn signal, which is super petty to be pulled over for. Again, this is speculation, but I'm guessing the officer ran her plates, saw she has a previous DUI, followed her and waited until she made some violation so he could get PC for the stop.

14:40 was so real and sincere of a comment. She said "Getting sober isn't the problem. Staying sober is." I was a "fun drunk" but a sloppy drunk. I got sober in 2009 and I am so grateful I stayed sober! NOT drinking was probably one of the hardest things ever in my life. Here I am sitting and not buzzed, hung over, tipsy, puking or passed out! One day at a time, keep going back cause it definitely works if you work it! I paid it forward by working in treatment for over 5 years. I can go months and months without even a thought of drinking.

I had a cop give me a break when I was 17. Sitting in the car with the keys in the ignition but not on. I failed the field sobriety but asked if I had my friends parents from 3 doors down walk me to their house would he let me go and a man to his word he did. It’s been 13 years and I have never thought about getting behind the wheel inebriated or even buzzed. That was a good cop who saved my life and possibly someone else’s.

I do not feel vindictive - I don't desire to cause them any additional suffering. I just don't want any part of it. Of course I hope they are able to get clean and be a positive force in their own lives and those around them. But in the end it's completely dependent on them.

Lol defund the police doesn't mean they stop working. It means taking some of their funds and using it towards other sources for things like mental health issue. If someone is having a mental breakdown and someone calls 911 often the cops don't know how to handle it so they end up arresting the person instead of getting the proper mental health care. Defending would allow mental health 911 calls to go directly to a mental health resource or social worker instead of a cop.

I love that phrase, we'll save a seat for her. She seems to think it's too late but it's absolutely not. Her classes will welcome her back with open arms, I'm positive. I feel hopeful for her. Especially when she said "I can get sober, I just can't stay sober". I can't even remember how many times I've said that, made it to 30 days then relapsed countless times. I have 4 years now ❤

The end of the 1st video showed the true character of the officer. He was kind and without judgement tried to connect with the lady to encourage her to try to stop drinking. For a moment I thought he may have reached her. You never know, something he said may help. He could’ve easily just kept completely to the point, especially after how she treated him. But he took the time to try and that touched me.

I have chronic, severe PTSD and it's upsetting for people to pull that "card". It's real, palpable and horrific. My brain dissociates and my body tries to shut down. There are many levels, but it's NOT the same as "I can't breathe". People need to be responsible, but never will.

Retired NYC Ballerina here - we do have EXTREME turn out stemming from hips thru the toes. We tend to walk like ducks! All she needed to do was stand in parallel position, it is VERY weird for Professional Ballerinas to do much in parallel but it’s most def possible!!! 😂 She’s no ballerina, she maybe took it 30 yrs ago as a kid - but nahhh don’t insult our profession lady!

Cause the laws are a joke. First offense should be 6 months mandatory in jail and 1 year suspension. Second should be lifetime suspension and 2 years prison. I know that's harsh but it needs to be to scare people into not drinking and driving ... I've driven drunk before when I was younger, but if I knew I'd be locked up for 6 months if I got caught there's no possible way I'd have gotten behind the wheel.

as a person also in recovery, "STAYING sober" is the hardest part... recovery isn't linear...and trust me when i say, we we slip up, we kick ourselves more than anyone else could. the shame is what keeps us silent and drives us deeper into it. she sounds like she has a decent support system, hope she's able to get therapy to help with her ptsd :( trauma is no joke, and we do whatever we can to numb the pain.

I agree 100%. I got dependent on benzos after witnessing my brother passed suddenly. I have flashbacks daily and made my already severe anxiety almost unbearable. I went through withdrawals a couple times. That in and of itself was traumatic. I tapered off of them (I never abused but got physically dependent) 2 months ago after being on them for 4 years 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 I get the urge for them pretty strong from time to time but living tethered to them because of the withdrawal was no way to live. We got this. You got this. I am proud of you ❤

Keep it up, you can do it. Lean on friends if need be. I'm five years, three and a half months off of Heroin, so I understand. I was off the booze for over 19 years, and picked up an opiate habit, that began with pills, and ended up with Heroin. I didn't want any of it to happen. I had the money to support the dope, so there were no outside problems, with the law, or any of that. But, I worked every day, and was on the stuff. Not a good choice in my line of work. Anyway, here it is, over five years now, and no dope. Good luck on your journey. Like I said, use friends, your higher power, whatever it takes. You can do it.

As of 11:37 Wow... the cop talking to the Karen in the car during the first incident... what a super nice, empathetic guy. He didn't have to be anything like that, but was. That cop is awesome. First Karen has no idea how good she had it because of him. You see a lot of these Police cam vids around, but this guy stood out. Professional, supportive, courteous without being slimy, condescending or changing his stance but stead-fast without being forceful/or aggressive. Much respect.

I'm curious to see what spiel he has told this friend as to why he had to move out. He explained losing his job as "... for turning up for work with a hangover, ONCE!". When in reality he didn't turn up for work AT ALL, for three weeks, because he was drinking, TWICE!.

@@theflamingone8729that’s so tragic what a really rough road ahead if he doesn’t seek help. I’m a nurse and I will say without fail that alcohol has to be one of the worst addictions. They can use for SO long without it physically destroying them, there is a social acceptance around the purchase of it, the criminality around it is less so even the legal system won’t stop them for long. In the end they often tend to be in a nightmarish physical state and many develop dementia. The ways I’ve seen people pass ultimately due to long term alcohol abuse are some of the most upsetting. I hope that you live a more peaceful life now and that person gets help! ❤

@@mariella2884 thanks. He was very resistant to treatment. He said he couldn't not work for the 4 month rehab process. I pointed out that he hadn't been able to work without treatment. I gave him the forms that would enable him to ban himself from buying takeaway alcohol for 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or indefinitely (it's called the Banned Drinker Register), I doubt he will do that. Anyway, he's out of my life now. It's been clean and quiet here now.

I really hope that first lady is able to successfully get and stay sober. It's one of the hardest things you can do but there are so many good communities and programs that can help you. Connecting with others in recovery is a major help in staying sober.

Not happening, too much denial, no accountability, plus she's still trying to hide the boozing. There's a lot of self reflection needed before she does anything. Now she's fucking up her detox, meetings, all of it.

She says she’s 56 and then try’s to claim trauma because “her dad physically attacked her last year”… 🤔 She had trouble fending off a 75-85 year old man but she can easily fight with two police officers in their 30s?

The last cop in that first video is actually the kind of cop we need a hell of a lot more of. While most people watching these videos have zero sympathy for the people who end up in these scenarios, we have to constantly remind ourselves that no one CHOOSES this. Wouldn't you prefer to be the person who says something that changes a life, instead of the person who just mocks and ridicules?

Perps are finally wise to the fact that there's a federal statute that states "If a detainee inquires 'what did I do?' or some variation thereof at least 250 times prior to being placed in the back of a squad car, they must immediately be released forthwith without any charges." Fortunately, most officers are able to get them into the car before they hit the magic number.
