I saw your video B4 going for the test & you mentioned that they're not always accurate - Well, when I got there I wanted to remove all my jewelry but the lady said to leave it on. (I wear a lot of jewelry). I'm also petite & know that also makes a difference. The results show osteoporosis. Doc wants to send me to a endocrinologist - Shouldn't it be a bone specialist/Orthopedic Dr. &/or the like? I'm elderly but pretty healthy, into wellness BIG time (eat right, walk daily, keep active, & "listen to my body" & it's saying "Not so" to Osteo!? Dr. Brown, what would you suggest? Please do - I'll thank & Bless You = B. Well, Xoxo.

I changed machines once and went to satellite of hospital bone center instead. Dexa had spine at -2.9. I took supplements, worked out hard with heavy weights and vest and next one almost a year later had it at -.2.1. Could a different machine be that off?

Can they pick up osteoporosis on a regular chest x-ray?
@DrSusanBrown
@DrSusanBrown 12 күн бұрын
A regular chest X-ray cannot reliably diagnose osteoporosis, as it primarily looks at bones' overall structure rather than bone density. While severe osteoporosis-related fractures might show up on X-rays, it’s not sensitive enough to detect early bone loss. A DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) scan is the standard tool used to measure bone mineral density (BMD). Another emerging technology is the REMS Echolight ultrasound, which uses radiation-free ultrasound technology to assess bone density and quality. Unlike traditional bone scans, REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) provides immediate and precise results on both bone density and microarchitecture, making it a useful tool for early osteoporosis detection without the need for X-ray radiation. This technology can complement traditional tests like DEXA and provides a more patient-friendly, convenient option for monitoring bone health.

Hello! Thank you for reaching back to us, and we truly understand your concern. Please be advised that Dr. Brown's inquiries on social media are managed by a dedicated team. For direct communication with Dr. Brown, we offer structured channels, including individual consultations and group Zoom calls. The numbers you've mentioned, moving from .71 to .78, generally indicate a change in bone density. While this can suggest an improvement, it's crucial to interpret these scores in the context of your overall health, age, medical history, and other factors. We're here to guide you, but due to the complexities and the need for personalized medical advice, it’s essential that these discussions happen in a setting where your privacy is protected and all relevant health information is considered. This is why direct consultation with Dr. Brown is recommended. Our goal in directing you towards consultation options isn't to withhold information but to ensure you receive the most accurate and personalized advice tailored to your situation. If you have concerns about booking, we're more than willing to discuss how our consultations work, the types of assessments and guidance you can expect, and how we prioritize your health and privacy in every step, by emailing us at helpdesk@betterbones.com. Please let us know if you would like more information about our services or if there's anything specific we can assist you with. Your health and understanding are our top priorities.
