Such lovely people! It’s always fun to see people who are so passionate about their craft. It’s almost shameful that you have to cover up their product in order to use it, because these mannequins are almost a piece of art on themselves.

That's why bespoke clothing has a wonderful, comfortable fit. It's not made from 8 or 10 generic measurements like made-to-measure which are just alterations to a form. It's a whole constellation of measurements that capture your posture and how the neck and upper torso drape...and how your arms and legs move.

1) Adam's model starts at $2500. Steep for the hobbyist, but on a professional level it's a solid investment. 2) Did they mention where "Beatrice" comes from? 3) Would've loved to see more about the photogrammetry stuff. I understand the process in general, but to have a specific outfit and then stand in a specific way are both new to me
@astrophysicistguy6 ай бұрын
Yeah i mentioned this when he posted the first video. It's just not realistic for the typical; cosplayer to spend $2500 or more when for about $30 you can do the exact same thing making the classic 'duct tape mannequin'. You need a helper and a couple of hrs but the result is a remarkable replica of yourself - ask me how I know. My Mandalorian, 10th Dr Who and now Halo Master Chief outfits fit me perfectly once they fit my 'DT mannequin" correctly

Seeing your "body double", hearing your voice played back... an oddly "existential" experiences. How we see and hear ourselves. How others see and hear us as individuals. Deep stuff 🤔🤓 Love ya Adam. Thanks for be yourself. Your exploration of the world around us, your genuine curiosity is an inspiration. Curiosity, exploration and discovery are the essence of human evolution...you're a shining light in a darkened room.

I've yet to watch (don't worry, I definitely will), but the thumbnail brings up a real annoyance of mine, in terms of the cut of a suit jacket in this current era: who took the poll that said every jacket must look a half a size too small on someone, even when tailored to that specific body? As an example, look at 'Casino Royale' and Craig's tailored formal wear (fits wonderfully, I think) ... then, take a look at every other suit the man wears throughout the rest of his tenure as Bond: looks like they used the original measurements for that formal wear, without accounting for 'life' (ie: diet, training regimen for a film shoot, etc.) taking place. Always looked way too tight and uncomfortable to wear to these eyes. Now, look at Connery's suits in his era: all tailored by hand on Saville Row, if I'm not mistaken, and not a single one looks too small on that mass. Apart from that, I think - being a person who makes moulds and casts a fair bit of stuff, as a fun sideline in life - I'd still rather cast and mould a person's duplicate 'self' and make a form out of any number of the current thermoplastics available on the market these days, though pinning to those items would be a slight problem, although I'd be willing to do some testing on mixing and matching on them.

I feel like every actor and model should have one of these they can give to their designer or costumer at the beginning of each production 🤔
@pinkkrystalz76106 ай бұрын
Because each dress form costs hundreds/thousands of dollars, so paying for each individual form for not just different clients, but for more when said client(s) ages, loses/gains weight, or went under body modification is more expensive than just pinning foam on top of 1 form.
@CheZfrmdaWestWisc6 ай бұрын
@pinkkrystalz7610 good point but those folks are rich as hell and they could shoot a commercial instead of standing in a fitting room so it would pay for itself
@pinkkrystalz76106 ай бұрын
@@CheZfrmdaWestWisc 1. Being a apparel designer doesn't make you rich. 2. Even if said designer is rich, that doesn't mean they're willing to have so many dress forms take up space. 3. You do realize each studio has a fitting room (or at least bathrooms) to try on clothes. 4. Not only that, but you do photoshoots AFTER trying on the garment(s). As a fashion designer (who just got their Bachelors last year) what are you even talking about?

The suit looks too small around the waist; you can see the button pulling on the material making lines when a proper fit shouldn't. Common issue, tailor can fix cheaply.

It sucks when you’re a little short & it’s hard to find stuff that fits you. It depends on the company too. Either a bit too big or too small. There are big & tall but no short stores.& not extremely short but short enough

I'm not sure about this, what happens if you lose weight and get in shape that's a lot of money down the drain. There is a reason why dress forms and tailors have been around so long.
@tested6 ай бұрын
If Adam didn't keep his weight in check, it would be a much bigger problem than the dress form -- none of his costumes or space suits would fit. He's found a maintainable weight for himself, and plans to stick to that weight as much as possible.
