One thing that breaks my heart about my addiction is that I don't remember much of children's infant and toddler stages..Wanted to cry yesterday while hanging out with one of my daughters who is 16 now.The insanity of it all is that I actually thought about drinking to take that feeling away..

I know how you feel. I am now 14 months sober. I have 3 children 20, 15 and 14. I'm 41 years old and this is the first time I've had this length of sobriety. I am still learning to forgive myself as NOTHING good will come from picking up a drink again. It's not always easy.

Scientists DO know why alcohol has a sedative effective. It binds itself to alpha subunits on the GABA-A receptors, which potentiates the effects that GABA has on these receptors. This leads to a higher degree of cell membrane hyperpolarization which opens up the Chloride channels and allows a higher volume of negatively charged Chloride Ions to flood into the axon terminal of pre-synaptic amine neurons. When this occurs, neural activity slows down. Benzodiazepines also have this effect. The problem is that with long term consumption/use, these subunits come to depend on the substance for GABA to have any effect on the GABA-A receptors. Abruptly stopping the use of alcohol or benzo's leads to a Chloride Ion deficiency, causing neural activity to amp up. Leading to severe levels of anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia. In more severe cases, psychosis and tonic clonic seizures.

I would only drink at night but I started drinking half a bottle of liquor a night. Now I’m down to 2 beers a night. Soon it’ll be one then none. I have yet to have any medical issues. It’s just nice to relax with a beer. That’s the problem.

I was never an alcoholic, but I was a social drinker and would have three or four beers or a cocktail or two about every other weekend. But with the pandemic making social drinking next to impossible, I stopped drinking altogether and now I don't drink a drop even when I am out with friends. I'm not against alcohol, but I've discovered I pretty much don't need it.

I started manipulating my dopamine at age 12… I think because I lived in a low class part of my city and didn’t have much going for me. Fast forward to me now… nicotine free for 15 years… Alcohol free for 4 years… And porn free for 1 month… I have it all, and I’m grateful for the opportunities. I was drinking since I was 16, now 69 and didn't stop drinking each evening until 6 months ago. I tried most everything to stop drinking with no long term success. In Feb this year, a friend recommended that I try a clinic in Reno NV that used Ketamine to treat addiction. Since the second day after my first Ketamine treatment, I have not had a taste for alcohol... none, nada! I have not had a drink since. It's weird to just completely lose a desire to get drunk. I go for treatment once a week. Nothing in my life has worked this well to stop me from drinking. Its a bit expensive, though the VA covers a large chunk of the cost, but in my experience, I would pay cash if the I had to. For me, it was like magic.

I quit drinking on my own. No 12 steps, no AA I did it in one step and it worked. I was drinking two gallons of tequila a week. I went through three days of withdrawals and being extremely sick. I was sweating like a stuck pig . But I made it and no more alcohol for me since then. 20 years sober. I did because I really wanted to be sober. You have to really want to quit drinking.

As a survivor of a drunkard child and spouse abuser their usual technique for problem solving is to throw money at a problem instead of discerning the abstract. They're the kind of individuals that wouldn't even give an injured child a band-aid in preference for the alcohol they love so much. Just sweep the truth under the carpet is the modus operandi - just like hiding the alcohol under the sink or having an innocent falsely accused just to take focus off their alcoholism.

Then it's fine because your body heals itself (just like a infection happened) the problem is not occasional drinks but addiction drinks (alcohol dependency) if you're strong enough to hold the urges to drink again then drinks once in a while is not bad (please drink in moderation even in occasion)

Moderate alcohol consumption is no more than 1 drink per day for women and no more than 2 drinks per day for men. Even if you only drink occasionally, you shouldn't drink more than 1 drink over that limit. I'm female. I rarely drink, but never more than 2.

I get what you’re trying to do here. But it’s like you’re trying to “sell” people a shortcut to sobriety. We all bought a shortcut to “happiness” so we drank. And that doesn’t work. Now you’re selling a shortcut to to “happiness” via sobriety. But that happiness is developed through that hard work. So my guess is you’ve found a great way to capitalize on people’s misery, just like alcohol companies have capitalized on society’s pitfalls. At least yours is in a positive direction, I’ll give you that. I hope I’m wrong. I hope you’ve found a fantastic new way to approach a massive societal problem that’s so much easier and completely eliminates all the established ways. You just seem to have quite an impressively nice house. So for me it raises those “non genuine” alarms. Do you really want to help people? Or do you just want to stack some cash? There’s plenty of alcohol stopping resources out there for free. But that don’t claim all the shortcuts as you do. It has that “get jacked with tons of muscles right now without all the dieting and exercise” feeling, from the fitness industry, yinnow? You make all these videos with tons of information teasing, but somehow the thing you really need to know is always just one more click away in some description link which will eventually put you in front of a dollar sign. Please just be more straightforward and honest. We all have been through enough.
