But not an answer to why he “hates” the question.... Once I heard “none of your fucking business” (aka “people helped me but I’m ashamed to say it”), I was out. Now we hear interestingly worded phrases like “I earned everything in here”. It’s weird & lets me know there’s a whole section of knowledge being kept secret (if I’m trying to do what he’s doing....or just be successful). Plenty of youtubers open up their full finance spreadsheets & revenue paths/details. This isn’t an odd question. It’s odd answers....unfortunately.

For me as an external observer, the biggest downside of your studio is that you rent the building. I actually would qualify that as a risk.

Because in Germany you can only rent. German big cities are crowded, they want cheap working force in order to strengthen German economy. This is why you can't find nice place to rent, not to mention if you want to buy one. You would need millions.

Great video Jon you have just addressed many questions I've kept to myself but wondered as a subscriber. I rarely post in these comment sections but just wanted to say I've really enjoyed your videos! Your content and advice always seems to be from your prospective which seems to be from trail and error and most importantly what works for you. You project a laid back matter-of-factness Instead of the condescending air many other KZbinr's imploy which is really refreshing. Just wanted you to know you inspired me with your hidden keyboard studio desk build awhile back from your old studio. I took your plans and changed the deminsions slightly to work with my gear which I built during the pandemic. Keep up the Great work and content! Rick, Duluth, GA, USA

Jon just a Heads Up, Loudness + Sqaure meters means more money, and I don't know who your advisers are but be very careful, some of the things you talk about on your blog, that I've followed for many years, are a little miss guided. I come from many years of audio (50) and seen many things from analogue to digital and now the creation of digital analogue, from Abbey Road to mega Westlake ( Rock&Roll Studios) on the west coast of America and around the world, to me "all that counts is what it sounds like on my 1970 BoomBox/Smart Phone and in my Car, nothing else really counts now does it....as long as your producing great music all the time, people will come and knock on your studio door because they get off on your sound not your studio. Keep up the great work......

Your hard work and dedication has been super inspirational for me, thanks! Have you tried out the PSI avaa active bass trap? Maybe it could help you out with your 30hz problem. Hey Jon. You seem to have very nice thing going on there in the studio. Congrats❤️ As a mastering engineer for many years here in Finland I would suggest that you invest to the room and finish it with Trinnov ST2 Pro - that is pure gold. That outboard gear is great and I’ve had almost all of those that you have now bought - we all love the gear but you really dont need all of those. That is not money well spend. 1 color eq and comp and thats it - Like that tegeler creme you have there, very nice product and maybe that bettermaker eq, and return rest of them!!!! The plugins are so good and are going to be even better every day. Am almost sure you are going to regret if you stay with all that gear because its nice to have that stuff - but its pointless. I know you may not be interested of my opinion but I just had to say it. Ps. I’ve enjoyed your your music

For the room correction on the digital side of things, you have to check the Trinnov ST2 Pro with it's 3D microphone. Low latency, external box, won't bog down your system at all and it is what they use in movie theaters and big installations. The BBC is using it, too. It does frequency, timing and phase corrections. It is expensive (4-5 grand) but definitely worth considering to get your studio flat as the earth ;-) Big up, from Hollywood!

Jon, your backwards on the front vs the back of the room. You want the front to be absorbent and the back reflective. In the front you want to kill reflections that are going to smear your transients, reverb and panning placement. In the back you want reflective(diffusion) to make the space sound larger.

It might be my impression, but very recently I've noticed that Jon tracks seem to be a little bit harsh (mixes are more precise, but they feel just a little too digital), not sure how I can explain, but to my hears I think that Jon's new studio A with such good acoustic treatment could be leading Jon to take out too much of the warmth that I got used to like in his tracks. I hope I'm wrong, but somehow in recent videos, Jon's tracks seem a little too technical / precise, much less muddy, which is all great, but less warm as well, not sure how to explain better.

I don’t know how you can be a producer and consistently make music then also mix and master other peoples music. That’s pretty beastly. I had to quit the production stuff because it was so time consuming and not worth the time put into it(16 hours a day) to become a full time mastering engineer. It’s much more gratifying and actually pays the bills. Only took me 20 years to realize it
