When I was little our Family Physician as they were called handled it all unless there was a problem, I had 3 brother's and we were very close in age. He was such a wonderful Dr., and man and friend to my family, so he took lots of time with us, and explained everything. So, this is how he would check our ears. I actually liked it. Lol. By the time we got home, we could check everything on all the baby dolls, pets and neighbors. Lol But they just don't have wonderful Dr's, like that anymore, he was our Dr., until he passed away. Actually, this is only one of many of her shorts. In most of her vids she uses the flushing method where a large amount of wax is removed with flushing first and if there's any remaining she uses the instrument. I'm guessing it either wasn't necessary with this patient or she already applied a softening agent before removing the wax. I had to have this procedure after having brain surgery when blood had pooled in both ears and mixed with ear wax and hardened. I can't begin to describe the relief while she was flushing, and then when my ear canals were finally exposed when she used the instrument to remove the remaining clumps from both canals.

Am an ENT surgeon from India. This is not the way ear wax can be removed safely. One small movement by the patient can cause injuries. Ear syringing by sterile water or diluted povidone iodine is the safest method. If wax is still stubborn, a ear microscope is needed to evacuate the wax with specific instruments under magnified vision. Removal of impacted ear wax safely, is not as easy as it seems.

Only if your earwax fluids doesn't drain properly or you don't clean it properly. It builds up.

Genetics. Some people get massive skin plugs mixed with wax. You typically have to see a professional for removal.

I've watched videos with ENT drs and they pull out much, much, worse. Many don't go for years and by the time they go the wax is impacted and the Dr has to dig it out.

First time my ent did this I was sooo embarrassed. Those qtips just push the dirt and wax in deeper. It doesn’t hurt if they do it right.

Yeah my ent did this with my head back cause I had small sand shells lodged deep in my ear from surfing. Huge help, wish I had the ability to do it myself honestly. Works better than Qtips

I removed earwax at home with a syringe and my ears have been ringing ever since. I have to get in to see an ENT. Do you think the ringing is permanent? It’s been months of constant ringing.

But remember, don't use q tips inside your ears.. 🙄

good job! why don’t American ENT’s get the endoscopes & suction tools they use in the UK? the magnification & safety is so much better. there’s plenty of channels on yt that show them. watch the Endoscope & Wax Scope 😊

I have tinnitus about a week ago I went to get my ears cleaned unfortunately the nurse pushed my earwax in more (I got it cleaned with water) well after that my ear started ringing super loud way more then usual (my tinnitus is usually super low) well I went to the hospital to try and get it cleaned out and they told me I had impacted earwax and they couldn’t do much since they didn’t have the tools I have an appointment with my ent in 2 weeks but I’m so scared that I’ll have permanent hearing loss and that my tinnitus will stay this loud , How long is it to long to remove impacted earwax? Right now my ears feel fine expect for the horrible ringing and also I can’t blow air into my ear if my ear has had impacted earwax for 3 weeks is that to much ? 💔
@caitthecat Жыл бұрын
2 weeks isn't that long, it's unlikely any permanent damage will occur. People have had impacted earwax for ages without even realizing it.

So sorry to hear this. I am glad you are seeing an ENT so they can fully assess why you are having tinnitus. As best you can, try not to focus on it. The wax will be ok til you see them. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Is it painful?

Typically no unless you have an infection or wax very close to your eardrum

Water jet works better then this

Only if it's really impacted and blocked. Otherwise, water jet also damages your ear drums.

Where are your gloves?
@teachmedoc Жыл бұрын
I always wash my hands with soap and water before and after patients (which you dont see in my video bc that would be boring lol). I find that I lose fine touch when working with fine instruments and since I do not touch anything then I do not wear gloves in this specific instance. Good observation though!

6:28. I just burst out laughing when you said about the skydiving.I am learning to skydive. I also have been engaged but didn't get married. I've heard what you said plenty of time's. Thankfully I got the "seriously think about if you want to get married" by my friend.There was no divorce in my country back then. The same friend encouraged me to try a skydive if I thought I'd like it. Makes me think that I am lucky and have a great friend 😊

What should I do??? I know I have extremely curved ear canals, every time I have dizziness or the feeling of being underwater they tell me I’m fine … I know I’m not then I’m reduced to home remedies..
