What happen ? Was she not on treatment? Did she stop her treatment? EDIT: Thank you for answering my question. Glad you knew my intentions to ask was inquisitive and didn’t come from a place of malice. I did my 15 page research paper on this same topic few years ago for my evidence base practice class at Rutgers University for my BSN. “Correlation between Medication adherence in HIV positive women and depression.” Your statement affirms my paper and what I found out during my research. I’m also not at all shocked at the overly sensitive people in the comment section…more offended and outrage than the person i directed my original question too. 🥴🥴 To defeat HIV/AIDS or any disease we need to collect data. We collect data by asking questions from people like you who have lived experience. To stay silent and not ask questions because you’re afraid of offending someone is not how progress is made. Science and medicine demands that we ask questions no matter how embarrassing or “non polite” Everything we know about HIV/AIDS today we know because of people like you sharing your experience. Thank you…

The thing that bothers me most about this is that people will not tell you that they have been infected with an incurable STD unfortunately they think they have the right to decide your future… like the scumbag I fell in love with who had herpes …He told me when I got found out I had it….. “It’s a little gift I give all my girlfriends” who the fuck is that man to say that to me after I’ve been” infected”! That’s why I never dated after that. I haven’t been with the man in over 15 years. I will never be with anyone else again. My trust was shattered. My heart was broken, and my world was never the same ever I would never do that to anyone which is why I stopped having relationships with anyone.

Isn't that literally a crime? I guess it depends on what country you live in, but if I had hard proof of him saying that I would've reported him. Of course the justice system isn't always just, so I get that. I have a friend who got gonorhea from a guy who claimed he was clean, but then it turns out he didn't actually even get tested (or so he claimed, might have actually only said that to avoid being reported for knowingly giving an STD) and he continued to deny eventhough it was literally impossible for my friend to have gotten it fron someone else. (Also before anyone reding this says anything, no this wasn't a random guy she just met.... They had known each other for a while).

When I was just 19 my first BF didn't tell me he had HIV. Not only HIV but he wasn't on meds and his t-cell count was at the AIDS level. Finally I found out from his landlord but it was too late. I trusted him and I was young and quite naive'. That was 22 years ago. Treatment is better now though and if you're undetectable you can't transmit it. Praise God! One day I believe it will be cured! To anyone who is newly diagnosed, don't give up on your dreams and live your life normally. I did give up on a lot of my dreams because it was a much different time and plus I wasn't educated on it. I didn't think I'd be around today at 41 but I am and now I'm not where I want to be in life bc I stopped really "living". God bless, love and light!

I've had one of the incurables since birth. It's mostly dormant, doesn't cause a fuss and only my pcp can detect it (bc she knows it's there). Hasn't been passed to my mate, he wanted to try before vaccinations to see if I might be just a carrier. Years later and all is still well, they predict my children will be okay but we can take precautions just in case. I do have friends who actually caught the disease from someone and what they go thru is heartbreaking. Please be safe everyone, it's not worth it.

I’ve had HPV (cancer causing type, not warts) since 2010 and I haven’t tested positive since (I get my annual gyno visits), and my last positive HPV test was nearly 15 years ago, it’s been negative every year. I was honest with my bf now husband since we met, 12 years ago and of course told him about it, and we’ve been happily married 10 years now with 2 beautiful children. I used to call myself “damaged goods.” In fact I read a book by that same title. I know they say it’s not curable but I’m healthy and haven’t had any issues (knock on wood). Just don’t stress about it. I used to be a train-wreck worrying about my “disease,” and who’d want me, etc. Incurable or not, it’s OK. And no I didn’t sleep around (I know that’s what people assume, I was quite conservative lol, it just takes 1 time). Don’t have sex with just anyone, stay celibate. Love yourself always. Most importantly, love Jesus. Take care, all.

One thing I’d also recommend adding because people see the word “incurable” and think well there’s no reason to see a doctor, I’m screwed. Incurable does not mean unmanageable so see a doctor and get help! Otherwise a great vid! Sadly I just recently found out my soon to be ex boyfriend of 6 years has been having an affair with someone who has a high probability of a STD and I doubt he was using condoms and even if he were, I still could have been exposed. Obviously beyond all of everything else getting an STD would really suck and I’ve no insurance right now. I’m hoping that I can find a clinic to get screened.

STI education is SO important, and I think part of that should also be addressing the fearmongering which I’m even seeing in these comments. Even incurable STIs are *highly* treatable. It’s not the 1980s anymore. You can be HSV, HPV, or HIV+ and have a completely normal sex life without transmitting to your partner or your children thanks to modern medicine. We should educate people to be careful AND we should educate people it’s not the end of the world if they catch something. Just like we all try to avoid getting the flu, we try to avoid getting STIs. But, if we catch it anyway, we go to the doctor and get medicine and we’ll be okay.

HSV 1 is the most common since it's spread through saliva it causes cold sores, but not everyone has a break out and can spread it without realizing it. HSV 2 you get through s£x so which is why it's called an STD. now you can get HSV 2 from your mom during v@ginal birth especially if she had flare up during the birth. I'm a doctor. I had a patient who concealed his HIV status from us. We had to operate on him urgently so at that point we were unaware of his positive status. As a precautionary we do rapid tests to screen for the viral diseases to avoid a potential exposure during operations. So at that point even though his screen was negative, we eventually came to know his positive status. It so happened that his relatives had known him to be positive for 20 years, something they hid from us even during the history taking and medical record review. Well after spending my youth in the hospital and dedicating active hours to such people I did find myself disillusioned. The anguish that followed was endless. This is not the only instance though, throughout my time in the ER there have been many accidental exposures of such kind and its an occupational hazzard in the medical field but this experience was a rude shock. It makes you loose trust in humanity as a whole.

HPV is a virus, so it stays inside your body forever*, BUT you can have such a low viral load (the amount of the virus that can be found in your body) that it is practically impossible to transmit to other people. You could always have flair ups in the future and have symptoms reoccur, but its unlikely. *there has been a case or two where someone has been entirely cured of HIV (another virus) in clinical experiments/tests, but its not anywhere near widespread enough as of yet

Please ask the partner before sex what infection they have and use protection when you don't have a test done yet. After testing for each STI decide if you want to continue the relationship or having unprotected intercourse with this partner. Not all strands of HPV are incurable. I was diagnosed with HVP. But it was just an allergic reaction to TIDE laundry detergent. I found that Boric Acid liquid will cure most viruses. Boric Acid liquid is used to cure thrush mouth in newborn babies, so it is safe. For HVP and Hepatitis use 2 drops of Boric Acid liquid, orally, for every 10 lbs of bodyweight, once a day for 6 weeks. For example, if you weight 150 lbs you would use 30 drops of Boric Acid liquid once a day for 6 weeks. You will have a ZERO viral load. 😅

SYPHILIS isn't curable if caught too late

Syphilis is easily curable with antibiotics in the early stages. If you get treatment late, it will still cure the infection and stop future damage to your body. But the damage that late stage syphilis has already caused can't be changed or healed. So no even late stage can be cured, however the damage done? Not so much...
