The real issue with Punjab is that there has been no real industrialization in the state and agriculture income tax is politically infeasible. The revenues that the state can generate are very limited and no government can meet people's expectations. Both the central and state government will have to sit down and come up with a ten/fifteen year plan to turn this ship around. Pick a couple of districts and work on bringing investments there, perhaps start with government PSUs if no one else is investing. In the medium term maybe also look at Chandigarh as a capital solely for Punjab and possibly a plan to make it an urban growth center that can in ten years become big enough to generate real revenue for the state. Some serious thinking and a plan is needed.

There are difficult trade-offs, you may have to reduce spending on infra or agri or some social welfare to fund incentives for industry or reduce cross subsidy for inputs etc. Unfortunately, in politics there is no reward for telling the truth about hard choices. All politicians have learned the way to win elections is by promising all things to all people for all time to come :)

It has taken you guys this long to touch on a sensitive issue such as this which can boil over and harm the whole nation since Punjab is India’s first armor. BJP and it’s Allies only care electorally and where they can gain votes, keep doing Mandir Masjid everyone and neglect on important issues such as this. Also Amritpal is a great idealist, he preaches religion in an effective manner and is taking care of the drug issue of his own. The only problem is that he uses the K word every now and then. If Amritpal wasn’t an advocate for Khalistan he would get even more famous between Hindus as well, since he already has a large section of Sikhs following him. Amritpal needs to rethink his strategy and drop the idea of Khalistan, if he does this then there’s no stopping him from even becoming Chief Minister in the future

Not wrong, just incomplete. You got the basic "AB" but missed the "C" and "D". C being conversions and D being drugs. Both have become real menace now and are feeding off each other. SAD got decimated in 2017 on the back of vicious "Udta Punjab" propaganda. Badal family member Manjitia himself was at the center of all attacks. He later filed defamation suits and even won against major publication houses that recklessly sullied his image. Nevertheless, the damage was already done. SAD lost its credibility and people's trust. The Amarinder Govt came in on the promise of making Punjab drug-free in 4 weeks. This was in 2017 and 3 CMs and 1 election later, the problem still persists. Meanwhile, the Conversion activities continued expanding and seeking destitute, Dalit, drug-troubled families feeding them hopes, EU/Canada visa promises, drug de-addiction miracles, and even literally rice bags. Punjab was never the most educated state. Superstition was always there, but the extent of the Dalit-Jat divide somehow got overlooked. The state became a victim of its own success. Jat Sikhs did not share the fruits of success with Dalits. Many are moving away from Hindu-Sikh folds. The Gurudwara Jathedars continue sleeping. Most of the Sikhs simply don't care as they are focussed on settling abroad (same as Hindus of Andhra), leaving the state behind for Evangelists. Agriculture isn't what it used to be. Productivity has peaked, land holdings have become smaller, the population is mainly skill-less, and most of the agriculture is done by laborers from UP-Bihar, leaving the state's affluent youth with a lot of free time. As the saying goes, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". Drugs, alcohol, and Canadian dreams are spoiling the youth. People are aware of the problems. Change is the buzzword. SAD-INC did nothing to change the status quo hence people opted for a newbie like AAP. Yet, despite ridiculous promises, the ultimate delivery has been nothing. The state needs a complete overhaul. Farm laws were actually a step in a positive direction; we all know how that went. Real sad state of affairs. Amritpal's quick rise tells you the extent of disenchantment that the people have with mainstream parties. The implosion of SAD and INC has frustrated the masses. It's been a total collapse of politics and governance. The state itself has become lethargic and offers little hope of redemption.

I think Amritpal is promoted by BJP. It's either the crooked or the naive, not sensible educated Sikhs who follow Amritpal. If you see a big crowd following him do also think what type of stagnation the state kept them in for so long that a Heroic image as that of Amritpal is luring them in. The Sikh history of wars and battles are narrated in a grand dramatised way to misguide these deeply troubled youth. State has to own up responsibility for Sikh and even some Hindu youth going in this direction and solve it at the ground level. Lesser policing more education and employment. @@yashvardhanthakur1968 I could give 100s of examples for that..will just tell few as follows:- india got independence in August 1947.. but in october 1947 a circuler was sent to ICSs that Sikhs are jarayampesha(criminal minded).. deal with them strictly.. keep them 100 km away from delhi.. they were talking about Sikhs migrated from Pakistan.. there was a canal from punjab to Rajasthan known as rajasthan feeder made by British . till 1947 princely state of Bikaner was paying royalty to govt of punjab for that water.. but after 1947 that water was made free of cost.. punjab is riparian state and has legal right on that water according to international laws and constitution of India.. then in 1955 states were made on languistic basis.. but punjab was not reorganised.. Sikhs had to fight for 11 more years gave than one lakh arrests and more than 250 lives for their state.. and still some punjabi speaking areas were not given ton us.. water of punjab again given to haryana and delhi free of cost... as both haryana and delhi are non riparian.. then holiest place of sikhs was demolished by Indian army in 1984 then sikh genocide in new delhi and other parts of India in November 1984.. no justice till date.. in rest of India president rule can be taken for 2 years maximum without general election.. but in punjab president rule can be extended to 5 years.. SGPC is for management of Sikh GURUDWARAS.. it is only religious organisation whose elections are done under govt of India.. and Indian govt has not announced elections since 12 years.. imagine parliament of India being ruled by same people without election for 12 years... here they don't announce elections untill their favourable party is strong ..
