About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday we are able to transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

You might try leather or cloth for Toby’s door. Plastic below freezing isn’t good. I used to live in North Dakota and it always went to -40° and the lining in my purse would crack all the time, until I got a purse with a cloth lining. So during this time I found natural products like leather and cloth far superior to plastic.

Morgan...That Hat! We have the Claw Crew barn cat team and a sheepdog and I think I'm really more worried about them than they are worried about themselves. They roll around in the snow even on cold days and they will in fact find shelter from the wind on their own. I have some heated barn cats houses that they use when they need to. Our chickens combs aren't faring so well though. The geese and the ducks seems to be more hardy than the chickens and the geese certainly miss grazing on fresh grass. I can't wait til spring cause I want to get moving on building a new goose house design I've been working on. And yes winter turds are easier on the nose than summer turds lol even with the poultry. Have a great one, Chad from up in Ontario, Canada.

Fun fact, Celcius is in correlation to water freezing temps and fahrenheit is in correlation to whats safe to humans, So basically water freezes at 0, in the case of fahrenheit anything below 0 is unsafe for humans ! So if you think what hes doing is overkill its not ! He's taking proper safety Precautions. And obv Kelvin is absolute 0 If you hit 0 that's the coldest cold CAN GET (-274 Degrees C / -460 F)blah blah blah, But yeah for those use only one temp measurement I find that this explanation has helped me understand other measurements of heat better :) Hope it helps someone else out there ! LOVE MORGANS VIDEOS LOADS ! I knew nothing about farming before I discovered this channel, Then I got hooked on Toby, Ginny, Pablo, Kurt, The ducks the geese and ofc Morgan's biggest nemisis the electric fence when he used to forget to turn it off and zapping the top of his head LMAO

You are showing us step by step HOW you care for your animals and you are NOT lecturing your audience. You are speaking from EXPERIENCE. Seeing what you've done Morgan, you've obviously planned and worked hard to keep your animals safe 🐕 and well cared for right down to the last little duckling.🦆 Oh, yeah, I wanted to say that I when I was a teenager I used to have a tabby cat like Jenny, her name was Hester. Love the hat, appreciate the information and always enjoy seeing all the farm animals. Carry a cell phone or something to get help with if you should get hurt out there by yourself. I fell on ice and broke my knee and wrist. Though I have close neighbors, no one could hear me calling (closed windows) for help. It was 11 degrees. I had to drag myself 20 feet thru snow to the steps and hop up 4 stairs on one leg to call for help. I always carry my cell phone now even if I'm just going out to feed the birds.

She was ran over today and passed away. Im not looking for pity or whatsoever, i just want you to remember that life is a gift and that all lives are priceless. We have to forgive and love because everything can dramatically change. And when its too late, you understand that only a few things mattered. So love your family, tell them and remember that everything can change in the matter of a second!

I work at a zoo in Illinois. We mainly have native species, including cows, duck, geeze, cats bobcats coyotes etc. It is so cool to see how they all adapt to the cold. It's hilarious to me when I walk into work,-5 degrees freezing my ass off. Then i pass the duck pond and see a flock of wild ducks sitting in the water happy as can be. (Our ducks are kept inside when it's really cold). Just so interesting our perception of temperature vs animals who are actually adapted for jt

Humans have an amazing ability to adapt to any temperature given the chance. We’ve been programmed to think cold is bad, but actually it’s good for us. It’s all in how you prepare for it. Same with heat. It matters what you eat, that will effect you more than the clothing you wear, or as much as.

Animals in the winter just need a place to be dry and out of the wind, in any climate. Their fur and feathers will do the rest. I wonder if there is such a thing as solar water heaters for the critters - seems like it would make your chores a little easier. But then again, they will still keep getting their water dirty.
