You don’t even need to implement all of these systems to ensure you get a stat. It’s a good idea but no one would have an issue if you didn’t only had 4 chances a day with condensed resin. Just make the domains a gauntlet where it gets progressively harder and you “go until you lose”. The further you get, the more 5 stars drop. Reach floor 8-9 and not only does it extend gameplay but you get 8-10 5 star drops.

I am a newly fresh AR 58 and I have only used my resin twice on an artifact domain. This was due to friendly peer pressure otherwise I would have never done an artifact domain. Both in the Husk of Opulent dreams/Ocean hued clam sets. The first time it was accidentally a low level domain so I only got 4 stars. The 2nd time I got two 5 star artifacts, both the set that I wanted as the Husk set. Both Goblets. One was Atk% with. substats 7.8 crit rate 11.7 crit dmg 18.8 er. The other was a Geo Dmg Goblet which I still have not leveled up. It is a 3 liner with no crit substats. Wish the main stat could have just switched so 40 resin spent and a great artifact. Never doing an artifact domain again for at least a year or someone peer pressures me again. I'll find something else to level up this must be why I don't complain or feel as much pain as all my other friends. HIghest crit rate is 10.9 on a crit dmg circlet and highest crit dmg substat is 35 on an em circlet with no crit rate most of my artifacts are just gladiator and wanderer and I can beat abyss 33 stars. Artifacts are pain.

I think the substat-focused method would be better honestly, even for casual players. If you ask me the changes they should implement are: get rid of flat substats, make all 5-star artifacts have 4 substats, and get rid of substat value RNG. I think that would remove sufficient RNG to drastically improve the player experience, and it would benefit both hardcore and casual players because now there's still RNG but once you get the set and main stat you want you are much more sure of a good artifact.

i think the simplest way to "fix" artifacts is just giving every stat the same probability of appearing, you're still at the mercy of rng but it's a lot less annoying😭😭 i haven't gotten an em artifact in months

One thing that can be implemented to the artifacts is that, whenever there's a stat like atk%, that would lock the option of getting flat atk and viceversa. This just limits the total combinations possible so doesn't fix much of the problem but I'd take whatever RNG reduction I can get. That combined with the capability to guarantee a main stat is also a great suggestion since you still need to roll substats to get a workable build.

5:04 There are actually 9 levels of RNG of farming artifacts: 1-Getting the set you want 2-Getting 1 or 2 artifacts for every 20 resin 3-Getting the piece you want, out of 5 possibilities (flower, feather, sands, goblet, circlet) 4-Getting the main stat you want 5-Getting the substats that you want 6-These substats can come at 3 or 4 7-Even if you get the substats that you wanted, they can come as a “low roll” or a “high roll” 8-Every time you upgrade an artifact, the upgrade have to go to a stat that you want 9-Even if the substat upgraded was the one you wanted, again, you can have a “low roll” or a “high roll” every time

@Laurent Yea, outside of abyss you can get just use a random crit rate circlets, atk% goblet and a er sands (Unless the substats rolled into er then just use atk). It’s not optimal but with the difficulty we have it is enough to get by, and if substats roll well enough it’s more than enough usually (unless it’s abyss of course).

I had an idea for an Ephitomized Path equivalent for artifacts where you can select the type of piece and it's main and sub sats in exchange for an increase in the pity number, like you just want a Geo Goblet ? 20 artifacts and then you're guaranteed . Oh you want it to also have both Crit rate and damage ? That'll push it to 50 artifacts before guarantee . That way it'll still be mostly random in how it upgrades but you'll at least be guaranteed to get what you want eventually Also all flat substats should be removed and all 5 star artifacfs should be 4 liners

The solution that I always dreamed of is an artifact fusion system, where you can combine 4 sub-stats from 4 different artifacts into 1 unique artifact. It won't change the already existing RNG system, but it will make that, eventually, you'll get a perfect artifact by combining 4 different not-so-good ones. If Hoyoverse wants to make the system harder, it could make the system only work with artifacts of the same set, type, level (+20) and main stat, but even so, it won't be as frustrating as the current system, because eventually you'll get an artifact with a good crit rate or crit dmg but other terrible sub-stats and it won't be a total waste.

So I always thought to help make strongboxes actually significant, the chance of getting a type of artifact should be based on what you feed into it, so for example of you want a sands then you can feed 3 sands to get one, or if you want everything but a flower and a feather, you can just not add those to the 3-count. To further clarify, let's say you have 2 goblets and a crown to put into the 3-requirement, you'll have a 66% chance to get a goblet and a 33% chance to get a crown, and 0% chance to get anything else, so you basically select your rates for your strongbox rewards. Maybe this is a flawed system or not very balanced but I've had this concept in my head since it's addition, I was bummed that your artifact type you gained was 100% up to rng, not up to what you feed into it. You still wouldn't get to chose which stats you got but you at least get some choice and I actually would considering using strongboxes more often outside of the newer ones being added. Also congrats on the WoWS sponsorship! It's actually a pretty good game, fun with friends, and well-respected in general, so I'm glad you can get your bag and on a decent product at that 👍

Your idea is pretty good. I can get rid of my Millelith EM circlets and get VV EM circlets like this. Each domain has a different RNG system for the main and sub stats, which makes farming Def pieces for Albedo a nightmare, whereas Def pieces are easily available in other domains. I think introducing equal RNG for main stats is just as important.

I love this idea! It feels really doable, like Mihoyo wouldn't have a hard time implementing it and they wouldn't have much of a reason not to. Just like the strongbox change they're already adding, it makes the players more likely to farm artifacts almost endlessly because there's actually a use for them even if they suck, which is exactly what they want as a company, especially because a lot of people use their extra primos to get resin for farming. I would love to see this implemented!

5:52 This issue is exactly what convinced me as early as 1.0 to not farm artifacts at all (i came back to it a few times, did like 3-4 domain runs and quit again until i ultimately stopped entirely) Everything else you can spend Resin on will give you minimal progress at least, but on Artifacts you can entirely waste your Resin, and having my first experience with Artifact Domains be to spend several hundred and not get a single piece that's better than what i have was devastating...

Sometimes I'll spend months on artifact domains for specific sub-stats. I've been farming Emblem of Severed Fates & Shiminawa since the beginning of this year, mostly every single day. I'm still trying to get my Raiden Shogun to a decent crit ratio smh. If there was someway to re-roll substats or add a pity system for a specific stat on an artifact, it'll finally end my suffering lmao

In Epic Seven, they have an equipment event once in a blue moon, when using energy, you get points that allow you to choose a set and main stat. Then you reroll randomly for sub-stats(which includes the random ranges). So maybe Genshin can do like a point system that after a certain amount a resin or a certain amount of times farming a domain, you get to choose those things. With this being a pve and not a hybrid like epic seven, they could be a little more lenient. Stronghold boxes getting a buff is nice but it’s definitely not enough. I want to use more characters(especially getting at least one other team for spiral abyss) but farming hours upon hours for a chance at building one character with just the right main stats let alone sub stats doesn’t feel good.

wish they'd just add an "auto-claim" system. it'll still cost resin, but if there's been a time where you cleared the domain under a set amount of time, you'll be able to auto claim artifacts from the domain menu. I don't understand how they haven't added this. it would get rid of the tedious "killing the same mob wave over and over" and make it very much more bearable at least.

I like the 2nd option because it does not invalidate a "good artifact" which rolled mostly on less desirable substats. In essence it's as if you are "building" that good artifact to reroll on your desired substats. I think that this system will bring balance because it's still going to be rng and it would be a grind, however it will reward players with a clear end goal of getting their ideal artifact and will temper that frustration because you'll always have that option.

here’s my idea to solve this problem in a realistic way: once an artifact is lvl. 20, the player can choose to reverse it back to lvl. 1, making it lose all upgrades (still same 3 or 4 substats tho), but leaving the possibility to roll on other (better) substats or to gain a better 4th substat. for that to happen, the player has to lose something ofc, for example the player would get 100% mora back, but only 85% of the EXP in form of sanctifying essence. benefits of that: as long as you receive a piece from the right set and with your desired main and substats (or at least passable ones), you are eventually guaranteed to get closer to a perfect artifact as ever before. they could even go as far as letting you choose how many lvls. you want to reverse, but let’s keep it at the basic idea for now.

This could lead to a great system. Each time you reset the artifact you can increase the probability of a roll in one of its substats. Each time you reset the item you can keep increasing the probability so essentially you end up with a hard pity on artifacts where if you just dump enough xp into it eventually you will get what you want.

Similar to an idea I have. Say you get an artifact with double crit, atk%, and energy recharge. You'll get three of that exact same artifact. So if it doesn't roll well the first time, you get two more chances. Also, I think they should implement an xp system similar to upgrading weapons, where any wasted xp is converted to sanctifying essence.

The second option is exactly what I've been wanting artifacts to be like since playing Tales of Arise. In that, you craft and upgrade accessories, which are pretty much exactly like artifacts with one main stat and four substats,. You can make the "perfect" accessory by taking substats from "bad" accessories and putting them on the "good" accessory you want them on.

I got a great HP timepiece for Yelan with ER, ATK and both crit substats. Maxed it and every roll went to ATK so I'm gutted, making me want the substat re rolling even more

In another gacha game, Crossing Void, they also run on a similar artifact system. However, they actually do have somewhat of a solution to it. They have an item that you can get from events, like a crown, that can change the substat of an artifact to something more desirable like crit damage. Not saying it would work in GI but something to consider.

The worst part in artifact farming for me is that evaluating which artifacts to level and when to stop becomes very time consuming eventually. You need to compare with what you already have in slot/set, how many of this set you need, whether an artifact can be better for at least for some character despite not rolling as much cr/cd, etc. Actually finishing the domains is trivial time investment in comparison. I keep pushing away this tedious work, so most of my 1500 artifacts slots are occupied by +4 or +8 stuff, that isn't good enough to max as priority, but still retains small chance to be decent. Or +0 items with wrong mainstat for any existing character, but both cr + cd, which could become good for some future character.

Honestly, your second method is the only way for them to make artifact grinding slightly enjoyable. Slowly progressing towards getting those perfect sub stats but still having the need to grind benefits both of us (players and devs), you still need to grind a lot of artifacts to level up your artifacts and to get the reroll mats, but it at least won't make us feel worthless when you get a max value crit artifact only for it to roll flat def

I think there's a simpler solution. You're focused on the number of RNG layers, but that's not the only problem with the RNG. If you think about it in terms of dice, it's not just that there are 7 dice. It's also that each die is a D20. Removing negative or wasteful options from the pool would help nearly as much as removing layers entirely. For example - flat attack, defence and HP are unquestionably worthless. They could be removed entirely or removed from all 4 star and above artifacts. This would greatly increase the chances of useful substats. Similarly, you could combine the goblets - they could be physical damage and elemental damage, for example. The elemental damage would then just be whatever element you are. This would make it possible/unnecessary to get an on-set goblet, rather than having some weird cryo damage witches cup.

The point of the video is a realistic solution that helps encourage artifact farming for players AND still keeps Hoyoverse's point of getting players to continue farming infinitely. Removing the not ideal substats and combining goblet stats will mean that players get all the benefits, while Hoyoverse does not.

An easy way to fix artifact farming in genshin would be that every 4 levels, instead of a random substat upgrade, it allows you to choose which stat to improve. This immediately makes artifacts with 'risky' substats (like awesome crit dmg but also flat def) viable.

I personally tend to favor being able to reroll substats but one big change I want to see is for goblets from artefact sets that are obviously meant for a certain element to be unable to roll with an elemental dmg bonus for another element. Getting a blizzard strayer cup with a pyro damage bonus is just dumb and nobody is going to ever use that. Now for sets that aren’t tailor made for a specific element like shimenawa they could still roll with all elemental bonuses, it could be rougher to get a shimenawa pyro cup for example but you could farm crimson witch knowing that your chances are higher since you get one off piece if you want a 4piece bonus.

the main thing that would really make artefact farming better for me would just be simply removing flat stat substats the strongbox update is also a nice W since that does eliminate the possibility of getting the wrong set and just going for the one you want. i don't need maidens or lavawalker so that will help getting crimson pieces for my klee. like you said this does just tackle the first layer of rng.

I really wish they would add some form of rerolling artifact stats. One time I got a 4 piece def percent sands with crit rate and crit dmg. I jokingly rolled it to see how it would turn out and surprise surprise it all went into crit rate…. It has 22 percent crit rate

Personally what id like to see is a system like summoners war has. Ive played that game for years (though i dont anymore) and that game lets you refresh your energy fully for 30 crystals. Basicly it would be like getting 200 resin for 40 primos without a limit or increase in price. That way you would be able to farm a lot more if you decided to do so and people would probably even spend more money so it seems like a win win for the company also

Many say that with what they are going to add in 3.0 farming artifacts will be easier, and for me it is the opposite. Not only you are going to spend 3 artifacts to get one that is sure to be DEF, but you are also going to lose experience to raise the artifacts that are worth it.

The strongbox is an amazing deal though. In any given domain, the chance of spending 20 resin and getting an artifact from the set you want (for example, if you want thundering fury rather than thundersoother) is 50%. So in practice, if you want a thunder fury piece, you'll need to spend 40 resin. When you have 3 garbage 5 star artifacts, you have two choices: use them as food, or turn them into an artifact. 3 5 star artifacts give 11,340 exp, and for comparison, sanctifying essence gives 10,000 exp, making them very similar in value. By turning 3 5 star artifacts into a thunder fury piece, you're basically getting 40 resin worth of an artifact without spending resin at all. That's far better than a slightly better sanctifying essence.

I've been using it on the noblesse strongbox and have multiple full noblesse sets without ever setting foot in the noblesse domain.

i dont ever want to farm VV again to just get maiden. Resin is the most limited item in game also you can do artifact routes if you lack arts exp. Sometimes I even convert some artifacts to mora because I dont want to use my resin to farm mora hahah.

the substat change is what I am keep thinking about. I played Closers and the Seven Deadly Sins mobile game both had items for this purpose what the game gave you sh*t tons of times from daily logins to quest rewards and event rewards everything, and of course, getting your desired substats is still a long way to go with this - still rng dependant - method, BUT you have the chance to make a trash or slightly okay piece into something awesome. Of course it would need to take a while if you wanna do this for each character, each piece and each stat so it wouldn't entirely take away the need for artifact farming anyways but it would make it less nerve-wrecking imo.

The substat-focused method is implemented in Honkai Impact where substats called "affixes" can be rerolled (additionally, you can keep your old roll if you don't like the new rerolled values). There is a material where you can lock one of the two affixes from being changed when rerolling. There are also materials that guarantee that both affixes are ATK and the value will fall in the highest tier range. Both types of materials are farmable, albeit very slow. It's still very welcomed though given the competitive nature of the game (i.e. leaderboards, maintaining your placement in higher brackets, boss rush, etc).

Goblets are always the artefact that is off-set. Getting ideal sub stats AND the specific elemental % damage bonus on the correct set piece is so statistically unlikely that you should, never, EVER aim for it. It's a voluntary headache and a waste of Resin. Also note that for a lot of characters, particularly sub-DPS that spend most of their time off-field, the difference between an Atk% Goblet and an ED% Goblet is marginal (10-20% DPS difference) that you should use an Atk% Goblet with decent substats in the absence of an ED% Goblet or in place of an ED% Goblet with poor substats. Getting feathers and flowers are relatively fine. Always aim for the right substats here. You'll get more than enough of them to find both with 30%+ Crit value. Sands are annoying but not impossible. You can expect to go a few weeks before you see a decent sands with correct main stat and decent substats (but don't compromise with this one). Crowns is where you have to compromise. Finding either a Crit Damage AND Crit Rate Crown is slim, and the one you need is dependent on your weapon, character ascension and substats of your existing artifact pieces. You might find a great CD crown with godly substats but... You already have high Crit Damage. You want Crit Rate instead. So long as the rest of your artifact pieces are quite balanced, rolled quite high and close to a 1:2 Crit Rate to Crit Damage ratio... Don't worry about finding the perfect crown. You can settle with a subpar one with the right main stat, and periodically look for an upgrade but focus on building another character instead. It will do.

I feel like there should be a system that allows you to exchange an artifact's maximum potential to get the stats you want. IE: You can't grind to create a 100% optimal artifact with the proper main stat and 9 ideal substat rolls, but you could maybe guarantee you'll eventually get the proper main stat with 6-7 good substat rolls. (Exact #'s may vary) It makes it so that you can get what you need and always end up with "good" artifacts, but keeps the element of hunting for that ultimate rare artifact, allowing insane investment to give you some differentiation from most players.

I have no issues on destroying the same monsters on one domain. My only gripe is the goddamn resin refill speed. 8 minutes? At least 7-5 minutes will be enough since there will be more weekly/world bosses coming.

This is the only thing that kept me away from the game. I really want to get into it, build my awesome characters, then I remember the fucking endless tedious grind. In gw2, ffxiv, ragnarok, hell I guess every MMORPG out there. When you grind it will finally paid off. This shit? There's no fucking guarantee, u just pray to RNGesus for a good loot which may never come. OH and they're locked behind resin ffs.

I notice there are certain days when one artifact set is more prominent than the other. It sucks when you're trying to farm one and keep getting the other. What really sucks though is that it's so boring. Same thing everytime. I wish they would implement a dungeon like other games where it's an actual process, and not just a stage

I tried farming up some Crimson Witch of Flames pieces for some of my pyro chars, and had to stop after just a couple days. It honestly felt like I was just dumping my resin in the trash. I just slap Glad's Nostalgia or Wanderer's Troupe on all my chars now.

agreed! i'd say if resin was "unlimited" or easier to get, then artifact farming won't be as bad. Those who wanna grind for the perfect artifact set can, and others who don't wanna farm as much won't feel as bad cause they aren't wasting a whole day's worth of resin on just prioritizing artifacts.

One small remark: you are guaranteed to get one gold artifact per 20 resin not because of your rank, but only if you complete the highest tier challenge (enemies level 90). True, this challenge only available at AR 45+, but many players think they will automatically get their gold artifacts just because of their rank. While in reality, they realistically can only pass the lower level challenges. Bottom line is: you need to level your characters first, and then advance your adventure rank.

The artifact system is (I think) the only system in the game that has no "cap", so putting a cap on it, in some or all areas, seems logical. Another implementation that can help and I think would be great, is the ability to "fuse" artifacts together by sacrificing a few and then being able to choose at least some of the sub-stats from those artifacts being sacrificed. Also, there is no reason why I have to repeat the same domain for 3 months (yes, I farmed the same domain everyday for 3 months for Hu Tao and still didn't get what I wanted). Sure, I'm forced to spend more time in the game, but with every run I also feel more like I should leave the game. At least let us use multiple condensed resins at once so we don't have to repeat the same mindless process over and over again. At the very least do it for the artifact domains if you don't want to do it for all.

I think the main problem lies in getting an artifact that rolls good enough that you can use it. Therefore, having a system where you can reroll the substats of an already lvl 20'd artifact with some resource like dream solvent would be ideal. This would change the rolls into substats.

I think system that guarantees RNG levels 1 to 4 would be good. It would work similarly to the Main Stat Essence idea, but instead of replacing the main stat of an existing artifact, it creates a new artifact selector of that piece type that can be combined with itself to higher tiers. So 3 goblets can let you choose the main stat, 9 goblets can let you choose the main stat and 1 sub stat, all the way up to 243 goblets to choose main stat and 4 sub stats.

"opposite effect" i loved genshin and it had a lot of good points the story, the characters, the beautiful environment, the puzzles, and the exploration of the game and having played it since release... i let it go about a year ago because of artifact farming i understand the whole "they shouldn't hold your hand and it shouldn't be too easy to get what you want and you should feel satisfaction towards finally obtaining it because you worked hard for it" but it was way too much grinding months for 1 artifact and never obtaining it really just turned me off from the grind all together and i'm one of those who don't enjoy the game unless i'm at my strongest (savage/ulti raider in ff) since i like doing a a lot of damage and i like to think i'm pretty good at sensing if something is fair and this isn't especially since most of the community has been complaining about it for quite awhile if one day they fix this maybe i'll come back because the game is wonderful, but until then i'm not gonna waste my time

Honestly, all they have to do is literally just increase drop rates of all elemental cup's an make all artifacts 4 substats at lvl 0. Then add section to the strong box to add 3 5* artifacts to create one from scratch of that set an you pick main an sub stats but the upgrade roll is still rng.

I believe the best solution would be having the ability to allocate in whichever stat you choose when leveling up an artifact. However, it would cost mora to do so and the amount of the stat would be random like how it is now. The amount of mora would depend on the rarity of the artifact. Maybe 10,000 or higher for 5 star artifacts. It would ask to allocate so you can still get random stats if you wished. It doesn't get rid of the all the rng, but it gets rid of the worst part. Which is having a good artifacts with only one bad substat and only rolling that substat.

5* pieces always starting with 4 substats would be a nice improvement. My main idea for fixing the artifact problem is limiting the main stats that clock, goblet and hat pieces can roll into; Clock: HP, Defense, Attack, Recharge Goblet: Damage Bonus Hat: Mastery, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Healing So that with another system that offers some control over substats would strike a good balance maybe.

I kinda wish they narrow down the possibilities for main stat. Like for Goblets you ony get ATK%, Elemental DMG specific to the set, EM, hell even Def% and HP%. Making that deductuon to goblets helps a lot. While for sands and circlet, i wish they made it equal chances

Hoyoverse should: - Give all stats and substats the same drop chance, or at least distribute them more equally. The difference in drop rate between HP% and Elemental Mastery as main stats doesn't make any sense. - Add a consumable item that lets you change a stat or sub stat of any artifact. And if that's too generous for them, they can even cap that item so that it can be used only once a week. - Allow the player to choose what piece you want to craft in the strongbox. - Remove flat sub stats.

Trove has a system similar to artifacts and they have some great QOL features I'd love to see genshin "borrow." Crystals in trove have random substats that get unlocked/upgraded as you level the crystal. The substats, much like genshin, have random ranges they can be upgraded as well. To account for all the RNG, you're able to not only change the substats, but also change where the substat upgrades go and how much it was increased. So if I have a crystal with a crit rate and HP substat and upgrading the crystal gives me a low roll into HP not only can I move the roll to crit rate, I can change it to a max roll, and then change the HP substat to something more preferable. Mind you its not cheap to do, but the ability to mold and perfect the artifacts without RNG feels incredible

I’ve believed since like 1.4 that substat rolls should be selectable, which would make stat distribution on each artifact much more skill based. The random part that’s healthy and should stay is the potency of each roll. (5.4 - 7.8 CD for example) Edit: obviously the sub stats that come with the artifact upon receiving it should still be random, forgot to mention that, but you should be able to decide which of the received stats are increased.

the strongbox already allows you to forfeit three random artefacts for the desired set, but let’s just go further with that system: for 6 random artefacts you get the desired piece from the desired set for 9 artefacts you additionally get the main stat you want for 12 one substat, for 15 two substats, for 18 three substats and for 21 four substats you desire. with some quick maths this means that every like 10 domains cleared you receive one piece you actually want, assuming all pieces you normally got were trash and you don’t want to use any. seems too nice at first, but considering the facts that 21 artefacts still cost around 400 resin and the substat rolls would still be random, it seems fair.

One feature i would like to be added is allowing us to reroll an artifact by resetting it to +0 and keep the 4th gained if it was initially a 3 substats artifact. The requirements to do said reset would be to have the artifact at +20. The material used for this would be the Dream Solvent, and there should be a weekly limit on how much times you may reset an artifact. I consider this a realistic option which gives not only an alternative to keep ideal substats artifacts that rolled terribly, but also a reason to farm all 6 weekly bosses besides talent materials and billets. More stuff to do weekly for those who want to make of Genshin casual style something of a fraction of what a korean rpg is because, after all, artifacts are the very endgame and it should be challenging to get them, but not as horrible as it currently is. Ps: I'm AR 59 and so far i only have one 40cv artifact, and it isn't even in set of a dps character...

They should just introduce some type of artifact crafting system similar to your first suggestion imo instead when you disenchant/disassemble an artifact you get the main stat essence, sub stat essence and some artifact fragments to craft a new artifact. So when you disassemble the artifact you can use the fragments to craft specifics pieces (flower,feather,goblet,sands,crown) but it turns into an empty artifact where you can slot in the main stat essences and sub stat essences. For substat essences once you've slotted the 4 you want the artifact then would have a certain amount you can upgrade the substats depending on the artifact level and you'd feed more essences of the substat you want to increase the level (the level being the way substats work now) of the desired substat. Also the higher the substat when disassembled the more points it will have when slotting into a substat slot example would be a crit stat that is at base versus a crit stat that has been upgraded 3 times from leveling an artifact will be at a higher level when slotting in it. I feel this would give a lot more player agency in the artifact process and would also still encourage grinding because you'd want substat essences to level up substats in the artifacts also I feel then you could keep the substat tiers RNG just for people who would want to min max.

I am more toward the second option for some reasons. First of all, with my experiences of other gacha games, most of the time they have a system of currencies to reroll mainstat and/or substats with RNG on the stat and the tier. After that an other currency with lock stat to change the tier. Sometimes always upward or fail, sometimes including under the previous tier depending on the currency. On the other hand the implementation of a system like this is very complex to integrate. The thing I want to focus on is the item and the number of it that you need to reroll and the number you get in the game. Genshin Impact is a game with a lot of small numbers when we talk about obtainable object in your inventory and transfered or item modification. Most of the time it is a 3 to 1 ratio (monster drop, artefact strongbox, talent and weapon mats, ...). Sometimes we have 1 to 1 ratio (dream solvent), and the most expensive is with the 20 dust you use for elemental stone exchange. How many unit of that item do you need to reroll a stat or increase one of them? After that, how can you get them and how many? This need more reflexion RNG can be spicy and very engaging. A guaranteed way at the end is a fair accomplishment. Because to be honest their are to much layers of RNG and for me the most ridiculous and the most frustrating layers are the 3-4 start stat lines and the tier range. I had actually thought about a similar thing before: artifact salvaging. In the menu a new tab would be added, which is for artifact salvaging. Once the piece has the max number of substats possible, you can put random artifacts with the same substat to change one that's currently present, with a cap for each artifact. It would still randomly roll the value (for example, it will never be 7.8% crit dmg but random), but it remains less rng and would still improve player experience imo. If you salvage later down the line, you could still get the desired substat, but it would be with 0 rolls

I wish defense stat/substat was removed completely from the domains that do not include defense/hp reliant artifact sets. Like, I was farming new dendro sets since the recent update release... And almost EVERY artifact had defense as the main stat, and the few that didn't have one, had BOTH def/def% substats. 💀💀💀 And that's how I end up with dendro traveller having 4* artifacts instead of 5*. Bruuuh. I can feel my sanity slowly draining with every def artifact.

One of the major factors in my declining interest in Genshin was artifacts, the moment I obtained Eula in her debut banner, I spent from that day on to farm her artifact piece which is the 4 piece pale flame, I spent so many months until the February of 2022 grinding for a remotely decent physical gob or crit rate hat, and as you have guessed, I still don't have those, all my other chars (which are elemental are characters) I got them all decently built, not perfect but to the point where I can get some generous amount of dps, the only time I got my desired artifact substat, mainstats is all on my beidou pieces, afterwards I never got a remotely decent artifact, and when I do get a crit dmg or rate on any substats, it would never roll on them

The probability of getting a physical damage goblet is so low that you should put that as an off piece. I play Eula. The next hardest is crit in a circlet.

Just got a 4 liner, double crit artifact yesterday. All 5 rolls are on crit. But they are all low rolls and it barely hit 40 CV. The level of rng in this game is unreal. Guess I'll have to spend another half a year worth of resin in that blizzard domain.

At the end of the day, I think the community fuels this. You don't need perfect artifacts to clear the game. Not even close. I think they need a way to do inefficient farming without resin, but the current system is fine for me because once I have a good enough artifact set, I'm not obsessed with getting a perfect set, but I don't farm for them because slowly upgrading my set is fun. The main thing is I'm not "chasing the jone's" obsessively chasing the perfect artifacts that people flex in the community. I realize that there are a lot of people who hate knowing there is a perfect artifact set out there and they don't have it. Seems like a terrible cycle, and game companies encourage it because it keeps the obsessed engaged and spending money.

The issue imo with artifacts is that it exacerbates the already toxic discussion of meta. Non-meta units require better ratios than meta units and that caveat is too much for a decent chunk of the community and calls such characters trash. Considering how rampant tier lists and people weaponizing statistics are in the community, it's hard not to get bogged down and not think that someone's being attacked for maining a non-meta unit.

Since there isnt really any endgame content until new updates, there should be something that keeps players entertained. At this rate, getting a new character is easier than building said character.

i like the concept of getting a new resource that lets you modify artifact substats freely. sure, the RNG on mainstat sucks, but once you get the correct piece and mainstat, you are practically guaranteed for a good artifact since you can modify the substats at will. it might take a while but you'll get there eventually.

While I still standby my opinion that the existing amount of artifact RNG is absurd, especially when farming is strictly timegated, the super-low net odds might be what they are as a temporary excuse for Genshin's lack of proper endgame content and/or the game's total amount of permanent content atm. After launch, why was the Original Resin cap increased from 120 to 160 and both Condensed and Transient Resin introduced? Why were Mystic Offerings added and then gained more support in version 3.0? All of these things theoretically reduce the average amount of playtime required to get a particular outcome for all and/or more artifact sets. Strongboxes eliminate the first 50/50 from outputted artifacts. **You do not need and should NEVER have to farm "perfect" artifacts to beat any high-stakes combat challenge.** With that said, what are the most important characteristics that dictate keeping or discarding any given artifact, for "ALL" players? #1) The set from the domain. (1/2) #2) Type of pierce. (1/5) #3) Or sub-stats of Flower and Plume. Main Stat of Sans, Goblet* and Circlet. (Probabilities Vary) * Tectone's suggestion to consolidate the eight %E-DMG stats into simply "Elemental DMG Bonus", at 20%-35% chance (increasing Physical DMG Bonus chance to at least 10% in the process) would be huge and NOT game-breaking as some people may think. The only way I can possibly see this become a problem is if HoYoverse wants to introduce dual-elemental characters, like Delusional Childe. (Correct if I'm wrong here): For namely Venti's and Kazuha's burst, the added damage from absorbing another element is only 1/2 and less than 1/3 of the base DoT respectively. EM goblet would still lead to more damage overall with Swirl factored in. At the end of the day, artifact RNG by itself is not Genshin Impact's biggest issue, but that does not mean HoYo should stop tinkering with it entirely.

Basically. Luck will give you what you want, but you need systems that can accommodate those without luck. At the very least, very long term commitment should always be rewarded

I don't farm artifacts anymore. Only when a new domain drops, that is especially made for a character and only if I have not already built that character. Ex: I have built my Xiao very good before his domain dropped, so I didn't farm it, I don't have a reason to 🤷♀️

I've been telling Hoyo about Substat Rerolling in surveys for almost a year now. Glad to see people are starting to catch on that shallow stuff like "no resin" or "rotating sets/slots" won't solve the root problem...

While I've been playing since 1.0, I have still been rather naïve at varying degrees depending on how long I've been playing. I shudder to think about how many good Artifacts I might have gotten rid of because of naivety/stupidity.

I was thinking that like how we find radiant spin crystals in places in the overworld, we could perhaps find objects, items' or collectables that can be used in the RNG process. It would either block out a substat in rolling, or we could have it increase the chances of rolling a substat we want instead. Perhaps another collectable that drops from monsters or other enemies that increase the rates of getting certain artifact pieces. Why construct it this way instead def a far easier approach? Well, if you just straight up make artifact min-maxing and bypassing several layers of RNG, you end up making characters too strong for provided content. Thus, my proposal gives everyone something to do that further let's us crush content easily. Thank god that artifacts and how well built characters are dont make puzzles easier, besides killing enemies that show up with each step of the puzzle.

Just add artifact upgrade/enchanment system to make your best artefact godly like others game. Tbh, at endgame you just wanna get perfect artifact with above 40cv, not usable one. And usable artifact acrually is enough to clear all hard contenr in genshin. The best perfect artifact us just for satisfication, dont even need best in slot artifact to make it work, as long as it was universal like emblem, or 2p2p atk% for almost everybody. Although ant improvement in the system is acceptable
