I am a huge fan of Me becoming the new GM. I will Make Miami Great Again. It starts by having the best offensive and defensive line. I do not care about a QB, I care about giving the QB the most time to throw or open lanes for the RB and have a 4 man rush that stops runs and gets to the QB.

@@davidsawyers8754 no but I care about the quarterback because the quarterback has to be able to read defense otherwise he would get fooled into throwing a pic also he has to know mismatches and how to take advantage of them it's way bigger than just having to throw to a open receiver

I like Alec Halaby, assistant GM from the Philadelphia Eagles. He's probably my number #1 candidate. Analytics-driven guy, Harvard degree, almost 20 years in the Eagles organization. Worked in basically everything there: 5 years as VP of Football Operations, 2 years as Player Personnel Analyst, 3 years as Assistant GM. According to the Eagles website, his job is "focused on player evaluation, roster management, and resource allocation, with a particular emphasis on integrating traditional and analytical methods in decision-making." He also has a great interview with Jourdan Rodrigue in her podcast at The Athletic. Would love your opinion on him, Kyle.

Could have stayed at our original pick in 2021 and took Chase or even Sewell would have been a better pick all things considered. Waddle is good. 6th overall good? Nah. Sewell is a HOF Tackle... And O line is still a massive issue. WR is a much easier position to fill.

No prospective GM worth anything will agree to a shotgun marriage with McDaniel. It’ll be Philbin and Hickey all over again. Hickey was like Ross’ 5th choice or something because no one of any merit wanted Philbin, as HC: So all you got was a one year wonder with Hickey who was just happy to be there. Any real GM is going to want to hire his own HC. If Grier goes, McDaniel must go too. But the one that really has to go is Ross. Does anyone in all seriousness think Ross is capable of hiring a competent GM and HC after his decade and a half long record of utter failure?

There aren't any "real GMs" out there, you basically get one chance, if you fail you will never get another GM job. We got TV draft guys like Mike Mayock getting GMs jobs. He didn't work his way up the ladder. John Lynch was a ex player, went into broadcasting, asked Kyle Shanahan to keep him in mind for a GM job after he left Atlanta. He didn't rise up the ranks and do years of college scouting. Heck might as well hire Tom Brady to be GM, at least we know he will watch tons of film and players will respect him.

Great stuff, Kyle! My only counter is that bad oline builds predate McDaniels. The devaluing of the oline is baked into how this team does business since Richmond Webb was on the team. When you have guys in personnel like Grier, Engroff and Hunt helping to pick the groceries for 20 plus years, this is what you get. If the next GM doesn’t completely clean house on the personnel side, you might get more of the same.

Grier's father Bobby was the associate director of pro personnel for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL) from 2000-2016. Prior to that, Bobby Grier spent several years with the New England Patriots. Bill Parcells philosophy was to never use high draft picks on offensive linemen. I remember an interview where Chris Grier shared that belief just like Parcells and his father. Please feel free to check me on this. I just remember Grier quoting that same belief.
@richardolney2546

Slightly incorrect Grier drafted Austin Jackson & Tunsil in the 1st rd & Patrick Paul was 2nd rd. He was promoted to the director of college scouting in 2007 and was part of the team that drafted Jake Long & Mike Pouncey in the 1st rd. Like the Hall of Fame GM Bill Polian said he would never use a high draft pick on a Guard, he said you can find anybody to plug and play that position. This is why are guards suck. The tackles are not bad on this team but they can't stay healthy. Anytime this team looks good like early last season is because the Oline was healthy. This last game vs the Texans they were down Austin Jackson, Lamm & Armstead who has a PFF grade of 91.2(2nd best in the NFL). The past two season Grier has found excellent Centers in FA, Connor Williams was the top Center according to PFF before he got hurt, Brewer is ranked 7th this year. This is the main problem with Grier is he hits on players but they can't stay healthy, inconsistent and are not coached well.

I've been a Grier fan for years, BUT we need a new perspective that hopefully involves building a dominant line on both sides of the ball! When your line is a strength then it's hard to stink on offense, and that's as simple as it gets. We're the team with icing and no cake! Grier is more miss than hit at the O line! We need a guy like Gutekunst in Green Bay!

I did a mock draft and I went with; Malaki Stars S Ga, Donovan Jackson IOL OSU, Jackson Dart QB Miss., Barrett Carter Clem, Denzle Burke DB OSU, Blake Miller OT Clem, Dani Dennis-Sutton Edge Penn St., Cameron Skattebo RB Az St., Que Robinson Edge Alabama, Jaylin Noel WR Iowa St.

Everybody is over Tyreek including Tyreek. He wants to go back to KC with Mahomes and win rings. Chris Grier the only dummy in the NFL who would spend $60 million per season on two small WRs instead of beefing up his Oline. KC wanted to keep Kelce over Tyreek and now we see why. Jonnu comes in and becomes the best weapon on offense, only problem is they don't throw it to him because they are paying two WRs $30 mil each!

Ross could well be a downside for joining the Dolphins. There have been coaching/leadership character/toxicity issues for at least a decade. The common denominator there is Ross himself. Maybe it's not necessarily from him, maybe he's too much of an absentee owner handing over the reins and not setting a standard. Maybe he doesn't have good standards. But there could well be an ownership issue. But of course, it may be impossible to know. If I were in the nfl and looking at an opening, I'd be considering that carefully.
@gelandres

Prioritizing doesn't mean ignoring the position. Tackles are a priority because the combo skills are harder to find. You still need NFL starters at G. It's just the position doesn't ask as much as it does T, which should make it easier to find I think. Same with a TE that can both block and catch. You don't need a star because the WRs do most of the work, just a guy that can do both. And same with LBs. And yet, Grier can't seem to find these guys. I wouldn't be surprised though if Ross waits another year, to give the new GM a cleaner plate. I was surprised you didn't mention the fans popular choice of Louis Riddick 😆

Kyle, absolutely, GM should be held responsible for the poor talent decisions, even if the McD wanted them. That is what he is paid for, any moron can just ask a head coach what do you want,ok, I will get it and take no responsibility, that is HS.

Cash strapped, 60 % of the cap tied up into 8 players that are old and not pulling their weight. Tua is good but will never carry a yeam on his back. Both lines need revamped. Resign always injured phillips? So much. Grier has failed. And going to be tough for next GM

Even if Ross does get rid of Grier (which he wont) , he would just promote someone who was under Grier. This organization became a joke as soon as Ross became owner!! No big name coach or GM will take this job because of Ross!!!

Send CGrier, McMuffin, and Tia packing along with all the other egos, has beens, and big contracts. Bring in a proven winner hard ass stud mf’er like Mike Vrabel and turn over both coach and personnel to him. Time to get us back on the rebuild that flo started before he got derailed by mouth breather Chris Grier and mids poster boy Tua.

It all starts with rebuilding our offensive line and run game. We are getting beat in the trenches. Short yardage run game is atrocious. 3rd and 1, 4th and 1, Tua has to throw to try and convert. Pathetic.

It would be attractive if you want an owner who is so Insecure that you need to treat him like the king of England in 1526 A D. If you don't say hello to him in the hallways, he''ll go.inti his suite at the stadium and cry like a little baby and call Garfinkel to go fire him. Then he'll have all his newspaper guys print stories about how the GM has a problem with people.

Fire Mike. Fire chris. Keep waddle, achane and Tua. All rest trade, sell or drop. Mike had 3 years to find a way to beat the Bills. He failed Chris been here since 2016 and have nothing to show for it. Trade chubb and Phillips, too many injuries

Simply No. Going into a situation of keeping tua means the team won't win big. Unless Ross commits to replacing tua, any quality or hot name will avoid mia. The salary cap isn't good either. This restructuring to get cap space just kicks the can down the road and keeps overpaid, underperforming players on the field that have shown they collectively can't win a playoff game. Gotta blow it up and start with young players and scape the old and tua.

Can't blow it up. Nobody wants those players tied to the contracts they have. Can't just cut them either

This is not an attractive location. This organization has made mistake after mistake. They hire the wrong ppl consistently. Steven Ross gave McDaniel an extension. Chris Grier failed to deliver a good Oline. I can go on with all the crazy roster decisions. last four coaches, Joe Philbin, Adam Gase, Brian Flores, and McDaniel. I think Grier selected McDaniel and Flores. I like Grier, but he needs to go. I like Mike, but he needs to hire an actual OC to call plays. Fans pay the ultimate price. I've been watching since Jimmy Johnson was head coach. This team keeps having epic meltdowns. Every season fans are let down. It is so hard being a Dolphin's fan. Chris Grier and Mike need to both be fired. This GM spot can be good if Ross actually hires someone that can get the job done. We need a new coach as well. I think Miami needs to clean house on the roster. Lot of overpaid players. I would keep Tua because I don't think he is the issue. Actually, try to build around Tua. This team is soft. I wish we were built like the Bills. Miami is a laughingstock of the NFL. Grier better hang on to those receipts because a lot of players who got paid didn't show up this year.

Ross should have gotten rid of Grier long ago, we had a better head coach and Grier let him go, Ross has devastated this once proud franchise, this mess has been going on for at least 10 years.
