Personal tip from a fellow diesel wrench that works on crusty Ontario transit buses all day, spray a bunch of Krown penetrating oil in to your anti-seize and mix it up for a thinner mix that creeps in nicely. Works amazing for bolts or between surfaces you need to come apart again (like wheel hub centers). An older co-worker showed me a couple years ago and I've been doing it ever since.

Nice project, when I went thru the suspension on 2002 GMC 2500 I made some rubber inserts to go between the leaf springs. The factory plastic inserts were noisy when hitting bumps, made it much smoother and quieter. I made them from rubber mat material from a farm supply, cut them just over width of spring and with ears with holes to secure outer end with a heavy duty zip tie.

Always enjoy your vidjas Rich. Rust remediation/ prevention is so important for us folks who turn wrenches and live in the rust belt. The domestic stuff especially the more modern vehicles really seem to fall short in this area. I love the European stuff because their undercoating is superior in my experience and they tend to last awhile. I have had great results with both Por-15 and Tremclad. The Por-15 is definitely not cheap, but it actually loves to be painted on 'seasoned' metal, where a lot of other finishes wouldn't. It shines in this area since it takes minimal prep work to be applied and be effective. The Tremclad is definitely much cheaper and you also don't run the risk of the rest of the can going bad/ hardening up like you do with the Por-15. Pouring it from the can into a disposable container and making sure none of it gets stuck in the groove where the lid goes on is important. I've seen large batches of it go bad/ permanently harden up if you aren't careful taking what you need from the can. The best part about it is a little goes a long way relatively speaking so you do get your money's worth. Thanks for sharing as always Rich, and nice work!😉👍

This truck is the whole reason why I subscribed and started following you. The Cummins swap into it years ago was one of my dreams to do to my 01 2500 hd. Currently has the 8.1,with the Allison. But I have a 12 valve needing a home but nv4500 around northern men are scarce. Keep up the awesome vidjas rich

My fall (turned into spring too) project is prepping and painting the frame on my Tundra. POR-15 on the rust, coat everything with semi-gloss black Tremclad, couple coats of Cosmoline on top of it for seasoning combined with the annual Krown spray. The MTO really likes the salt around here.

I hear you about too many projects! My workspace is overcrowded with parts for projects. I don't even like Chevy's, but this is going to be a nice truck! Fun video Rich! 👍😁

Man you are really giving me assurance that rebuilding/ restoring my A6 Avant 3.0TDI is the right thing to do. Instead of buying some of the new shit with this ridiculous emissions garbage. It has done almost 340k, always maintained and never let me down. But the small thing start adding up to the point where my OCD won't let me drive it anymore.

Rich, you obviously do what you love and you make quality content, we appreciate that. I hope you're not burning your candle at both ends. Take some time for yourself sometime.

im just over the boarder from you guys in minnesota. and what got me was when you were putting the parking breaks back on the truck. every truck ive ever owned ive never used the thing, and usually the dang things leave me stranded some where unless i gut them out

I like the Silverado build….. when you did the fresh in up videos before with swapping out the interior, I was loving it……. Not bc I love my chevy’s but because it is your daily and we all know what the truck has done for you which is why you’ve kept it for so long. It’s a damn good truck…. It’s light, and cheap, and looks awesome with a power plant that last years and miles with a man pedal…….. great stuff brother. Needs more of these vids but we all know you’re a busy man!!!!!
