Being agreeable is a generational issue that we all suffer. All of us can relate to being agreeable to societal norms and expectations. Becoming agreeable just to please others has become even more of a toxic cultural trend during pandemic times. Nighat Akbar Shah shares how her courage to become disagreeable saved her life. Nighat Akbar Shah is an impact investor, entrepreneur, producer, and philanthropist from Chitral, Pakistan. She is the Co-founder and Vice President of Shah Holdings Group, a real estate development and management company, where she serves as the head of finance. Her mission includes creating, administering, and supporting business ownership opportunities on a merit basis and commissioning sustainable, earth-friendly design and construction. Recently, she produced a short film on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Ms. Shah holds a Master degree in Business Administration in Finance from The University of Memphis. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Great Speech, well articulated. With natural talent, confidence and a little doze of encouragement one can reach his/her destiny. It not always necessary to become disaggrable but one should learn to say NO when it is necessary for self fulfillment.

If you are male is being disagreeable considered toxic masculinity? I'm on an all female team and feel like I'm being taken advantage of regularly and more frequently. Any way to combat this in the current climate without being deemed toxic?
