Being lazy has saved me a bunch of money. I’m too lazy to go out to buy a Starbucks. I’m too lazy to go to the grocery store so just dig through my refrigerator. I’m too lazy to get online to order clothes that are on sale. I’m too lazy to look up lawn services to hire someone to mow my grass. Easier to just do it. I don’t buy more stuff because I’m too lazy to clean or dust it or move it around.

It is really handy that the same dumbass inside us that wants us to eat unhealthy food is also a lazy fuck. Just not taking any cash with me was a big part of my strategy to kick my habit of going to fast food places on my way home from work. Because those places do not take debit cards, only cash - and taking five minutes to deposit (edit: I meant withdraw) cash is just too much work, apparently. Similar story with just not having any unhealthy snacks at home (to be honest: for 95% of the year at least). There is a petrol station 2 minutes away with all the poison I could crave - but nope, I rarely even consider to bother with that. Craving for any of this crap is very rare now. Eventually, even partly willfully backwards Germany is going to join the 21st century and places are going to have to accept non-cash payments, so this is not a sustainably strategy. I have tested taking cash with me again two times and it was not hard for me to just say "no" this time.

I still like beer, but only rarely buy a good quality pint when I go out & be sociable. Staying in every evening also has a cost that can't be measured in money. On a brighter side; for 45 years I've made my own home-made wine. From fruit trees & my grape vine I've planted & grown in my back garden, to foraged fruit. When I first started out, I tried the concentrate kits (only when at a reduced price - lol). Really though, a 75cl bottle of my home-made wine only costs me 35 pence on average. I like hobbies that save me money. 'Friends' find excuses to pop round so they can enjoy a tipple or two; it's a small price to pep-up my social interactions a tad. So I make about 8x gallons per annum - slurp.

And you know what the saddest part is, people are to lazy to look at their bank statements and see what their money is getting spent on. I think this is a big problem with online banking and paperless statement, people take that for granted and never go online to check their stuff. Checking my statements is a weekly habit for me, as is paying off my credit cards and seeing how much I have for next week.

I don’t think it’s so much of laziness that people don’t check their bank and credit card statements. I think it’s denial of not having extra money in there for spending. And they don’t want to be reminded just exactly how much they’re in debt the reason why they won’t check it. Oh. I don't make most of these mistakes, at least not significantly so, but I'm still financially screwed. Yes, you touched upon the value of time, but I think my _biggest_ problem has been a lack of taking active steps forward. I mean I do switch my electric service regularly to save money. But the fact is, no matter how much you save by not eating out or by taking public transit and by avoiding subscription services and even finding the cheapest deals, if you don't take active steps to GROW your income, not just save, you'll passively lose money because money loses value over time. Aaaand you'll be miserable too because you weren't even spending it! Honestly, I think I've taken the "saving" mindset too far at times. Opting to waste two hours in transit instead of paying for a 30 minute Uber can be a level of frugality that can _hurt_ . And trying to save money by not seeing a doctor (physical or mental) can hurt your health. And yeeeeah sometimes you can rationalize your laziness (or fear... etc) as frugality, and that's no good because it may be expensive in the long run.

If you don't want to change a service, often just bringing the details of a better offer from a competitor is enough to make them match the better offer, ask for customer retention department.

My therapist said calling myself “lazy” was self harm.
@laundrygoddess4Күн бұрын
Some people are lazy. And sometimes it's poor executive functioning. Other times it's a sense of entitlement. If you can't help it... Then it is self harm. If you're just not bothering to do stuff then your therapist isn't doing right by you

As someone who spent a big chunk of their life being in functional freeze, I can say that Nicole is 100% right. There is a difference between inability to work or function productively and laziness. And paying online services if you don't have to is laziness. If one can watch KZbin videos, they can do themselves a service and unsubscribe from the service they don't use but still pay... It's doable thing even for those of us who struggle...

I think there it’s about nuance. I am not lazy and I have lazy behaviors that don’t serve current or future me.

Get a new therapist

This comment is **easily** the most pathetic shit I have ever heard in my entire life. Stop wasting your time and money on your therapist. Another thing about that is - if I'm hearing about it then therapy isn't helping. You'd be quiet and keeping to yourself because you wouldn't have any issues to work out if it was helpful, but that's also exactly why you shouldn't have a therapist; you're supposed to be figuring things out yourself. But side note... I realized how to **not** waste $20+ at starf*cks every day - just grab a can of their cold brew mix from the gas station instead. Problem solved. Way cheaper. Thanks, brain, you're always there for me. Who needs family or friends, or any sort of support, am I right. F*ck 'em. That's what I always say in my mind as I'm drinking my coffee at 4 a.m., (responsibly) speeding on the freeway to my boring and completely unimportant job, listening to "Welcome Reality VIP" by 'Nero' at full volume with my earbuds. ...last part is real, too oddly specific to make up and the bit about "responsibly speeding" is that I only drive 80 m.p.h. in the 75 m.p.h. zone, I'm not going 100+ m.p.h. - or **am** I? (I may be)

Transferring a balance from one credit card to another is not free. Promotional APR,s are for future purchases for a determined amount of time set by the issuing CC company. Balance transfers will cost a percentage of the total amount transferred. Be sure to read the fine print of your CC agreement before making any balance transfers.

I spend about $200 a month in subscription services in the form of Internet, phone, insurance. Hell my rent is a subscription too so now most of my paycheck goes to subscriptions

Get a requote from your existing insurance company. My renewal quote was $925, when I requote it dropped to $615. Same company.

You should be lazy when it comes to doing actual work for minimal pay. You should not be lazy if it's merely the discomfort from trying new things or not following social norms . (assuming your goal is quality of life)

I just got the renewal notice for my homeowners insurance and it’s gone up over $100 a year, but I’m not even going to try to change because I live in California insurance companies are leaving California. People are having their insurance canceled left and right and can’t find a new company so I’m afraid to even try to leave the company I’ve been with for many years.

Go all the way. If you really want to retire and not have to listen to the likes of content creators telling you that you need millions of dollars saved to retire: Grow a garden, learn how to take care of livestock, get livestock, grow your own food to feed yourself, invest in solar and geothermal. It all carries an initial price tag yes but over the long haul it truly liberates you from retiring with nothing saved. You absolutely can retire with nothing saved IF you invested in the right lifestyle choice.

I may not be a Jew, but i sure as hell act like one: - I grow my own food using the soil in the ground - I invest in cryptocurrency in small amounts - I build my own homeware from scraps - I make my own food at home Sure, there's days when i spend stupidly, but who doesn't. Anyway, the only way i was able to do everything i said above, is by reading, learning, utilising time and intense effort. I spend next to no money (literally), and i share my house with 3 other people to save on rent. The fact that there's so many things you can do to save money, but i constantly hear people complain about the lack of money they have, is staggering. Gardening: - I use the soil from the ground, learned how to cultivate, i don't water it due to rain water being so much better for any plants than tap water. I just prune them every now n then and harvests are massive. Easily the easiest one to learn of the entire lot. Patience is the biggest difficulty i can see people dealing with when it comes to gardening, but for me, i just throw seeds in the ground after prepping the soil, and bam, i get free food that lasts me ages. Easy. I'll be seed which are usually between $1 to $6 for a few hundred seeds per packet, depending on what seeds i get. If you wana go even cheaper, simply grab the free seeds from inside your parents or friends food, like in oranges, kiwi fruit, or capsicums, or watermelons, tomatoes, etc. They grow just as fine. Crypto: Easily the most intense, in terms of learning and understanding. I can't tell you anything about it because it'd be a chapter book, but in my first 2 weeks, I earned $96 from $30, and it's still rising more and more each day now, instead of per week. Building: This one is the most physically intensive. It requires a simple understanding of maths and general knowledge. If you can stick with it, you can make just about anything. My best build is my 1.8m x 1.8m corner desk hutch, which someone asked to buy from me for $1500 due to its sheer size and ability to store things in it. All i had to buy was: - a basic saw set (under $40) - nails and/or screws, depending on the build (approx $10) - sandpaper (approx $10) - glue (approx $15) - wood scraps (free - just gotta be picky so you don't get something that's gonna crumble apart) Usually things i buy bleed over into the next project, saving me a ton of money in the long run, but for the most part, it comes down to if you have a good sense of creativity and endurance. Making food: If you don't know how to make your food last with some basic ingredients, i'm not sure what to tell you. You can turn almost anything into a substantial meal if you've got the same thing as above ... creativity.

The most i'll actually spend real money on are things like meat, milk, bread, rent, utilities, etc. Ya know, basic living expenses. But to be honest, considering how expensive all that stuff is these days, it's hard to save much of anything atm.

I saved 52% on my car insurance by calling an insurance broker. They represent multiple small insurance companies that have cheaper rates because they don't spend millions on advertising and celebrity endorsements. I'm in the US and am not sure if they have a similar system in Canada.

I have no goals in life so laziness suits me just fine. I don't want to get married or have kids or buy a house or a car or clothes or vacations or going to restaurants. I'm not addicted to any substances and live a very plain, boring pointless life. My goal is to live a lazy pointless life until I die, and contribute nothing to the world.

Nicole, I'm extremely impressed by your poise & pragmatic approach to life. You show great profundity & are always eloquent. You present each well-thought-out topic in a cogent manner. Additionally, your quips & hilarious video clips are especially comical. This is why I look forward to your Sunday videos. Writing this was time well spent.
