@@daarionaharis8319 The Indian State has in the past and currently treating Sikhs like they belong to the country. When people say 'India's partition' that actually means partition of Punjab, homeland of the Sikhs. Punjab of the Punjab is currently in Pakistan and the other half is in India. Britishers had given Sikhs the opportunity to have a separate Sikh state but the stupid Sikh leader at the time(master Tara Singh) decided to go with India because the then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had promised that after Independence, Sikhs will enjoy freedom in India but that never happened. After Independence, when Master Tara Singh realized that he had made big blunder by siding with India, he went up to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to remind him of the promises he had made to the Sikhs. Jawaharlal Nehru said ' Times have changes Master Ji'. After India's Independence, numerous states were created based on language. But when Punjab turn came, the Indian government denied because they knew a Punjabi speaking state would coincidentally result in a Sikh majority state. Anyways, Sikhs had to protest for years and many Sikh sacrificed their lives for the creation of a Punjabi-speaking state. In the 1980s the Indian government had set on a mission to defame Sikhs and label them as terrorists. In 1984, the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ordered an army attack on Sri Darbar Sahib(Golden Temple) and killed the most beloved Sikh leader, murdered hundreds of innocent pilgrims(including women and children), destroyed Akal takht building and burnt the Sikh reference Library to ashes. That attack led Sikhs to declaring a full fledge war against India. Insurgency started in Punjab and separate Sikh state was the aim of the movement. In the same year of 1984, few months after Indian Prime Minister had ordered attack on our most sacred place of worship, two Sikh bodyguards of prime minister assassinated her. Her assassination led to a nation-wide genocide of Sikhs. Thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered in nation's capital city. The government itself was involved in the genocide and police did nothing while Sikhs were being burnt alive. Till this date Sikhs have not got justice and they never will. Other than this there are a number of other examples that I can list but that will take a whole day. Sikhs sacrificed everything they had to free India from britishers, Sikh farmers led India out of a famine and in return we got....

Sadly, as I am from a different state, that stuff is not at all taught to the children. Our beloved Gandhi government has been quite good at it. They deleberately only include stuff in the syllabus that will make fellow gandhis look like the greatest heroes of all time. But my friend, those wounds will only heal with time. As for the justice, gandhi reign is getting destroyed slowly, but surely. They are getting a slow and painful death. Well, you all are wise enough how that treaty went, making a 10 year old boy sign a paper when all his family was dying and mother imprisoned. Fun Fact - Kohinoor has always had a curse on it, “it could be only wore by the God, or a woman, if not it’d bring wrath on the family of wearer” :)

Not only Germany but the neighbouring countries are also very aware about Nazis since they suffered a lot because of it. My cousin lives in Norway and being a hindu he had swastika mark on his door as a good luck sign. But someone saw it and complained and the local authorities visited him, interrogated him and his family and after that they were told they had to remove the swastika sign or else they will not be allowed to live there. And its a good thing that people are aware and ashamed and they don’t want to be seen associated with it. Britain should learn a lot from this.

When British first came to India they referred to Manusmriti as to understand how this land works. In their translation due to the complexity of Sanskrit language they misinterpreted numerous things . One of them is the caste system. Originally there was no caste system in Hinduism. People were grouped/named according to the job they did . Ex. Kshatriyas are the warriors . And no one was born in a group they earn and decide what to do. No where in the Manusmriti it is mentioned that one job is above the other. Everyone's job is important Brahman (teacher , religious) , Kshatriya (warrior), Vaishya (family man) , Shudra (farmer ,other traders and workers). The word dalit was introduced by the British. The division upper class and lower class was done by British. It was easier for them to rule when they divided people amongst themselves. And then that thing continued. After independence the leaders had the chance to correct this misinterpretation , but they didn't . It became source of Vote . They only added fuel to the fire. And it still continues. 70 years was more than enough to make things better communally. BUT NOBODY DID IT.

The difference between Liberalism and Conservativism: There seems to be a worldwide misunderstanding of basic terms which can, and does lead to difficulties. If we each understood the basic terminology, we might avert a great many fights and arguments between us. But, people don't bother to look up definitions of words for themselves and end up misusing words because others twist the meanings and teach the twisted definitions and ideas for their own benefit. The simple difference between the definitions of words like "Liberal" and "Conservative", for instance. Conservatism comes from the idea of conserving. Conservatives do not want change. They fear change. Conservatism prefers to remain mired in the past. It prefers the status quo. Liberals, on the other hand, want change. They want to know what is beyond the horizon. "What if there is more and better food and water resources beyond that hill, while we sit here starving? We should go and look for ourselves." Historically, it was the Liberals amongst the early humans in Africa who were willing to leave Africa to explore, and eventually settle in places beyond, like India. The Conservatives stayed behind. The Conservatives of the time of British rule were saying, "Nahin, beta. Aysa mat karo, kuch aur bhi kharaab ho sakta hai. (No, child. Don't do these things. Something even worse could happen)" " If we get rid of the British, someone worse could come along and take over." ("If we left, India would be run by the Goons!"). "If the British left, who would run the railroad and factories?!" "If the British left, I would lose the land, power, and allowance the British give me." Conservatism is fear based. "What if there is something worse than what we have now?" The Liberals of the time meanwhile, wanted a change from being ruled by the British, they wanted self-rule, freedom. It is the nature of Liberals to want change, to look for change, to go see what is beyond the horizon. It wants move into the future. "What if there is something better ahead just waiting for us to arrive?" The Freedom Fighters did not like or want the status quo. They wanted a different condition than the one they were in. They were willing to fight for a change. They did not fear the new. Now, what if people used the dozens of online dictionaries to look up the actual definitions of the terms "Patriotism" and "Nationalism"? It might give them something to think about. But then again, some fear thinking for themselves, knowing and learning beyond what they are told to believe.

Even though the descendants of the oppressors are not in any way responsible for what happened, it's important to acknowledge the wrongs because a lot of people in the present, who are descendants of the oppressed generations, still live with the consequences of past oppression. Not to mention, the world as we know it is more or less the product of oppression as it has dribbled down into this generation. This is why there is so much discussion of decolonisation and why there is still the need for movements like Black Lives Matter and Land Back.

Yet what people forget is the redt of history. Brittish goverment were oppressors for only a short time, but before that they were oppressed. Infact even during the brittish empire the people in Britain were oppressed. They lived in a deplorable state of poverty and sickness. But before that england and Europe were slaved and taken over by many countries and empires. Heck the last empire that finished was the Ottoman empire, which lasted longer than the brittish and they only finished in the 1900's . But they slaved eurpeans and sold them around including to North Africans who would beat, rape and force them the change their christian faith or death would come to them. Also the ottoman empire invaded india before the brittish and sole alot of their wealth and caused war on the Indian people, not only that were the ones who brought islam to india but force and conquer. So when you or others call the brittish the oppressors the truth is the goverment were the problem, but before that England was oppressed, infact the original people of England are all but dead, (the Celts) they were taken over and slaved and killed by the Roman Empire. My family are from both India (Im partly indian) and from Africa and europe. And the truth also is as we speak today there have been many African leaders who oppressed their own people (Mugabe for one) also slavery happened alot there and everywhere else in the world. And today as we speak Africa is struggling but not at the hand of the Europeans but by the hands of their own people and terrorism. The more we learn history and not focus on a very small chunk of it the more we learn that every country from Africa, Asia, Americas, Europe etc had slavery, war and empires. Britain was not this poweful empire for most of its existence, it was only a strong force for 400 years whilst the Ottoman Empire who were a powerful Islamic empire ruled large parts of Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East for over 600 years whose empire finished just over 100 years ago. This doesnt mean the brittish empire was good or bad, they did great things like every other empire and they did evil things like every other empire. The more we learn how connected we are the better will be. But we need to stop researching only a small percentage of our history just because it suits our political or social stance. We need to be un biased and learn it all otherwise we will repeat it again and again because the human heart is the same no matter where you are from. Definitely would encourage you to research the other empires as it is fascinating, and you will also see that the things we have today good and bad are actually from the different empires 😉

The people of those countries are now in shortage of food, shelter, education etc. What British did in 200 years, USA did worst than that in couple of years. That's why , I did this extreme comparisons (according to you). I don't hate USA & it's general people. But I hate your greedy Government. Peace.

Even after stealing $ 45 Trillion & many experiences jewels. India still stands on the top of Britain in many ways. With all due Respect, though Britishers had brought huge development in India but their wolf like mindset behind Trade & Businness was never expected. As it is said " The Bravest will always win in the End". Today is 26th January, 72th Republic day of India. Proud to be the part of this country. Its their responsibility to ensure that they of all people are not an obstruction to another Indian's progress. Its their responsibility that they don't feel jealous and look down on another Indian. Unfortunately, I have come across too many instances which is the opposite and its embarrassing to say the least.

I am partly Indian, but what I found interesting is at the start it said the British exploited muslim and hindu faith to cause division. But she forgot to mention when Islam faith came to India. It was actually due to an Empire that lasted longest than other Empires, which was the Ottoman Empire. They invaded India multiple times, took their riches and also put islam into the country by force. Not only that the Ottomans (Barbary pirates) also kidnapped Eastern Europeans and from the Balkans and made them slaves and sold them to the North Africas where these Europeans where beaten, raped, and forced to stop believing in Christianity or death would come to them, this is all before the brittish colonialism. The ottomans also took slaves from North and East Africa aswell as invading and creating war in many parts of the world and Asia. The Ottoman empire only finished just over 100 years ago. Why Im mentioning this is I get tired of people making it out that Britain was the only empire that did terrible things. So people start to think the "white person" is the problem when the truth is England itself has been invaded so many times and the original people of Britain have pretty much been wiped out , and then another group invaded and then they were wiped out on so on, and were taken over mainly by the Roman Empire. Im NOT mentioning this to say the brittish werent that bad compared to others. No, every empire did evil and every empire did good and Britain is no exception to the evil and good the leaders did (not the everyday people) , but what bothers me is that so many people especially younger generations just think that the brittish were the worst and only empire in the world. But what they need to learn is that the world has beem filled with slavery, war, conquering, theft etc africans, asians, the americas, Europe etc are all the same. The only reason we talk about it more is because it was more recent empire and we see evidence all around us of it, and yet the Ottoman was the last empire (meaning they were the last of the world empire to still try to be taking over land with war that was already taken) and yet most youth dont know who they were. Important to learn not biased history but history from all countries and empires , cause when you do you will see that we have more in common with our history than nothing . P.s just so people understand, the brittish technically finished as an empire in 80s but when many history sites talk about the ending of empires they are talking about when empires going out and conquering other lands. The ottoman were the last of an empire to physically go out and conquer a land (and failed) . Also people need to remember that one of the reasons Britain rose to power was because the land was filling up, poverty was at a all high. Not to mention the everyday non wealthy person was oppressed. So naturally a country will go ans look for more land, doesnt make it right, but its what every civilization has done. Also India has had an empire aswell, long ago in 320-185 B.C.E. which took over Northern India taking over the Ganges Plain. If countries arent enslaving , causing war and taking over each other in their own countries then they are going across the seas to take over another.

The GDP of India in 1800 was $1// billion while in 1950 it was $339 billion, ie, average $258 billion in today's prices at PPP. So, the aggregate GDP for 1950-1800=150 years was $258x150=$38,700 billion or $38.7 trillion. Since the entire GDP of the Subcontinent for the 150 years was less than the alleged $45 Trillion, it is unlikely that the British stole 45 out of 38.7 trillion USD. All the figures cited above are at the current prices and, not the then prevalent prices. Thus, both the Nominal GDP and the GDP at PPP were much less than that, both, more so the Nominal GDP. For instance, the Nominal GDP of India in 1950 was barely $21 billion, not $337 billion. Now, as regards the Aggregate GDP over the 150 years of British Rule @ $38.7 trillion, the Per Capita GDP was barely at the Subsistence Level. So, out of the $38.7 trillion, most must have gone towards the subsistence by way of food, clothes, houses, healthcare, education etc. Thus, how much was left by the populace to pay the taxes is anybody’s guess

I agree with you! Thank you also for acknowledging Germany. Yes, Germany deeply feels remorse and shame in what the Nazis did in the Third Reich to the Jews. We also talk about it in school and also in Germany we actually have a place in a city, where the old signs are displayed that the Nazis put on shops, benches and on the street, where they wrote things like „No jews allowed“ or jews only allowed till a certain time. And there also names of some of the jewish people who lived there displayed to pay respect and remind us to always know what happened but learn from it. I love that about Germany. That we are so remorseful and open in learning about it and repent for what happened. I also love how it is illegal to wear Swastikas or a Nazi uniform or do the Hitler greeting with the arm. You can‘t even say „Heil Hitler“ or name your child Adolf or Hitler. I remember in school every year on the day that the Holocaust ended and in honor of the millions of jews that were killed, we had a minute of silence in honor and respect. On that day we always talked about the Holocaust and we would always pay respect. I‘m glad we do that, it‘s great to say „Our generation is not responsible, but we acknowledge our dark past and learn from it.“ I rememberer in one class my teacher wrote on the board „We remember“. Every country who has done that, like the British in India etc. should do the same and educate the people in respecting and honoring and learning from this. We also have a school i went to that is called „Anne Frank“ where they teach anti racism and to respect all cultures and religions. Yes, there are still rascist and Nazi people in Germany and all over the world, but i‘m glad that any racist act will be punished and not tolerated by our society. Any person who says anything agains jews or defends the Nazis will get a verbal beating by Germans.

India will be the next superpower as it was before, but we will never repeat the history of forgiving anyone who will think about harming us . As PrithviRaj Chauhan The great king forgave Mohomad Gaori for more than 15 times and then at last he back attacked him , but finally we are Indians , Prithvi Raj Chauhan killed him in his place without his eyes , his eyes were destroyed with hot rods 😭 but he killed gaori with the helps of his ears . We have so much great history which many Indians don't know , History always repeated we always had beed looted and then revived and than looted and then revived, We are from the land where no outsider can win from us in fight in anything but because of our owns we had suffered this , We will never repeat this mistake of trusting anyone now. From Prithvi Raj Chaihan to Indira Gandhi everyone was defeated with their own people except Maharana Pratap , Everyone you know Marathas, Mugals , Rani Laxmi bai , and we don't even know 😔but now onwards we will never going to repeat all this mistakes which we are doing from thousands of years .

Shouldn't be, look at what Indians did to the Sikhs: The Indian State has in the past and currently treating Sikhs like they belong to the country.

I don't understand why people have to react to this stuff. Its enough that people who want to watch it, watch it. But why react to stuff like this? It's just not productive. Sometimes it's better not to give in to audience demand. Instead of looking ahead and focusing on their own problems, it only gives Indians further excuses to pity themselves and hate others on how wronged they are. Well, get with it. The world isn't fair and you weren't the only ones to be wronged. You got your freedom now make something of it. No point discussing trillions that will never come back. In the end it all comes down to how gullible we are and how easy it is for outsiders to distract and rule us so it's really a discredit to us and not them. Any country would do what the British did if they could. For them it was their national interest so stop holding that against them. They were looking out for their own good and not ours.

We all understand Britain did what it did, but the fact is as a nation we continued in it's mindset because generations after independence were brought up through a Nehruvian western educated leader's ideas of Congress,l that we should remain ashamed of our heritage. We should embrace the future. The problem with this is, that if you do not have a idea of where you came from, you cannot understand the future, and cannot learn by the mistakes. India was always a peaceful nation, and is forgiving, but knowing the past has given a new sense of dynamic and pride of who we are as a culture. Yes call it nationalism, but are all countries not nationalist, why can India not be different. The current government is called Hindu fundamentalist by the liberals, why because it believes in India. If these idiots actually understood the fundamental ideals of Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma) It is about humanity, not religion. It is these liberals who always play the secular card, because they want division to get votes, and create their agenda. India is sick of this. India is a country of all faiths that is what the Prime Minister understands, but he wants an India. Full Stop.
