Buckley fights smarter than you think with his awkward style. He was making wonderboy think he would blast a takedown everyime he had wonderboy backed up to the fence, Wonderboy tried setting up a knee to catch him an he leaped in with a hook.

Another prop to give Buckley apart from not getting discouraged, he also didn’t get tired and got a late knockout at altitude in a high pace fight, his endurance is on point!

The best way to deal with a tough fighter is to wait until they turn 41 or 42, then fight them. I call it the jake paul method. If they are really good you want to wait until they are 50 or 60

Age didn't seem to affect Wonderboy style, his movement was as good as usual, so idk what would have changed if this was 10 years ago, he might lose some reflexes and athleticism but he also has more experience now

Why don't we see fighters use an elbow crash against the fighters who blitz in like Wonderboy or Whittaker? Like what Superlek did to Haggerty. In theory it sounds like a hard counter. The only thing is getting the timing down, but if you train for it in camp and you know with absolute certainty that they're going to throw all their weight at you. It just becomes a matter of getting the timing down in the match because its already muscle memory.

Darren Till dropped Whittaker with an elbow as Whittaker blitzed in. It’s very possible if you can properly time the blitz, but karate stylists like Wonderboy, Whittaker or MVP are experts at using bouncy footwork to constantly feint and disguise their blitz entries, which makes it very hard to predict and counter. Blitzing in general relies more on speed, aggression and surprise than technical defense, so if you can time it right, elbows can absolutely be used to counter blitzes. It’s just that predicting and reacting to a blitz is very difficult.
