When Doflamingo lost, the phones for Buggy’s business sky rocketed. Hundreds if not thousands of crews, nations, armies were calling him in desperation for his work. Now hearing that the Navy is coming after the warlords and in fear of losing another weapons dealer, what if all those nations or pirate crews came to save Buggy from being captured. Not only does he has the hundreds of Impel down escapees by his side but all those nations coming together to help him so that he doesn’t get captured. That kind of power would be extremely problematic to the Navy. This might be how he became an emperor.

I think Buggy's greatest strength is his incredible luck. Whenever he loses a fight, gets captured, or is surrounded by powerful enemies, it somehow ends up working in Buggy's favor. Luffy beating him in Orange Town and escaping Logue Town was the push he needed to return to the Grand Line. When he was thrown in Impel Down, he used the Chop-Chop fruit to escape his cell, he called truce with Luffy, and used his charisma to gather an army of followers. At Marineford, he not only survived the battle, but used the visual transponder snail to get the world's attention. Buggy became world famous overnight, and the Navy learned of his connection to the Roger Pirates. Fearing his potential, the Navy made him a Warlord, and he used his new position to build and expand his mercenary empire. Doflamingo's defeat removed a large chunk of the competition, making Buggy the new kingpin. He probably gained so much power across the New World, that his new- found allies probably came to his aid, stopping the Navy in its tracks. Making the Navy consider him an emperor. Power doesn't always come from an awakened devil fruit or Conqueror's Haki, but from a huge number of allies and subordinates. In a way, Emperor Buggy is the opposite of Emperor Luffy. One has little strength but a massive crew, the other has a small crew with strong fighters.

I always found Buggy to be a tragic character the more you learned about him. He grew up watching Roger be just an absolute powerhouse of a man, and then saw him executed. I assume buggy was there or saw it on a snail. He watched the strongest person he knows, who helped raise him, murdered by the Marines. Shanks saw this as a chance to carry that will and buggy flinched. He ran away to the weakest of the seas with an honestly pretty strong Devil Fruit and went on to make himself feel big and strong by beating up weaklings. But slowly as hes drug back into the world, hes building himself back up. Its kind of inspiring really.

Something to keep in mind. This is probably the 'friendliest' that 3 of the emperoes have and will ever be. Shanks, Luffy and Buggy while they might not be friends. They probably lack any real hostility towards each other so I wouldn't be surprised if we see some kind of final team up between them against Blackbeard. They all also see Blackbeard as a threat with Buggy being the one who pointed it out originally as kids to Shanks that something was up.

My theory as to what happened to make Buggy an emperor is an event in true Buggy fashion- Buggy tells his crew to defend him from the marines as he escapes into a hidden storage room. Buggy's crew start crying asking how their own captain could abandon them. Meanwhile in the storage room, Buggy finds it to be too dark and lights a match to see where he is walking. As he lights the match, he accidentally lights a cannon. It takes him a couple seconds to realize he lit a cannon and starts panicking. Trying to put out the fuse as to not give away his position, he uses armament haki (accidentally) and infuses the cannon and buggy ball inside with haki. Transition to marines as they hear a loud explosion and look at where the sound came from to see a ball flying towards them. A haki infused buggy ball explodes and wipes out the marine fleet. Buggy's crew runs towards him shouting, "The captain saved us, how could we ever of doubted him?! He wasn't running away, he was running to a prime location to sink the ships all at once! He's truly a genius!". Meanwhile Buggy's just standing there covered in ash looking dumbfounded as to what just happened in the rubble of the once storage house

Buggy may now have the actual strength to back up his popularity. When he was announced as an emperor his title was ”The Bombastic Clown” which may hint that his df had an awakening. Being aboe to split other objects would allow for nuclear fission and big booms, putting the bomb in bombastic. That’s probably the reason Oda didn’t put any marine of note to capture Buggy, because they would all just have been blown up.

Ok hear me out. Lets say a couple of years from now, Shanks is either dead or no longer an emperor, and Luffy has reached Laugh Tale and become the pirate king. The world government however finds out and want to prevent the news that Luffy, another D, has claimed the title of pirate king across the world, but Morgans refuses to not publish that someone has reached Laugh Tale. The solution? Let Morgans publish the news, but change who reached laugh tale. Who would they publish though? It has to be someone believable as to not raise suspicion so the four emperors would be their best bet, but with Shanks out and Luffy and Teach both being Ds, that only leaves one possible candidate... The news go out the next day, "BUGGY THE CLOWN, NEW PIRATE KING", trough absolutely no fault of his own. I rest my case

Buggy is the one piece. He was actually found on laugh tale along with Memo Memo fruit. Roger ate it and edited memory of his crew to hide one piece (Buggy) from the world. He even edited Buggy's memory so that he doesn't know he's a One Piece. The time hasn't come because Buggy was a child and didn't awaken his clown powers. After Roger died Memo Memo was inherited by Pudding. Everything lines up.

Similar to Luffy, Buggy has an ability that goes beyond DF-powers, Haki or physical might. He is actually really good at convincing and deceiving people. Fitting for a clown, he's great at putting on a show. This is why he manages to continually fail upwards. He convinced the prisoners to follow him, and he managed to use the paramount war to promote himself. Maybe he'll manage to use the end of the warlord system to form an alliance with the other warlords.

During his time in impel down, he was both saved by Luffy and lies his way into a following of those much more powerful than himself. The Marines cement this following by mistaking his cowardness and opportunism as cunning and guile. During the war, Whitebeard spoke to Buggy, and his followers mistook Whitebeard's apprehension to tangle with them as affirmation that Buggy was the threat. His bungled attempt at his debut video got his name on the lips of the world, and his further success is based on the powers of those tricked into following a buffoon.

I rewatched the Series over this past year, and when watching the Impel Down Arc again (and this applies for the ensuing Paramount War Arc as well), it is quite showy as to how much Luck Factor Buggy has.. But it never feels unearned even though he’s naturally selfish. It’s weird to explain.. It’s like how Luffy is naturally lucky (he says so himself), buh since Buggy is for himself and not for others.. You would think he shouldn’t earn such a high luck factor. But seeing how his inactions and BS-ery,(like yelling curses at Magellen’s wall to melt it away, when it ends up being Blackbeard who swallows it to remove it) inadvertently help the fellow inmates as well as his Master Plan at the moment. But since he helps people when he doesn’t mean to, even while being selfish and sometimes genuine towards people with his feelings.. Essentially, all of the inmates keep getting into a better position time and time again; and liberated by Buggy.. When Luffy is climbing up from Level 6 with the Wrecking Crew and his D Ability can’t reach them to influence the inmates’ behavior until way later when they get outside Impel Down. I wouldn’t be surprised if Buggy does indeed have D for Destiny in his name like Luffy

I have a "theory" even if it doesn't make much sense i would love to see it happen, shanks is going to claim the one piece, he encounters blackbeard and shanks gets defeated, then luffy goes to revenge shanks, so he clashes with blackbeard, after the end of the battle the strawhats read the new bounties, and they discover that buggy in meanwhile becomes the king of the pirates

Theory. Looking at the similarities among previous Yonkos Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard, Blackbeard (Shanks excluded because we know so little), there are some criteria they all have: Quite a big pirate crew Buggy with his Buggy’s Delivery, consist of the the administration Cabaji, Alvida, Galdino, Mohji, Richie etc, but also the Impel Down Inmates, they are all dangerous criminals and believably strong, on top of former mercenaries like Hajrudin the giant. Being a threat to the World Government Buggy, other than being a pirate, also leads Buggy’s Delivery specializes in sending pirates and other powerful warriors to assist a country or group in battle if they pay for it. Territory This is what Law and Kid do not have/ never mentioned they have. All Yonkos have a “hideout” or territory or island under their protection instead of like a stereotypical pirate who stays on ship. Kaido has Wano, Big Mom has Whole Cake Island and formerly Fishman Island, Whitebeard has that small island where Nekomurashi and Marco met before the raid. Blackbeard has Fullalead/ Pirate Paradise, Luffy has Fishman Island now, Buggy has Emptee Bluffs Island.

During Marineford War the world knows more about Buggy’s law and he is an absolute menace in the eyes of regular people in the One Piece universe: Previously Pirate King Gol D. Roger’s crew; Brotherly bond with current Yonko Shanks; Went to Lodestar Island and almost Laugh Tale, almost know what One Piece is; Survived a skirmish with Mihawk, unscathed (kinda satire here); Previous Warlord; Leader of Buggy’s Delivery, a mercenary group; Filling up Doflamingo’s place in terms of business after Doffy’s defeat. 3- Buggy’s crew and parallelism compared with Straw Hat Pirates This is my favourite part, look at Buggy’s crew and you will see a lot of parallelism, so funny yet so legit in the same time. Cabaji, the OG and the chief of staff of Buggy’s Delivery, he is parallel to non other than Zoro himself. He is a swordsman (technically, he uses sword for sure). Not only swords, he also uses kicks and other surprise attacks, He also uses razor-sharp spinning tops and has a flame breath. Who else uses sword, kicks, surprise attack and flames? King the Wildfire , who fights Zoro in the raid. He also has green hair and his drip is so similar to Zoro especially the clothing on his waist and his pants (kinda joke but a point is a point). Galdino the wax man, he is parallel to Sanji His alias in Baroque Works? MR.3, 3? Three in japanese is “San” ? “San” for “Sanji” do I need to say more? His outfit post timeskip is similar with Sanji’s suits and shirts. His power is also secret OP, Wax Wax fruit , manipulate this wax into any shape he desires, change it between solid and liquid states, and control its motion in both liquid and hardened states, he is literally OG Katakuri! give him more credits! Alvida, the first antagonist of the series. She is the parallel of Yamato. Her weapon, is literally similar to Yamato’s Takeru club, just more spikey. Her Slip-slip fruit allow her to use slipperiness to reduce friction and slide at great speed, sounds like she going to be very mobile on ice, who has ice powers? Yamato. Alvida is a parallel and a counter to Yamato? Seems legit for me.

It would be hilarious if Buggy became an Emperor by uniting with all of the other warlords, almost like a mirror to Luffy being recognized as the boss of Bege, Law, Kid and all of their crews. Then all of them were too lazy or didn't care who was the leader, so he becomes leader by default and thus is named an Emperor. The only ones I could see not going into such an alliance is Mihawk and maybe Hancock, since she would most likely join Luffy.

Well I always noticed something far from him just being the clown character he has always been shown, I mean, despite the fact that he was chased and almost got killed by 3 admirals, he still didn’t give up luffy to them, and when law came up claiming that he’s a doctor and he’ll help luffy, he hesitated saying that: doctors don’t carry swords ( of course, given that law is a rival and he’ll possibly kill luffy given the chance). So yeah, buggy isn’t a gag character.

Interesting video. However, I have 2 ideas on how Buggy ended up becoming one of the newest emperors, and got it in the fairest way possible. 1. Just like how Usopp became a God, Buggy did ran away from the Marines, but when his subordinates had a moment similar to Leo & the Tontata tribe, Buggy came back out of guilt, and decided to (temporarily) overcome his cowardly ways, and be the legendary captain that his followers believe he is, even if his chances of victory would be very slim! 2. Just like how Luffy's Gum Gum Fruit was actually the Legendary Zoan of the Sun God Nika, Buggy's Chop Chop Fruit is actually a Legendary Paramicia where its real name is actually the Atom Atom Fruit. And during the fight against the marines, Buggy awakened it in the same subconscious way as Usopp's Observation Haki did! Well I don't know about you, but what do you think?

I really makes sense from Mihawk's perspective as he has no ambitions to lead a crew of his own and he just wants to chill. But he can't just chill at the moment because he is actively being hunted. Mercenary work would suit him and partnering with the biggest mercenary faction in the world would guarantee that the Marines would back off.

Shanks is already king of the pirates. If I had to wager, I'd say that the Nica Sungod fruit is "region-locked" and only ever spawns at or near lafftale. It'd make no sense for shanks to back track for 10+ years to weaker waters when he'd of known everything of relevance due to his time with Roger already. The only way for him to grow is forward. As such, Shanks reached lafftale, found out about the true history, ran into who's who, took the fruit, then continued moving forward till he ended up back in east blue where he met luffy, who reminded him so much of his Captain, shanks would have realized he didn't have to do it all on his own. The One Piece is probably a last pontiglyph that'll allow them to finally be able yo restore the world to what it was meant to be before the world government took hold. Knowing a lot of this is probably why shanks has been allowed to approach the Goresei as equals. Them allowing him as they don't know how much he knows and him using it to his advantage in a way that never lets on too much. Information so powerful, simply knowing it placed Shanks and his crew on the same level as the yonko and world government already.
