How Can DAMA's Help You To Secure Permanent Residency?

Designated Area Migration Agreements known as DAMA's are an often overlooked pathway to permanent residency. Yes, you do need to find an employer who is willing to sponsor you but there are many out there in these regions who are willing to do so.
It is really best placed for those visa holders who are onshore already holding visas that give them permission to work anywhere such as 485 and Working Holiday visas. For offshore potential applicants, it would be difficult to secure a sponsor but not impossible.
You can check out the Immigration Departments web site which has the current DAMA's listed. More are being added in the near future so keep checking;

I hope you don’t me asking a couple of questions about the 494 visa (via a DAMA): - I understand it’s possible to move employers without needing to apply for a new 494 (if moving to the same occupation, & if the employer goes through the normal approval steps), but I’m hoping to ask whether the new employer can be in a different DAMA region (as seems to be the case with moving employers on some other state/ regional sponsored visas)? - I understand the main applicant is required to begin working for the sponsoring employer within 90 days of entering Australia (if applying offshore) - but I’m just wondering whether it’s only the main applicant’s entry that would trigger this (or whether the secondary applicant's entry would trigger it too...i.e. if the secondary applicant entered before the main applicant)? Thanks in advance for any info or pointers you might be able to give.

Hi Karl, thank you for this video! The ocuputation list say that it's possible to get a PR for many jobs like Sales Representative in East Kimberley that is not on the government ocuputation list. So if understand it right, it's possible to start with a 494 or 491 visa in a DAMA area and after 3 year's applying for the 191 visa and live in a non regional area?!

I'm little lost because my husband and I we went to see an MARA Agent here in Cold Coast.. he said that North far Queensland will be the place for us because of our age and what we are looking for . We are are 40 years me and 47 years him. I'm offshore, looking to apply for 482 labour agreement stream(Tasmania). How do i know that my employer has taken age exemption with home office/concerned authority.Though they are saying 'yes', i want it to be cleared as am 44 now(due to PR age restrictions).
