We are saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. Rightly divide the word. Luke 8:4-15 tells us that some people initially receive the gospel with joy, but then it either never takes root in their lives or it is choked out by the cares or riches and pleasures of life. According to Matthew 24:13, the one who endures to the end will be saved. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation, but the Bible tells us that we need to surrender our lives completely to the Lord so that He can redeem us through the blood of Jesus. In Matthew 16:25, Jesus tells us that in order to save our lives, we must lose them for His sake. Salvation is not a contract with God sealed by a simple prayer. God cannot redeem our lives if we don't give them up to Him completely. We surrender our lives to Him through true repentance. This means we must deny ourselves and take up the cross and follow Him. This is explained to us in Matthew 16:24. We cannot offer God a part of our life or a certain prayer to be saved; we must lose our life to save it. That means giving our whole life to Him. This is true repentance. We are not perfect and we cannot earn salvation, but if we fully surrender our lives, we will be made righteous in His sight.

@@karriemosby6229 we are made righteous by what Christ done for us by believing him. Our dead works are filthy rags. We are told to rightly divide. There is nothing we can offer him for Salvation. Once saved then comes discipleship. Some people do become disciples and some don't. Some people actually follow Christ and do all the good works they can but aren't saved because they trust in themselves. Judas was a disciple but he was never saved he didn't trust in Christ he repented of his sins by telling them he betrayed innocent blood and handed the money back but he wasn't saved. Jesus also told us he would lose none. I trust my Saviour saved me. Do I sin? Yes I do every single day. Does it mean I lose my Salvation no it doesn't. The only way anyone can call Jesus Lord is if they trusted in him for Salvation. He said on that day they will say to him Lord didn't we preach in your name, do many WORKS in your name, cast out demons in your name and he will say depart from me you who WORK eniquity I never knew you. They were trusting in their many marvouls works instead of trusting in what Christ done his Sacrafice.

MacArthur doesn’t understand what you’re saying. He tries to mesh receiver eternal life with discipleship. He doesn’t see that they are two completely different things in scripture. Notice he didn’t even mention the promise of Jesus in The book of John. Very sad and very frustrating

I used to admire MacArthur and thought he was a great teacher, now I can barely stand to listen to him. It was a time so filled with fear and self-condemnation, and self-obsession to look for "proof" of my salvation, it was horrible. Now I know I'm saved because of what the Lord did, because of what He promised in His word, and I have freedom. Freedom to rest in Christ and on that assurance, the freedom to take my eyes OFF myself, and freedom from the impossible burden of Calvinism. Blessed be the Rock of my salvation; it's all Christ and none of me. That's all the assurance or "evidence" I need - Him, who can't lie and certainly can't fail. Why on earth would I put any trust in a sinner (myself), or subjective emotions/experiences? Or a "pastor" who tells me to do so instead of trusting Christ alone? No. My faith is in Christ's finished work, His promise and Him alone, period!

I felt I had possibly lost my salvation or committed the unpardonable sin because after my best friend was killed and the guilt I felt for not sharing Jesus with him, I cursed cursed God out for taking him!! Also I was a huge backslider! because they used to teach in the church,if you sin once,, it's just as bad as a hundred!!! Even after you're born again!!..and felt that way for almost 30 years! I was obsessed and tormented with trying to find out if there was still some hope for me and studied with all kinds of theologians and still didn't have any peace. This video, in less than 2 mins, a perfect illustration of what Calvinists believe/teach about assurance of salvation/eternal security i.e., that a person can know they have truly been selected/chosen by God to be saved based on their outward fruit, works, desires (which Calvinists can never specifically & explicitly define, qualify or quantify) as MacArthur and all his Calvinist friends such as R.C. Sproul, James White, Francis Chan, Todd Friel believe/teach. Instead of having the assurance of their salvation be the fact they believed the Gospel and got saved instantaneously and permanently at one singular punctiliar moment in their lives (which all the Calvinists frequently mock BTW), they instead point to THEMSELVES (their works, their fruit, their feelings, their desires etc as MacArtur does in the video below...) as "proof" they genuinely believed. So they can never honestly say they are 100% certain of their eternal salvation based SOLELY on the basis of BELIEVING The Gospel (i.e., trusting in the finished redemptive work on The Cross ALONE of Jesus Christ ALONE). Instead, if they are honest, they will tell you that their assurance comes from their own perception of how THEY are living their lives. So essentially, their faith is ultimately in THEMSELVES and not in the finished redemptive work on The Cross ALONE of Jesus Christ ALONE. And since the Calvinist is always wondering "are my works, fruit, performance, behavior, etc... characteristic of a 'true saving faith?'" they can NEVER have complete assurance of their salvation when the Bible says we can have 100% complete assurance/eternal security not based on our works but solely on the basis of our trusting in CHRIST'S finished redemptive WORK on The Cross! "I write these things unto to you Who have BELIEVED on the Name of The Son of God that you may KNOW you HAVE eternal life." (1st John 5:13) The Bible teaches that God's testimony concerning His Son is that He gives ETERNAL LIFE to all who trust in The Son (Jesus Christ) as Savior and that those who don't believe God's testimony concerning His Son are LIARS... This would include men such as John MacArthur who, by their own words, deny that salvation (eternal life) is received IMMEDIATELY and PERMANENTLY solely on the basis of trusting in the finished redemptive work on The Cross ALONE of Jesus Christ ALONE...And by the denial of this FUNDAMENTAL axiomatic BIBLICAL truth, they call God a liar...

I've found that sin in my life causes me to doubt my salvation more than anything. Broken fellowship with God and guilt for having sinned against Him always brings me to that place of doubt. It's also a foothold for the devil to attack our salvation. The benefit is that it's a great motivator to resist temptation the next time. God is good though. He is merciful and patient with His people. Salvation is sure as it's God's gift and work in our life. He won't lose one of His children and His true children will always come home to Him if they've wandered away.

After you understand that you must put your faith in Christ, some people are given doubt from the enemy, or false teachers, etc... My freewill to choose is my assurance of salvation. I grew up atheist, and didn't repent until I was in my late 30's. At that moment, I looked back and realized that God had been reaching out to me the entire time. It was my own rejection of God that kept me away, and nothing else. I was militantly anti-Christian and said horrible things about God and Jesus, and yet that offer was always there for me. As soon as I was ready to accept the offer, I could, with no other barrier to entry.

This video is helpful. Thank you. Somebody asked me recently, "How do you get saved and stay saved?" I had to think about it and then answered this way: Choose to accept Christ as your SAVIOR to "get saved" (justification), follow Him daily as your LORD to "stay saved" (sanctification). This is because of the three parts of salvation. 1. JUSTIFICATION We have been saved (past tense) from death and hell by Christ's sacrifice on the cross. 2. SANCTIFICATION We are being saved (present tense) from our sins as we daily allow Christ to live in us and mold our characters. 3. GLORIFICATION We will be saved (future tense) from these corruptible bodies, corruptible minds and hearts, and the corrupting influences is sin and Satan when Christ returns. In this sense, salvation in an established fact, an ongoing process, and a future hope. How would you explain salvation? John McArthur - "You can know you are saved because you are humble, loving, good, kind, don't boast, your quiet, meek, long suffering, very rarely sin, do good works, read your Bible, go to church. Well that's just some of the ways you can know. What's the matter? You don't possess all of those things? Don't you know your salvation is eternal?? What's wrong with you? Don't you know Christ died for your sins (as long as you have all of those traits)? And if you don't, you need to believe harder! Maybe if you try really hard to have those qualities, you might just have assurance one day. Good luck!" No John, the reason so many members of your church are writing to you that they don't have assurance is because they attend your church and have to listen to you speak. You continuously bring their attention to THEM for assurance, rather than the sufficiency of Christ. Anyone who has even the smallest ounce of the HUMILITY you mentioned, is well aware of their faults and failures, and when asked to self reflect on all those lists of qualities you mentioned, will have nothing but DOUBT when they realize THEY AREN'T PERFECT. Wow these comments are interesting to say the least. We believe in Christ and His finished work, that’s justification. Being justified, filled with the Holy Spirit, are now inclined to the things of God and His will. We do these things because we love Christ and we hear His exhortations and warnings. I know exactly what he's trying to convey - a false gospel. 2 Corinthians 13:5 has nothing to do with agonizing and doubting whether you are saved, or looking to your works and fruit for assurance of salvation. The verse is about Paul defending his apostleship. Paul was the one who led the Corinthians to the Lord, but some of them started to question whether he was a legitimate apostle [2 Corinthians 13:3]. His response to them is that they should check if they are believers (the implication being that they are!), in which case that proves the authenticity of his apostleship, i.e., the Corinthians being Christians proves the legitimacy of his ministry because he was the one who led them to the Lord!

Acts 10:45-46 going along as proof of Yehoshua HaMeshiach’s words says this when the first Gentiles received salvation, “And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues….” Christ said speaking in tongues ( also known today as prayer language) would be a sign of a true believer. After a person has repented and been baptized in The Name of Adonai Yehoshua HaMeshiach and received the Holy Ghostthye will then begin to live reading the Bible, praying, witnessing the Good News, have compassion for others, have a desire to be humble and meek, want to fellowship with other saved people (and no it doesn’t have to be in a church building for the apostles and first saints didn’t have one and Yehoshua said what house will he build Me seeing heaven is my throne and the earth is My footstool? He also said through His apostles that we are the temple of The Holy Ghost and where two or three saved people are gathered together He is in the midst of them). Once a person is saved the fruits of the Spirit will manifest in that person. No one in the Bible was saved by saying a prayer every last one was saved accept Acts 2:38. Even Paul agreed with this in Acts 19:1-6 which says, “ And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, he said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.” Any letter after the book of Acts was written to those ALREADY SAVED. Chapters and verses were put in to make it easier to find a specific passage but not to make it so the words before had nothing to do with the words after because these were after all letters. And since they were letters they should be read as such starting with verse one of chapter one. BUT if a person who is unsaved reads these letters written to the saved they can misunderstand what is being said. After a person repents and is baptized in The Name of The Lord Jesus Christ or Adonai Yehoshua HaMeshiach and receives the Holy Ghost then the Holy Ghost will lead them and guide them into what these letters mean. Matthew through Acts an unsaved person can read and will get what is necessary for them to be saved from them. Anything after these books are letters for the saved. Of course John macarthur would say Nothing about believing God's record concerning His Son (His death for our sins and the sin of the whole world and His resurrection 3 days later for our justification) because John macarthur is an antichrist and does not believe Jesus Christ died for the sin of the whole world. He has gone the way of Cain and the world hears him. He wants you to look at your "works" (Cain brought his works) and the bible tells us we are saved by grace through faith and not of works. I don't look to myself to see if I'm saved I look to what Christ Jesus has done. His blood speaks better than that of Able it speaks forgiven! You agree with God's record concerning His Son that Jesus is The Christ (the One who came to do the work and finished it) I don't look at my love for God I look to His love for me Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross. if the jesus you have did not pay for it all and does not offer salvation freely by simple faith in Him and His finished work then you have another jesus and another gospel that cannot save...

Or, you could just believe and obey the scripture which, once we have faith, says to repent, then be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sins, then happily receive the Holy Ghost (evidenced by speaking on other tongues. Then watch the fruits of holiness manifest through you in Love. Cessationism is the mother of all "cancels". It effectively rips the book of Acts right out of the Bible. Good luck with that, because that is all you have.

Scripture CLEARLY says all believers WILL NOT have the gift of tongues. There is literally one scripture that destroys the whole basis for your theology, and yet you people cling to this like gold, and instill fear into countless people who have not been able to speak in tongues, that although they believed, are not saved. 1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it. 28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? DO ALL SPEAK IN TONGUES? Do all interpret? 31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts. The clear point of the apostle here is - NO, not every believer has the same gifts - We are all different parts of the same body, and we each get different gifts and play different roles. This is CLEARLY taught in scripture, and yet Pentecostals and Charismatics continue to preach this untrue, unbiblical, and harmful doctrine. Tongues is not a sign for believers, but for UNBELIEVERS. The gift of tongues was a fulfillment of prophecy to the Jews that Pentecost had come, and salvation had come to the Gentiles. It has nothing to do with the way Charismatics teach it today.
