If you want employees to invest themselves when working for you, they have to be the priority in your business. What's interesting is the results will often still follow, because those people will be more willing to go the extra mile to deliver results

My manager used “leading as a servant with empathy” over the past 6 months he’s gone from always negative to possibly the best boss I’ve ever had to date. He shared his secret with me “leading with empathy for your employees”. Every morning he builds up the team with genuine compliments and gives everyone a chance to speak. He takes the time to speak with me 1 on 1 and has completely phased out his previously confrontational style of management. It is such an amazing transformation that it’s brought me to this video. Being that I’m constantly trying to improve myself, I will now commence to watch 1000 videos on this subject and listen to audio books on my commute. My biggest hurdle is perception and reactive emotions to what I perceive. I’ve combed the internet to solve my issue. Stoicism was my last 1000 video, 30 book period of my life. This will now fill my time. Thank you!

Absolutely correct. Leaders are not emerging in the industry by skill but are placed by preference and favoritism. My workplace is a perfect example of 18th century working culture where big corporation is functioning like a family business.

so true, i have been a team member of some bad leadership. Not one time did i fault the leaders, i became more empathic as i seen them struggle in this area and was able to provide a listen ear and silent and soft wisdom.

Hey Simon & team - TY for sharing these videos on various topics. The insightful tips/hints regarding certain topics are EXTREMELY important so plz keep bringing this high content. Empathy, compassion & respect are the top 3 characteristics that I look for in potential candidates to bring into our companies. For me, its all about the employees and how they are trained & coached. I see the lack of training & coaching everyday in many companies,;grocery stores, restaurants, some hotels, etc in the form of lack of communication and how to treat the customer (or maybe the staff member is having an off day). Glad you are tackling this subject. All the Very BEST from Vancouver, Canada!!

"Where can I find one of these companies?" How can a company show people it has a healthy culture as a way to attract the best, because those who are good at their job you get to choose. How can one market this? Without that step, a large scale cultural change is impossible.

Our company just had a traumatic two rounds of retrenchments. I've never seen our staff happier, as the ones that remain are now. I don't see how the concept of survival of the fittest is old-fashioned.

@Mafia's Finest TV no, there are still plenty bad ones. But the retrenchments did not dampen the spirit.

@Mafia's Finest TV average culture. I see retrenchments as a stubbed toe. It bothers you for a while, and then you forget about it.
@RowanGontier

@Mafia's Finest TV I think that employers face changes in market conditions- and often have limited cash. If as a company owner I lost a big contract, and had staff levels for a big contract, it would make sense to resize.

My manager needs to hear what you teach but would never listen to you in general. However she would side with everyone that wants to discredit you because people complain you (Simon) weren't a manager so your expertise cannot be trusted. Had suicidal thoughts multiple times at work and and at home after being bullied or snapped at from a manager that has no problem hurting my feelings and making my life miserable. Glad I kept my psychological diagnosis a secret from management, my manager would have used it against me. I lost family members, had health issues, and everything in between in my personal life and was so depressed that I spent a year in bed when not at work or doing something essential. My manager doesn't compliment me or thank me. She would walk in front of a bus before saying anything positive about me to anyone else. And, she is nice to everyone but mistreats me and the occasional others in secret when no one else is around. No one believes she is heartless, but she truly is. I will take to the grave all the crap that she did. Nothing will ever make me forget. She doesn't have empty and can say or do horrendous things to me while having perfect peace about it. Even now that she got off my back, I am terrified about her snapping even worse than ever before She will never understand how many times she made me wish I was never born. Couldn't leave the job but at the time leaving the world didn't seem so bad. She will always get away with unkindness and heartless.
