Yesterday Nigel Farage set out Reform UK's manifesto, including proposals such as raising the income tax threshold to 20,000 pounds a year. But experts have warned the sums don't add up.
Ed Balls challenges Reform UK leader Nigel Farage about who out of someone on minimum wage, someone on average earnings or someone on £95,000 a year would benefit the most.

They are already paying 40% on anything of 50k. What % of the population are on 95k Any low paid worker applauding this is brainwashed. Any money gained from increasing tax on the perceived wealthy will be offset in increase in cost of goods and services which impacts the low paid worker. I've been at the lower end where its better to stay on benefits. I've worked my backside off, Studied, upskilled to get to the other end. Took me 20 years and I haven't reached 90k but a couple with kids earning £35k each is better off than a couple where one person earns £70k and the other is a home maker. System is broken.

Raising the tax threshold to £20,000 is the best policy to come from any party. Heavily taxing work is counterproductive.....look at how many unemployed we have at a time of high vacancies. People obviously think work doesn't pay. This policy reverses that.

Used to like Susanna years ago when I watched the telly. No longer. I'm an accountant * By net tax receipts I mean tax revenue is greater than their promise spend figures. Ceteris Paribus means all things staying the same (inflation, interest rates, Brexit deal)

Raising the tax allowance to 20,000 means nobody should require to claim income credits therefore that money is saved . People should have more disposable income and spending power so vat increases. The threshold is a living wage meaning people can be made to take jobs reducing , job seekers, housing credit etc . None of the media want to discuss these savings .
