Ff14 has 2 logs. 1 is direct damage and the other is contributed damage essentially. So if you apply a buff to someone or debuff the boss. That damage buff contributed will contribute to yours. Really good system very cool.

Sadly the situation with healers is pretty cut and dry as it is with tanks. They're often chosen only because of what raid cds or utility they bring to the raid, normally not for pure output unless one is an outlier.

Top end guilds figure out play what you love = happy team and performance, well low and mid guilds have know this for years and its why they stay together and don't burn out on classes you don't want to play. So counter productive to not let people play what they want.

Feral druids are only convoking in Moonkin form for large AoE situations where you are unlikely to get many bites out of your convoke, Owlweaving is just popping into moonkin to throw out a sunfire when certain conditions are met, also throwing in a starsurge if HotW is up. Just wanted to point that out.

Those Sins are terrifying for me to see, since I only PvP and play shadow priest, what this tells me is the Melee that are dominating PvP right now are actually underperforming in PvE, which may mean more buffs for then, further increasing the gap in PvP. Also if Shadow is top that means my spec is on the chopping block for nerfs too. God, I pray it’s not as bad as I picture it could be.

Nah , the only half OP thing about shadow priest is the combo of VT + mind games ,since you have to dispel to heal but you also take the fear from VT . Warriors are heavily represented in arena atm and they are your worst nightmare from what i know ( war main here ).

@@darkki94 WW monks are also a Spriest nightmare. Once they are on you its over. I just want Spriest to have a heal in the holy school. Juking every cast fucking sucks. We are one of the few casters that get completely locked out of casting anything from one interrupt. Desperate prayer isn't enough at all. As for the OP. I also mainly pvp on my Shadow priest. If we get hit with nerfs im going to re roll. I already feel like any melee with half a brain can keep me busy. We are only monsters in BG's because we are allowed to free cast. Plus I play a very heavy cleave spec in BG's. Let me shadow apparitions do the work. Its nice seeing 5-7 HK's roll up at once. Just when the WW monk or Warrior/DK looks at me. That fun is over.

The team over at Ask Mr Robot have known this for a while as their ST script has a random chance of needing to run out built in. It's hard to actually have a constructive conversation about their script though as the sheep parrot whoever shouts loudest in the class Discord.

Correcting what you said at 5:40 about Feral Druids. Owlweaving does not involve convoking in Moonkin form, at least not on single target. You still convoke in cat form. In single target, Owlweaving involves shifting into moonkin form when low on energy to apply Sunfire. If you have Heart of the Wild you use that and cast instant Starsurge first, then Sunfire, and if you are using the best ST legendary, you also apply Moonfire from moonkin form as well.

I have DK stopped leveling at 50. I just can’t let my Ret pally go. From what I’m see especially in guild I only see them call a DK on certain bosses. They are 6/10 mythic. So I don’t get it. I would figure they want the DK in on every boss.

I rerolled to a DH from rogue. dont regret it at all. it got me into tanking and i enjoy havok a lot better a its more direct also this is an alt friendly expansion, but i feel there is more they can do to support people with multi chrs. For example maybe soul ash should be awarded to all chrs or a global pool. Destiny 2 has a lot of problems but i like how well they support the multi chr mindset

I agree with the pool idea. Considering the ONLY thing you gain from running Torghast is legendaries and no gear or anything like that, its purely currency based for one reward. Id like to be able to casually run it on a class i enjoy doing torghast with in order to have fun and get that legendary reward, rather than doing 6 layer 8s every single week across three characters just to keep up... It takes the fun out.

The one thing to watch for is Blizzard's vision of a spec. For example, their vision of Holy Priest is that it should be the worst healer for high-end content, and patches aren't going to change that. Only, at minimum, a rework/change of several spells to not just be "heal, but more heal than usual." I can appreciate that that might be a healer-specific concern, though. They're unlikely to have a vision for a DPS class that is "Your niche is to be the worst DPS."

Preach that isn't what Owlweaving feral is. It is weaving into Boomy form when no cooldowns are up, all bleeds are >3-4 seconds and using Sunfire and/or Starsurge (depending on hotw and current energy) and shifting back.

5:40 that is not what owlweaving is. Owlweaving is a playstyle where u simply track conditions, so if your dots arent in danger of falling off, you're sub 30 energy and tigers fury is up or cd above 6 seconds you pop into owl to perform a owlweaving cycle. With draught, which I assume is represented here that cycle would be: Moonkin>starsurge>sunfire>moonfire>cat form in heart of the wild. Outside of heart of the wild it would be: Moonkin>sunfire>moonfire>cat form. Convoking as a chicken is never ever ever done on single target. With heart of the wild its worth at 6+, without its worth at 9+, everything else is a feral convoke. The only reason this is a dps increase is because of the amount of downtime feral has.

Not sure if this video was very well thought out. Preach talks about sims indicating scaling, but if you look at the ilvl184 sims on the simcraft website, it's largely the same specs in the top 10, with the only notable difference being sub outscaling outlaw. Sims don't really indicate much in the way of scaling making such a huge difference, so not sure why this point was made. Of course scaling does happen, but the ilvl184 vs 226 sims do not indicate anything significant at this point.

Preach's topic of scaling doesn't only exist in a vacuum of the low end and the high end of the tier. 226 is low ilvl compared to how the expansion will end. There are specs that the strength of their talents and/or mastery will dramatically increase as their gear gets better. For example. The more haste Fury warriors get, the more often they can use generators, which means more Enrages, which means more Mastery uptime, which means Mastery impacts more overall damage. Similar situation for Frost DKs: With lower haste and crit, autoattacks make up more of their damage, which means Mastery is less valued now than it will be later.

I would like to bring two metrics to the table: 1) ease of play / margin of error 2) resilience to disturbance 1) Some Specs really can fly, but they need to follow a rigid execution of abilites to dish out the proper DPS. E.g. tracking dots of multiple targets and letting some fall off damages your dps. Some specs are more forgiving in this regard - Something like you are 2% off the max dps and loose 10% dps in one spec and only 3% dps in the other - meaning the later has a higher margin of error. 2) Some specs have a great time on patchwork, but suck as soon as there is movement. Say MM Hunter vs. Shadowpriest. So a weekend 1 day raid parent might be looking for an ease of play and resilient spec to support their group - knowhing they bring reliable dps that is forgiving their lack of practice, where movement mechanics wont screw them up bad.

i’ve been playing Frost DK in every type of content, and surprisingly find myself doing near top dps in PvE content. going into SL all i saw was to play UH for PvE, and i’ve been really glad i’m doing just as much dps if not more, as i’ve ran M+ and raided where i was able to pull more dps than UH DKs in almost all situations.

This expanion has carried a fair amount of pain for me. I decided way back at the end of BFA that I would NOT be playing my main into Shadowlands. My main being a hunter and the reason for this decision is because he has been my main since Wrath. I figured it was time for something new. Go figure. The temptation to go back to my main just to join the meta has been huge, but I've been enjoying my "not quite meta, but almost" warlock.

In regards to Covenant abilites just add in 2 new options one aoe based and one single target to give players 3 options to choose from if their class ability is trash for xyz reasons there is viable options to choose from (all sharing a cd based on the cd of the ability used, or just selectable within the soulbind window). The 2 new abilites can just be reskined abilities that are currently "balanced" and theme them accordingly to each covenant, this way there is more choice within the choice so players are not pigeoned holed because of a bis ability they actually can choose their covenant of choice with no downfall in player power because of their use of player agency.

Havoc doesn't scale very well which was an issue for a long time but it was hidden due to borrowed power being in favor of havoc. I predicted Havoc to be pretty bad this expansion because they didn't fix the underlying issue and the covenant system doesn't bring anything to the table that applies a bandaid to the issues havoc actually has.

I think the issue with Slands so far yeah? Is that well... We are basically done with the first tier, but due to renown we are still actually discovering things, which is cool to be discovering interactions 3 months into the XP, but at the same time the meta, especially outside of WF raiding is shifting a lot. Warriors in M+ are a great example, fury is a slept on spec, and the community is JUST starting to catch on.

Why is it bad though? I've always found feral to have too much downtime waiting for energy to pool. I considered going Cat Eye Curio and Omen of Clarity just to be able to use abilities far more often. Its weird to just sit there waiting and just auto attacking. Granted most of the characters I play are builder-spender so not doing anything feels bad.

If casting a low priority ability that you get from a talent when your important stuff isn't ready to be pressed is degenerate then almost every spec in the game is mega-absolute degenerate gameplay.

There are also some legendaries that mess with logs. For example, the top mage logs for the first couple of weeks had a massive overrepresentation of fire mages with Firestorm it's such a gigantic RNG source of damage. And it's only going to trigger a few times per fight, so the RNG doesn't even out across the fight like other procs tend to. Also, in terms of having to do more chores with alts - it looks like we're all going to have to grind valor every week :/

No one will read this but just my two cents. I believe classes should naturally be known to either scale or not scale well. I want classes and specs that are great in the beginning and great as a starter class. I also want classes and specs that ramp up the more gear you get until they turn from bad to great. Hunters and Monks have typically been good start of any xpac. Warriors typically always need to hit thresholds and then become great. I like that and I like when I know x class will ramp up and y class is good without gear.

Feral Druid owl weaving has nothing to do with hotw and convoking. We are weaving in sunfire when low on energy, full bleeds ticking etc. If you take hotw you simply wave in a free starsurge during its duration. We have a wa to track it. Basically sunfire does more than our melee swing and we’re pulling energy anyway so it’s free damage over just white hitting the boss. The only time a feral would balance convoke is in m+ with like 10+ adds there abouts.

Mike, I don't know how aware of this you are but there are certain specs that if you play them the community WILL actively abuse you if you try to get in to ANY PuG content (keys being the worst), I play a Feral Druid and an Arcane Mage and when I'm not with my guild and need to resort to pugging the abuse begins, my specs are not weak in keys (Arcane is especially very powerful in keys right now) but holy hell, I have never seen it this bad before; the level of abuse I have received has brought me to tears, I love this expansion but people absolutely hate you if you don't play Balance or you don't play Fire right now and I frankly don't know what to do, I hate playing those specs so much yet I love Feral and Arcane but I can't even complete a weekly 14 right now. Excuse me while I go and sob in to my pillow because I have been scarred by my experiences this tier. I can handle abuse for not playing the highest performing spec in the eyes of the community but this expansion it has become non-stop to the point I'm close to having a breakdown.

When it comes to PvP I've gone from being a 2300 player to struggling to even break Challenger now because gladiators purposely tank their rating to sell carries because the gearing in PvP is so good right now that it leaves us people who don't buy carries out in the cold, most of my guild are not PvP'ers at all so I can't rely on them instead.

Could you also talk about utility? This is major factor for me making the game harder because the m+ meta shifts to who has more utility. This an issue for multiple expansions and shadowlands was not really a change on that for me as paladin. We got not really abilities back but just converted existing skills into other versions which are often weaker. As rets we even lost some buffs and got no replacements.

My favorite class used to be Hunter. My favorite spec was SV, until the big brains at Blizzard destroyed the spec and made it into another melee spec. Now I honestly find Hunter kinda boring, and the class feels empty with only 2 range specs and a melee spec that has less people playing it than people playing Ferals or Rets during their normal down periods where Blizz seems to forget they exist for years at a time. I will most likely go Warlock if I decide to keep playing. With Mage being always a strong choice.

AMZ is the ONLY "overpowered" part of UH DK. They have never really been on top, except perhaps on sims. But as you saw the logs really don't show any melees, because actual content is always more inconveniant for melees than it is for range. Hungering Destroyer, ranged can still attack when you run out, while melees just stand and look at it. And that's one of the only fight's they're competitive because of the small amount of movement. The sims show MM on the low end of the sims, while the real data shows that they're very high because of how they work. Because they can run around and do dmg and have a very basic rotation, which allows for them to do a LOT of boss mechanics while still topping the meters, while melee either do one or the other. I like that UH actually got something good that benefits the raid and I wish they implemented more of such things for other melee classes, because right now it sucks to be a melee (in both raid and m+)

You have a sequence sample from raidbots. If you look at it and you think you can realistically do that all the time, then the your dps is gonna be close to the sim dps ( in w/e type of content you are simming ). In sim we trust!

As an SV hunter main I can say without a doubt the issue is mismanagement of buffs. A 5% aura buff is not a good response to a single target disparity, our aoe is already very good but our single target is fucking dogshit

With the rebalancing of covenant abilities coming, as a feral, I'm really hoping convoke gets nerfed, it just isn't a good idea to have an autopilot button, could see a big swing toward necrolord if that happens, and if they don't increase renown or give more campaign, I'd be tempted to switch from venthyr, it's been fun, but another dot would be easier to manage.

I hate ww monks so much and i would love to see them at the bottom haha but don‘t worry to much mate it‘s not only about gear scaling it‘s also about conduits and legendary powers. Elemental for excample has bad scaling but amazing 2. and 3. legy that buff each other so you will see elemental later in the expansion on top if they don‘t add more powers which they probably will anyways so just play what you like and you will be fine ^^

My biggest issue with this whole thing. Is using the sim stack in any way. Thats a practice in reminder of what not to do for TCs. Sims are for gear improvements not spec comparision. Cause yes reality affects things and the best mentality is simming with keeping in mind that of limitations of certain talents with things like movement or damage windows. Movement is hard to creat and damage windows is a lot of work for one fight that won't probably be there the exact same ever again. Cause you have to create the fight then create the apls for each class for that fight to use the fight properly. The other issue with the sim stack is there are heavy regulation on the gear that you can use. Which holds some specs back and propels others forwards just in raw numbers. Using the sim stack as any kind of reference in any way is a terrible use of it. It's really not meant to be used at all and honestly I wished they kept it internally cause it causes so much confusion among those that don't know it's purpose and why they still do it and some take it at face value which is horrible.

This is my problem with the game "3 of the top 10 classes (3, 9 and 10) are melee specs. 7 of the next 10 classes are melee specs, with all 7 of them falling ONLY ahead of a SINGLE Ranged based class... The last 4 are two rogue and two hunter classes. I find it upsetting that of the 4 DPS Only classes (Warlock, Mage, Rogue, Hunter), 3 of them have only a single option above the bottom 50% of the pack. I'm not sure it takes a rocket scientist to understand that a class that can only do DPS with no option to heal or tank shouldn't be laughably behind classes with more gameplay options. This doesn't mean i'm advocating all rogue/mage/hunter/warlock specs be the #1-12 specs on the DPS charts...I'm happy to see Shadow (in particular) get some love for a change, and while Windwalker is a MASSIVE outlier (I'd love for someone to explain that one to me) they have needed some love as well."

Preach.. if you actually check the gear they have for this sims is it EXCLUSIVELY raid gear, no piece from M+ or PvP items. That's one of the main reason(among plenty others) why there is a discrepancy between what you see on SimC and what you see on WClogs

i play havoc dh, last night my guild "politely asked" to abandon it and start bringing my warrior (currently 20ilvl below my dh) because "at least he brings a buff we dont have"... we`re not even raiding mythic, we killed council heroic last week for the first time... my dh is doing 3.5-4k dps (210ilvl) on most fights, but looking at my logs i cant get past 60% for my ilvl, and i dont think that is because of people abusing pi or anything, but i just cant find the problem and then... there's my boomy, doing 3.8k at 197 ilvl...

I have the same issue. i205 DH and I cant get a good parse half the time. For a spec with little in the way of RNG elements it seems to be very swingy on whether a fight goes your way or not. We just dont stand up well on single or limited target fights.

feral owlweave is not using convoke as a boomie, i using sunfire and starsurge with HotW or Sunfire and Moonfire where you dont have energy, you almost never use convoke outside of catform, only in very niche M+

Not sure I agree with what preach says about rogue. The main reason they weren't used isn't because of their damage. In fact outlaw did loads of damage at the start and have done throughout SL. Their problem was they were comparable on damage to UH DK and UH DK just had so much more utility and it had a better execute phase.

21:25 I don't agree. Blizz balancing with a mind set of the future. Blizz can balance every character every week. Characters should be balanced by the time that they are in. So what BM will be good in 6 months when gear will be right for it. Doesn't matter. Blizz can add 10% dmg this week and next week do -10% when gear is good. That is it. Blizz can and should be MUCH MORE active with balance of character. I understand when they want to wait with balance with things like Covenants, but not classes.

FFlogs (Warcraftlogs but for FFXIV) solved the PI problem by splitting up dps in 2 catagories DPS and rDPS. rDPS is only what *you* have contrubuted. This gives the buffed player a lower dps and the player that does the buffs a higher one. Maybe WoW needs a system like that too now.
