@efeghilmffdsee5216 Жыл бұрын
@bina nocht it's not your own cells. Your own cells are not cancerous. Although cancer originates from your cells, the entire point is that it is a foreign entity introduced by an unnatural circumstance (incorrect replication leading to a failure of natural biological function)
@efeghilmffdsee5216 Жыл бұрын
@bina nocht Nope. You just know nothing about medicine. Obviously if cancer cells retained 100% of your DNA, they would not be cancerous as they would still retain the self terminating genetic sequence that all of your cells are programmed to initiate when they detect malignant growth. I understand you have no conception of medicine, though, this is a very difficult thing for unintelligent people to comprehend.

My grandpa just died today from cancer. He had colon cancer years ago and had it removed. In the last twenty years he had barely aged and was still cutting down trees and doing construction and renovations in his house at 87 years old. He dropped down and fell unconscious while out at the casino with my dad and uncle and his body wasted away and he died in two days. It was shocking to see how fast his body went. I didn’t realize cáncer did that to the body. His skin turned green and all of his muscles and fat had wasted away. He was just bone and dead skin, I felt so bad seeing him suffer. I’m glad he made his transition but I will miss him terribly.

I always wondered how exactly cancer kills. I mean, why don't cysts kill? What about those people who have 77lb tumours removed but are still okay? It can't be that the tumour is killing them by pressing on an organ, otherwise the benign tumours would kill them. This swamp gas explanation makes way more sense. I wonder if there is a way to counter the swamp gas instead of all that horrible chemo.

What he's saying is correct, but it is incomplete. It is a fact that cancer cells growing in certain organs can, indeed, disrupt the function of that organ based solely on the presence of cancer cells in that organ. This is especially true in organs that are centrally important to crucial functions and have limited space to accommodate tumor growth. The brain for example, has far less room to accommodate cancer cells that, say, the colon. Thus brain cancers will result in abnormal brain function (e.g. seizures), independent of the sorts of chemical signals/releases that he describes.

@@Leyla7292 I'm sure there is something close to a cancer cure. "cancer poisons you" Ironically, so do cancer treatments. I can't even count the number of patients I've had come in, asymptomatic with Stage IV cancer, who after a round of chemo and/or radiation were unrecognizable and clearly dying. Most didn't make it even a year.. I don't know what the answer is, but that isn't it. These patients were terminal upon diagnosis and should not have been subjected to that. We have to get better at not advising treatment, when there is such a minuscule chance of benefit but such a heavy cost to pay. Those patients could've had much better quality of life in those months.

As Dr. Pienta says cancer invades an organ and remains dormant for a period of time as pre-cancerous cells. Medical science has been able to identify these cells in certain types of cancer, including colon, myeloma and cervical. Why don't researchers cast their nets to include all or most cancers? Why is it that someone for instance is declared cancer free after 5 years of remission only to return to their oncologist shortly thereafter?

Surely this is not accurate in enclosed spaces such as the brain where it is the continuous growth of the tumor that kills the person. Pressure/hypoxia/necrosis... ??
@andreylubarsky63392 жыл бұрын
Brain is an exception. Even benign tumors in the brain are often deadly for this exact reason. In many other places this is not the case. This is definitely true that cancerous tumors often grow into the surrounding tissues and replace the normal cells via the invasive growth, however most patients with cancer die long before the vital organs are replaced with cancer cells to an extent that there would be not enough healthy cells to support the function of an affected organ.
