I wonder why are our leaders are going around the world looking for foreign investments when they have not developed what they have at home?

If you see how this fabric is valued in the West but unfortunately all these 'African' fabrics are being produced by China and India. As usual Nigeria has just sat back doing nothing

Great job on the video! This episode is definitely the best one so far. @ 35:21, you reaffirmed my faith in the Buy Nigeria project and showcased the immense potential of doing business in Nigeria. I have a suggestion to preserve and enhance the value of this heritage: integrating technology such as QR codes embedded on each handmade Adire to make them traceable. Collaboration with market unions, including influential figures like your aunt, could improve the dye section and promote ethical production practices. Archiving vintage designs and granting property rights to original designs would also be beneficial. Creating a website and social media pages for awareness and updates on the process would further engage the community. Properly executed, these initiatives could attract investors to tap into the opportunities present. Well done!

God bless you for this bro …. This is incredible, we as Africans need to imbibe the culture of seeing potential before product. And value creation before consumption, because it’s the only way that we can gain relevance on the global stage

Thank you sir. I would have love to add a voice to the challenges being faced, we need venture capitalists to take a critical look at this sector. You spoke about the Value chain, we need to make this known to some of our graduates that are looking for what to do. I heard from the son-in-law of one of the matriarchs in this market who got discovered by the Germans who came looking for the dye when they discovered that her dye was a unique one. I learnt that her portrait was placed at the reception of the corporate headquarters of BASF recording cassettes on Germany. So, how come we lost that quality dye>

The local and federal governments MUST realize how important this industry is and invest in the value chain. The government should invest in candle, ink, dye, cotton manufacturing to make sure the value chain is domesticated.

We have wicked Wealthy Men in Nigeria and Africa at Large, whose Legacy has no Perpetuity... People don't want to save indigenous Jobs and no generational Works and industries are kept with Philanthropic Investment. The Fabrics industry, Tailoring Industry, the Leather industry... This one we are still eating "pomo" in Nigeria instead of making Leather and you see our Sciences in Nigeria is a Joke. We can produce ordinary Candle in Nigeria, We can't produce Dyes, We can't produce Machineries. How do we industrial? I am a second Generation of a Tailoring Firm of 6 Decades at my 11years in the Sewing industry I am so exhausted. Sir, I don't know who will help the Garment and Textiles industry in Nigeria.
@ifeifesi8 ай бұрын
Everything you said is right. Your average Nigerian doesn't have the mind to think of such things in such a way. We have talent, we have workers but lack a government to coordinate things so that these things can be combined to produce wealth. How can a textile industry be struggling with common water supply? 😑😑

It is important that value chains are broken down to the level where participation could be broader than what it is actually. If they can be done abroad, they can be done in Nigeria. Local investment in specific areas of the economy such as this will enable the system to perpetuate. We need to get organised.od bless Nigeria.

Maybe this business could be modernized introducing robots. Though it would have a negative effect because there could be loss of certian jobs but it would attract another generation to it. Innovation and new business models ( including web technology/apps) would be used to scale up the selling process. But will the locals embrace the change???
