the reason the war on terror never ends is because we are the terror VICE.... we have literally created 80% if not more of all terrorist groups on this planet starting with the viet cong in viet nam..... theres a godamn reason we dont fucking win... its because those terrorist groups are the fucking investment.... your whole fuckin life is a lie.... do you know what blm antifa and the lgbtq movements are? controlled opposition.... terrorists in training... the government creates and fosters its own enemies so they can keep the war machine turning (pocket enemies that the government can turn on at the exact moment they need a new enemy this is exactly what the kkk was).... our money is fiat and the war machine keeps it the world reserve.... not oil..... we are now at the most dangerous point there has ever been in human history.... russia and china can lay down down or they can destroy the planet.... that is the only two options they have.... which one will they pick?

The truth is, poverty is a breeding ground for insurgency. Funding military can keep them in check but wont eradicate the problem. Economic development on the other hand will surely eradicate insurgency by giving people the opportunity to have a better life. Just look at every nation that have rebellion, it is always side by side with extreme poverty and lack of social development.

I am Nigerian and I can tell you that all of this has its root in poverty. Troops can’t change this, sadly. People need to eat, and because of our leaders’ selfishness, hidden motives and lack of responsibility, people are turning to radical elements to liberate themselves, and those who don’t, hear stories of kidnapping and widespread violence and pray its not them. The situation is worsening by the day, and there’s a palpable tension in the air that very soon, the people will say we have had enough. I pray that when that day comes, it is without bloodshed.

History is littered with cases of people saying they've had enough of the oppressive authority of rulers and then being killed or put in camps and prisons when they try to resist it, even if that resistance is done through non-violent means. It's therefore imperative for such a movement to have the ability to defend itself with force if necessary. I would recommend The Failure of Nonviolence written by Peter Gelderloos. It is available for free on The Anarchist Library online.

It actually seems like the US elites created these groups (as they did in the 80s and 2000s as geopolitical proxies) as a pretext to put boots on the ground, which would then allow them to manage the coups more effectively. They committed coups regularly on a covert basis over the last 70+ years (to ensure they had compliant puppets controlling natural resources) so it’s not surprising they’re still doing this.

I missed this type of VICE journalism and these types episodes, that 1st caught my eye in 2012 when I first started watching VICE . Which was a small channel but risking alot for finally giving light into these fights that most of the world has no clue of what's even happening . So when I watched this episode I was very interested on this war that I had no clue it was even going on. So thank you VICE to shining a light on these forgotten wars we choose to ignore especially when it deals with 3rd world counties that have no voice to show the world on what's happening. OH But Ukraine goes on into war and every news outlets care for those wars but won't even mention or show or igknowledge wars like these civil wars in 3rd world counties. So the reporters at VICE are doing what most other big news outlets should be reporting on, to shed light on these wars, to give voices to the civilians who never get heard unless outlets like VICE who reports on these wars where no other journalist dare to report there. Great journalism guys.

The combination of rising Islamic extremism (via Saudi Wahabism), poverty, large arid & sparsely populated countries and the trigger of the collapse of the Libyan state have triggered a regional security crisis. No single nation from Chad to Mali can tackle this along. Indeed without the stabilization of Libya all effort is futile. The idea that what is taking place in the Sahel is part of the "US's war on terror in Africa" is already a losing and historically un-factual notion. The Sahel is a stretch of the free Africa, where the defeated and dying empires of yore and lately regimes of today go to regroup, it had no historical borders, respected no borders even during colonialism and continue not to recognize borders to this day, they are quite frankly the remnants of a free Africa---however, of late their pastrol-herding and trading freedoms have been hijacked by regional power greedy extremists, opportunists and extortionists. This amalgam of extremists and their associated ilk in occupation of the Sahel natives, use the natives knowledge of the Sahel to deal in the arms trade often corruptly acquired or stolen from the same weak govts the US is funding, to destabilize other weak govts. It hasn't taken this corrupt and crafty despots long enough to realize that war and coups pay, they have recreated an 'African version of the US Military Complex', based in occupation of the Sahel and paid for by the West.

In east Africa ALONE 26.5 million are at risk of starvation) and intercontinental logistics of food importation is VERY expensive, eating into any profits to be made off any resource export so any foreign interests looking for a new mining location or oil rig would probably look for somewhere with less overhead (food) first.

Yes USA has made mistakes, as every country has, but better to try and fail than to not try at all. Dont be ungrateful for the support you do receive, because youll be thankful when your neighbor invades you, Russia, Iraq to Kuwait, NK SK, etc. USA is there to help far more than any bad they do; and I dont even support their military at all. This is what quality journalism is supposed to be. A military dictator didn't accept requests for comments on current state of affairs in the nation, so VICE went to the State Television Network instead to catch his attention. You impress and amaze me VICE. You are the future of the press and it is good that you have chosen the Internet as your preferred platform of distribution rather than out-dated airing TV channels. After the pandemic, the Internet is the mainstream media distribution platform. I'm a fan.
