I have nearly 100 different rulers and template sets - many of them Creative Grids. I don't have enough counter space to use ruler stands, so hang basic shape rulers on a pegboard with the largest in the back. I keep specialty rulers by shape or function (triangle, log cabin, etc). I keep instruction in page protectors in a 3-ring binder. Then to prevent duplicate purchases (again), I created a spreadsheet with each ruler / template. It includes the name, manufacturer, size, and purpose. I update when I purchase a new ruler and send it to my phone for access when shopping.

Kim I store my rulers in some similar ways. I don't have space for a peg board. Check my comment for how I store mine.

Great way to store your rulers. I don't have surface space to store the rulers in the stands. I have tried that. What I have found works for me is a legal file stand from the office supply store. It is a free standing stand that holds legal file holders. I then have bought zipper envelopes. I put the ruler(s) in the zipper envelopes with the instructions for that ruler and pop them in their file slot. This has saved me time and space. I can easily find and replace and don't have to dust! I have quilted for a long time so one other tip I have is to make a ruler list. It is stored on my phone so I don't rebuy a ruler. Or I can mark that I need to buy a replacement. When I set up my system I went through my rulers and gifted things I did not use or had multiples of. Sometimes you buy a ruler and it does not suit your needs. A new quilter or your daughter who doesn't have one is glad for the addition to their collection. I know you like tips from viewers. So I will send you a picture of my file. My rulers that I use every day or week I keep flat in my desk drawer to keep my table clear and they are put away after a session...mostly. lol and my big oversize rulers hang off my cutting table. I love your channel.

Your comment about having a list of the rulers and templates on your phone made me smile this morning. I have a list of all my rulers and templates as well as a list of fabric cafe books and Missouri star patterns. Happy stitching 🧵

I hang the rulers I use the most on the inside of a closet door in my sewing room, using command hooks. For specialty rulers, I repurposed a filing cabinet, placing each ruler in it’s own file inside accordian file pockets, along with the instructions. A friend and I have set a challenge for ourselves to make a sample block for each specialty ruler to keep with the ruler, or perhaps take a picture of the sample block to keep with the ruler and make a scrap quilt with the sample blocks.

I have a Notebook with sleeve protectors and I put all my ruler inserts in separate protectors. I also have another notebook for storing those little speciality rulers. My smaller square up rulers are in another notebook. I have those ruler holders for my larger rulers. The Cut Loose Patterns and the Karen Montgomery Single Page patterns are for the Creative Grids Rulers. As I make a quilt pattern, I gather up all my rulers I will be using and keep them in one of my empty ruler holders. I have misplaced my specialty rulers under fabric for the last time!

I have a wooden closet door near my cutting table. I’ve used 3M Command hooks to hang my rulers in easy reach. The most common ones are hung in pairs to squeeze in a few more.

I started buying and using Creative Grids rulers within the last 3 years and prefer them over others I own because of the grip factor. None of them, however, have QR codes. I had looked for more information and found no e o their website. I will check later and will enjoy seeing that they have added this feature. I hang my rulers, and they are within reach for quick access. Thanks Mary.

Love CG rulers. I tend to go to the website or look for their videos here on YT. QR codes can have issues - not due to the host but other nefarious actors that hack those things.
@joyfulandmerryquilting3 ай бұрын
@koalasez1200 - after reading your comment about QR codes being hacked I contacted the Creative Grids Company directly. They assured me that the QR codes on their rulers are safe. From what I learned, a QR Code such as those created for the Creative Grids rulers cannot be hacked. If someone wants to maliciously hack a product, they would have to create their own code and replace the code on the product with their hacked code. To check if your QR Code is working properly, scan it with your smartphone's camera or a QR Code reader app. If your QR Code is readable and working properly, the camera or app will prompt you to open the correct link or display the landing page of the website you are expecting. If the QR code on any of your Creative Grids rulers is outdated or retired, the company suggests you contact them directly and they can give you the link to one of their KZbin videos that illustrates how to use that particular ruler or they can track down the actual written instructions for the product. They are a great company and truly go the extra mile when it comes to customer safety and satisfaction. Hope that helps.

Great tips, but it seems like you might have an iPhone. I have a Samsung phone (an android phone) and it doesn’t work the same way. The way I got to the video was to go to the Google search bar, where you will see a camera to the right of the microphone within the blue bar. Tap that icon where it will then take you to Google Lens. Tap the camera icon, your screen should expand and you should see four corner marks, center the QR code within those marks and then hit search. That will take you to the video. Hope this helps others with Android phones. Should also work on older iPhones but you need to use the Google search bar. Thanks for sharing your tips and love all your rulers!❤
@joyfulandmerryquilting3 ай бұрын
Not sure why you have to do that. My husband has an Android and he just uses his camera and focuses it on the QR code the same way I do.
@evelynwald91323 ай бұрын
@@joyfulandmerryquilting I tried that several times and it didn’t work. I have a Samsung Galaxy 9 Note so possible that technology isn’t available in that model, so I knew that using Google lens would understand a QR codes and thought it would be helpful for others who were encountering the same issue I was.
@evelynwald91323 ай бұрын
PS: I decided to tried again and still didn’t get the yellow dialog box, so my only workaround is to use Google lens or download an app that will scan QR codes. Technology is both wonderful and frustrating. Thanks again.
