Honestly the dude being a veteran fits perfectly into the story. Back on your original upload I saw a comment saying that many people who actually went 'postal' were army vets who were undiagnosed with ptsd and put into low playing stressful jobs. Also I'm sure that looking at the Postal 1 dudes mental state, character and goal pretty much confirmes he's not dude Sr, they're completely different people

Its quite horrific to know that the government send young men to fight their wars for profit and ideological dogma, and as soon as they returned home, they were told theyre discharged from the military, awarded some medals and left homeless, or worse, forced to work stressful jobs with no diagnosis, no medication, no therapy. Broken minds, broken spirits, broken dreams, all of which will never be given back. God bless the USA? How about God blesses these young fools who left to fight for the USA, just to be thrown out and treated like garbage? That is, if they even return home...

Postal 1 is the only game that has made me genuinely uncomfortable while playing it, not in the horror game sense but real genuine unease, postal feels wrong, its the audio, wordage and the twisted percrptions of dude sr.'s mind that do it

Not in my case, the dissonance of odd humor and in-game graphics ruined the mood each time. The horror in between was great, I enjoyed the loading screens and the music in between. But, if you're looking for genuinely uncomfortable, odd, unsanitized games, go for stuff not made commercially. The low hanging fruit would be offensive stuff on Encyclopedia Dramatica, with people making mockery of school shootings or deaths of presidents.

I think the Postal Dude's efficiency with firearms also could be explained with that as seen in Postal 2, everyone seem to be carrying them, especially on higher difficulties

Postal series deserve more recognition. Kinda sad about Postal 4 tho, that game feels like Saint Row due to the jokes, I miss when Postal still had a little bit of edge and seriousness that even Brain Damaged had those moments.

And a common misconception with the Redux 'Co-Op' ending is that the 4 identical postal dudes are not actually there to save him. Within the Co-Op loading screen for home it says "on this day the demons have brought us together, so that we may strike out against that man". By this we can clearly see that the "man" is the original postal dude. Whilst it is left uncertain what happens once they open his cell in the cutscene it's implied that the original postal dude managed to slaughter the 4 of them as they're all shown to be seen dead around the grave in 'the end' level. Who these dudes are and the reason for their actions is left uncertain but we could possibly theorise they are possessed by the same demon as the original dude and that they're trying to punish him for his failure in the original campaign.

That's what the game studio Running with Scissors does: if a person's psychology breaks down, if he gets upset and listens to the devil, that's what happens. Running with Scissors showed the right thing. They made a game that turned it into real violence, and they told the world how similar events happened in real life. some good, some bitter and sour cruelty...

(I still apologize for my poor English). I will supplement the theory about "It's just a computer game". In Postal 2 Apocalypse Weekend, Postal Dude sometimes says something like "The creators of this game probably went madness," and in the cutscene he says something like "Hey, man, it's not my fault! Blame the one who sits at the keyboard." About Postal 1, there is a theory that the events of the game do not happen in reality. That is, the main character is in a psychiatric hospital all this time, and in his madness imagination he thinks that he is fighting against the world evil together with some creature. As for Demon, there is a theory that it is the monster that we see in the main menu on the left. Because he is depicted together with Postal Dude on many official art, achievements, collectible cards on Steam, OST art for Postal 1. RWS does not refute or confirm these theories. That is, there is no exact answer to these questions. A great reason to believe in the theories that we like best.😊

I forgot to mention another fact (not a theory). There is a video on KZbin called "POSTAL Unused sounds stuff from beta". There at 1:22 there is this unused text from the diary of Postal Dude: "10/17/97. The Demons are real and they are here. Fate has delivered me into their midst and given me the opportunity to save my species from a million years of dominition" Yes, I know that the content not included in the final version is not considered canonical. RWS didn't use it, apparently because it explains everything at the beginning of this game, because of this, the feature of this game disappears in Postal 1 - its understatement and many interpretations.

I like to think Postal 1 is basically any of those classic rampage games, except instead of "hell yeaaa rock" blazing your years, funny quirks from your protagonist and cartoony violence it's nothing, but gritty, bloody and dark horror of being a mass murderer Relatable, in a way
