How Did King Aegon ii Capture Dragonstone (Dance Of The Dragons) House Of The Dragon History & Lore

Queen Rhaenyra was now a captive of her brother Argon ii, in a surprise attack that took the Black's unawares. Aegon who had been missing since the Queen took King's Landing. King Aegon had somehow made his way to Dragonstone and hid right under the nose of the Queen for months while she heald court in the capital all the while plotting how to overthrow the garrison left behind in dragonstone . But how had he done this?
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. I remember after reading this in Fire and Blood, Sunfyre became one of my Top 3 Dragons just because of determination and he just had the worst out of all dragons in Dance.

@@janellejulianajoy the first season focuses on the development of viserys daemon rhanerya and the elder hightowers. They humanized aegon a bit in the 9th episode. War will harden his character and him a sense of maturity especially with the scars he bears and learning his sons and wife dying with his city being lost. His time in the shadows may give him time to reflect but also be cruel in the end

Poor Sunfyre probably had it the worse out all the dragons in this war. I do wonder how the war would have gone if Maraxes had survived the conquest and lived to see the Dance. She was bigger than Vhagar during the Conquest, so I'm sure Maraxes would have been the Alpha Dragon of the Dance.

Maraxes would have been a game changer in this war. Probably would have been the size of Balerion at this point. Quicksilver would have been around Vermithor and Silverwings size.

It is an interesting idea to think on. It’s my opinion that if the blacks had meraxes it would spell victory for them as it would now give them a dragon which could survive and win a battle against Vhagar. Likewise if the greens had meraxes they also would likely win as they’d have two dragons nearly double the size of the next largest.

as others have said Meraxes would have been game changing, i have a feeling that Aemon would have maybe targeted Meraxes over Vhagar. But the question of who would have ridden her before or if she already had a rider would be unknowable. Only issue i see is that we know she was younger than the black bread but by how much is not known. When the black dread got very very old during the reign of Viserys i he became slow and sluggish depending on how much younger Meraxes was i wonder if that would have a impact on her too. However i guess Vhagar is around the same age too and she was fine so who knows really. But it would have been game changing.

It'll be interesting to see how/if this is depicted in House of the Dragon. If I had to guess, they might somewhat follow the book in keeping Aegon II's presence on Dragonstone a secret until Rhaenyra arrives on Dragonstone and have it as a surprise reveal to end the episode. And then perhaps have the whole story of his survival be the following episode.

It's a tricky part to adapt, i would argue they might retroactively show it after Rhaenrya is captured in order to have it as a big surprises for viewers which you can't do if you show Aegon hiding on dragonstone before that point

I think it'd be better if they show how Aegon blended in as a commonfolk in Dragonstone. The suspense for the future cat and mouse game would be better built up.

Man Cannibal really got the sweet end of the stick. It was probably as large as Vhagar if not larger but it's wildness and unwillingness to be tamed let it slip out on this meaningless conflict for Dragons which has temporarily put them into the extinction. A Dragon with the fewest lore became the apple of my eye and I was glad it didn't died but basically dipped from Westeros.

I'm so confused why Baela tried fighting Sunfyre instead of simply fleeing. Moondancer was such a young dragon that she was still a huge underdog vs an injured Sunfyre.

In fact, Baela was at a big advantage here. Not only was Sunfyre almost as young as MoonDancer,he was shell of his former self with a broken wing, unable of flying, one eye blind,bleesing and wounds all over, but also a lot slower than the young and swift Moondancer able to outfly Cannibal(said by Baela) Sunfyre was at a significant disadvantage and still came out victorious was because Sunfyre was built differently but for all, MoonDancer had all the advantages

@@ilbb7055 Sunfyre was much more powerful than Moon Dancer. He was injured and could barely fly but still managed to kill Grey Ghost. I get that Baela is like Daemon, but it was a dumb decision to challenge Sunfyre.

Exactly what the Lannisters did to Ned Stark later. Rhaenyra was heir period, no discussion. Yes against tradition, still heir. Other lords swore fealty to her. Aegon didn't even want the throne or knew what to do with it. If the Hightowers did not act fast and fill his head. No way they could have claimed the throne.

One of the writers had the nerve to say about Aegon, that they expect us to sympathize with him after they chose to destroy him the way they did. Many aren't going to sympathize with a rapist, one of the worst things anyone could ever be. Like, were they high?
