Tbh, I hate when all these positional super-GMs suggest "ideas" that really accomplish nothing but they present them as borderline tactical finds. Naka, as much as I love him, does that a lot, I've noticed. I feel like that's what Jordan has done here. He suggested "ideas" that pretty much just put pieces on nice squares but did nothing concrete, and Magnus nicely refuted that charade.

"So, anything new today? Something I should know?" Magnus, in his sandals, arm casually draped over the back of the chair, slowly stroking his beard, leisurely exploring the (to him) somewhat interesting idea, carefully researched by his second, is positively regal. He looks like a king, more than any character on movies or shows, more than real kings we have nowadays. "Yeah, but what's your idea? I mean... So, king g6?" Royal energy.

Its a crazy world we live in as chess professionals or wannabe chess professionals! This level memorization has been observed in a "few" others, who for example, remember the exact weather, and other events in their life for ANY date, going back many years. Quite extraordinary and much of it is developed in childhood and adolescent years IF the person pushes the mind during those years.

@@emilerhard4189 i would guess that there are to many things to remember , sure they could get pretty far with a little understanding but once it gets to gm lvl i think those people would struggle since a gm can get them out of that prep and then outplay them. So they would be good but not Remarkable really. I guess around 2000 elo or so (still a lot but i would guess that that is where you start to also need a lot of understanding to get through the mid and engame)
