What a testament to Naora’s beautiful character; that she had the patience and perseverance to understand each individual bird and their needs in order to create beautiful and unique bonds with each bird! She seems to be one of those old souls full of wisdom and compassion.

That bird is is hilarious. He just keeps looking at your friend he wants to hear every word that comes out of her mouth. I guess that is true because birds are auditory. He did that with you when you were teaching about how to help your birds integrate with each other. You eat, shower and watch TV together. That bird just loved to sit and listen. He is adorable 😍

When I had my Cockatiel and visiters together I would always have him in his cage, Then ask if the person was ok with him coming out and then ask the bird if he wanted to come out, Sometimes there was funny looks but I always told them that it was part of my Spiritual tradition and explained that both parties has to be comfortable. He would often say "Hello." and from there most people would talk to him.

Thank you. This was a perfect time for this video. Your friend is an extreamly thoughtful and intuitive person. You can see her making friends with the birds in the background of many of your videos. I'm having house guests for the holidays and now I have an idea of how to introduce my birds. I want to share with you about a big change in my home. I've been working with my budgies for over a year and we've definitely bonded. I love them dearly, but have never gotten that hands on relationship that I've wanted. Sooo, I rescued a Green Cheek Conure named Milton! Well, I've been blessed with a very healthy loving bird! Interestingly, one of my Budgies has been watching and is becoming a little more physical. Kissing and stepping up on my finger when b4 I has to use a prop. He was my number 1, so I greet him as such and try to give him equal attention, but it is hard because of course, the Conure demands more supervision. Could you do a video on how to introduce birds into a house with dogs and cats? At this point I lock my dog up part of the day because he is obsessed with wanting to catch the birds. My cat is timid and hides, but she is still a cat, so I separate her too. FOR OTHER READERS:HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR BIRDS SAFE AROUND YOUR DOGS AND CATS? THANK YOU!
@tracyann11325 жыл бұрын
My dog ignores our Senegal parrot because he is jealous but the bird tries to see him sometimes. I just supervise and dont get them too close. My dog hasn't ever tried to chase a squirrel or bird outside ( only cats) Guess I'm lucky that way. Keep them separate especially if your dog wants to chase your bird.

I don't know everything because I have only had cockatiels and never had many people engage with them except my one sister, Tina! Maybe someday I will have more people interested. My sister I moved in with now is almost 80 years old and my nephew has full hands with a noisy big dog! But when Tina visits she will come into my room and I let Beenie out to walk up to her when we lay on the bed and he just enjoys this very much!!! It's so good that you and Nora teach everyone about how to understand birds!!! I would love to see what Nora does when you are gone and learn how this works. I just love Nora! She is so sweet and good with birds. It's so funny how birds remember things the next day and even much longer!!! Beenie remembers things from 17 years ago!!! He remember certain music we listened to and cheeps loudly about it!!! I hadn't played it in a while. It was Arabian Knights by Sarah Brightman! Birds are highly intelligent. Love ya for everything you do &I mean everything. Your my WARRIOR Woman for ALL CRITTERS BUT,PARROTS ARE LIKE PEOPLE (emotional needs ect.,ect....with the intellect above dogs,cats ect...just like a human child 🖒) Funny story : My first pineapple cheeked green Conure. When she was still a baby and couldn't fly.... I named her Zippy well... I thought what better way to socialize her SO.....I decided I'd go with an old friend to a local rocking bar. Zippy loved being passed around & would step up on anyone's finger 🤔 did she know EVERYONE JUST HAD TO TAKE A PIC OF HER PERCHED ON THEIR FINGER OR SHOULDER ? She was the most social PARROT I've ever had. Zippy never met a person she'd never greet or fly to you especially if she'd never met you. If she flew to you and said " Hey Baby what's up ?" She really liked you. Talk about a social butterfly THAT WAS HOW I SOCIALIZED MY FIRST BABY PARROT. Unconventional yep but,it made her so special and loved by every human she'd ever met. Lots of behavior I'd never tell people about cause she liked CENTER STAGE 😂 BIG BREASTS,BEER BELLY MMMMM....(Zipppy:I can watch everyone since I'm sitting where it's comfy unlike my Moms shoulder which BLOCKS my view of all the guests 😂). I would love a video on what to do when you’re planning to go away and how to prepare things for your birds, plus any tips for the birdie-sitters. Do you suggest leaving the bird at home so they’re comfortable and having the sitters come to them, or is boarding the bird a better option, especially if the sitter is new to birds?

Great idea! I'll look into that ❤️ If the bird can stay home, keep the bird home.

Question for Part II - I have an orange winged amazon who I can do almost anything with. He sometimes tries to regurgitate for me even. However as soon as my husband enters the room he tries to attack me. He begs ( like a baby bird) for my hubby and flares his tale and flashes his eyes. My hubby is not interested in parrots really and only does what I ask him to do for Quinn, but that is minimal. Why does my amazon do this and how can I make it so it is safe for me to handle him when my husband is in the same room. I have had this bird since he was approx 1 and I knew him for about 6 mos prior to purchasing him. This behaviour started when he hit sexual maturity approx 5-6 and has been continuing since then and he is now 16. I know that some birds seem to switch their people when they hit sexual maturity but you do not seem to have that issue so just wanted your thoughts on this.

There's a lot to unpack here, have you joined my fb group Parrot Station? So many Amazon owners there, they'll be more than happy to help!!

@@MARLENEMCCOHEN I am one of the few that doesn't do Facebook, just was looking for some ideas on the subject. I can pick him up and turn him on his back even when my husband isn't around. I asked my husband to try and pet him tonight when he was feather flaring and eye pinning and Quinn let him pat him. Then begged when he walked away, he is also like this with my Dad.

Naora-does-have respect from the birds. I think that's very cool.
