When I had my first African Grey, Gandalf, she always heard my parents asking me every single day if I was working or not. One day on my day off I was watching TV in my room while Gandalf played with a toy on my lap. She suddenly stopped playing walked right up to my face looked st me and said "Are you working?" I was so surprised and I replied "No baby it's my day off. I'm going to spend all day with you." She looked at me and said "Ooooohhh " and then went back to playing with her toy.

When I come into the room, I get a “Hi Babe” from my Quaker; he’s a closet talker. My moustache says things like “Do you trust me? I trust you” if I say yes, he says “of course you do” , but if I say no, there is a pause, and then he says “yes you do”. He says much more but some is just gobbledygook

He is precious. When I move out I want to adopt an old bird and let them live out the rest of their lives the best way they could ever imagine with me. It is crazy that you could get a 21 year old bird and still have it for 40 years or 60 years or even longer. Thank you for all of the reacueing you do. Love you ❤. What Marlene said about Rockies old owner really got to me as well, honestly. It's so bitter sweet and I'm really happy that the past owner respected and loved Rockie despite the fact that their relationship had crumbled. Hearing about people who just tries their best to understand and genuinly cares for their birds even when the bird is being 'bad' or 'angry' is something that I wish every bird owner did and I am incredibly thankful for people like Marlene who spreads these words of wisdom to all of those who listen

He knows how to say, Birdie birdie birdie, whatcha doin’, bye birdie/hi birdie, Avery(my name), and he also knows how to make kissing noise and do cat calls 😂 it is about to be our second year with him on June 20th so we are making progress! Heh Marlene. You are a natural teacher when watching your vidios is very easy to remember what you said. Its a gift not everyone has. I struggled in school because I had very poor teachers. You stay consistent and speak clearly. As far as I'm concerned you should be called " the bird whisperer " if not already have been referred to. I mentioned a few times over the years that I have followed you that I wish you did some sort of Acting, as in movies OR any form of this I know your life with your flock keeps you plenty busy, but maybe you could include your birds. Anyways all your 6 ways to teach your bird to talk was well spoken with great info and easy to follow, so thx for sharing. Always Long Time Fan, Kathleen 🥰❤.

I got myself a baby african gray but she sure took her time to start talking think it took almost a year whiel a previous one had learned after just a few months. I had noticed however that she seemed to understand a lot of what I was saying, so picking up the language didn't seem to be the problem. One day I jsut told her. "Why arn't you talking to me?!?" "I expect you to talk to me, it's the normal way of things." Her eyes grew grew huge her neck long and she stared at me in what looked like astonishment and shock. And I think she tried to say something. The next day I heard her first few real words. She has been working hard on her communication skills ever since.

I adopted my scaly-breasted lorikeet, Loki, about six months ago and I love him to bits. I don’t know where exactly he came from or what his backstory is but he obviously came from another home because he already knew several phrases before I got him. His favourite thing to say is “Poppy” and if he wants my attention he will start shouting “where’s Poppy?” until I come over to see him. My name isn’t Poppy but I think he’s associated me with that name because of his previous home, and it’s honestly the cutest thing. I want to start teaching him more phrases though so these tips will be really helpful!
