It is just not possible. At most what a 20% minority can do is be a "kingmaker" when the polls are slim. How the politics go in Malaysia is entire dependent on the majority. And I'm quite sure the Malaysian Chinese has accepted the fact many decades ago. No one is trying to take over the government, just wanting better representation from being sidelined in policies for so long. Whether we like it or not, Malaysia is a diverse country. Even the "pendatang" as the majority sees do not have any relation to wherever they came from so many generations ago, already accepting the fact that all are Malaysian and just want Malaysia to achieve its real potential of an ASEAN superpower. It's just that, some may believe in different ways of achieving it. But the end vision is shared by all visions of a prosperous Malaysia.

Singapore and Indonesia has one common thing in their unification strategy that prevented the mistake that was done by Malaysia: They didn't make the language of their majority population as their main language. Singapore choose English, while Indonesian choose Bahasa Indonesia (which is basically localized Malay). Had they decided to use the language of their majority race (Chinese/Javanese), "Unity in Diversity" would become much harder to realize.

​@@AC_336To be fair it had to do this mainly to make sure that the Malays had a country that didn't get its economy controlled by outsiders (Chinese at the time were like Bangladeshi who came to our country to work today.) Not to mention that the British made the Malays which were the native population and also the majority of the population becoming mostly farmers. Most of them were uneducated, and would mostly be taken advantage off due to their lifetime of juat being a farmer. So yeah one could argue the Malays needed this boost in their economy in order to save it's populace. If anything it's the Indian who I feel sorry with, like the Chinese can survive on their own especially with Singapore. The Indian Tamil who came here were pretty much left out through out the 1960s.

As a Malaysian with Indonesian and Singaporean Chinese, I still have relatives over there. Btw, not every Malaysian are racist. In Eastern Malaysian people was more tolerant and peaceful, we malay peninsula was control by Malay, Chinese and Indian that fight each others. While Sabah and Sarawak was mixed with multiethnic Borneo's people. For example, there is Muslims working at Chinese restaurant and majority of Eastern Malaysian was predominantly Christian especially Roman Catholic

bro ikr, I went to a govt chinese school SJK(C) growing up and there are rich parents funding the school. Our toilet was super nice with flowers, murals and books in it, and they would not let us wear our shoes to enter the toilet because they wanted us to wear designated slippers for the toilet so the floor does not get dirty. Aaaand I noticed that the kids of those rich patrons get preferential treatment from the teachers and faculty

@@s0meRand0m129 Honestly the problem lies in different pibg department of each schools,some of them are really competent at getting sponsorship meanwhile some just sit on their asses,my old school literally managed to get sponsorships from multiple big companies to renovate the entire school hall and an old building with the reason to make sure form 5 can have tuition and spm comfortably. Meanwhile my current school still got that 2000s hall with fans that can only reach people sitting on the side so people in the middle just burn up,the lights and fans in the classroom breaks once every 2 weeks and electricity and water breaks occasionally. Both school were goverment schools with majority of students being malays.

Rwanda does have a smart dictator and much like Singapore got past its history of racial tension and made great developments but the scary part is that one day Kagame going to be gone and I'm not sure if whoever is going to replace him it's going to be able to hold it together, assuming someone can optionally replace him before it falls apart anyways I have high hopes for Rwanda tho Hopefully it can be a future Financial Hub if Eastern Africa can continue developing the way it has been or if the rest of Africa can get out of the economic hell it became

But you see unlike Rwanda, Singapore doesn't try to meddle militarily in other neighbouring nations like DRC and cause violent instability at our borders. What's more we aren't landlocked and we are situated at a crucial geographical maritime position unlike Rwanda. Seriously people need to stop calling Rwanda the "Singapore of Africa" as we have nothing in common. If anything, Djibouti is closer to being the "Singapore of Africa" than Rwanda in fact.

@@spacecraftcarrier4135 to be honest the only thing Djibouti has that's similar to Singapore is that it's in a crucial position and is somewhat wealthy but not really And they got their money without becoming a power player they just kind of cucked their land to all of the major powers for easy cash I would say that Rwanda does have many similarities to Singapore that matter being that it's wealthy compared to its neighbors, gained that wealth due to a Smart dictator, and also uses its wealth to bolster economic activity and investment, Also it isn't really called the Singapore of Africa because other people call it that it's that the government itself says that they want to become the "Singapore of Africa" Other than that yeah I would say that's a massive mistake on Rwandas part, Meddling in the Affairs of Neighbors is going to have only negative effects on East Africa and their success greatly depends on the success of East Africa because they are landlocked and internal integration and cooperation with your neighbors is incredibly crucial to becoming a successful country especially when you are landlocked, I mean like it's hard to become a financial Hub of the world when all of your neighbors I struggling to be connected to that world or have enough power to be relevant in the greater world

@Don dog chinese malaysian here, as glamorous as Singapore is, Malaysia is still a decent country to live in. We can own larger houses for a cheaper price and easily have our own cars in Malaysia. Also notwithstanding the typical racial disputes you see here and there, I actually admire the easygoing nature of the Malays and tbh I find that Malays are nicer than the Chinese.

Everything is pretty accurate except LKY being good at chinese. He definitely can converse but not good enough to be fluent. Which is why most of his debates and interviews are in english. In his memoir he mentioned multiple times that his chinese was lacking as it was a pretty difficult language to learn. Funny thing was that he manage to learn the japanese language in a short span of time during the Japanese occupation and yet chinese took him so long 🤣

Thing is, *speaking* Japanese is actually not hard. It's almost entirely phonetic. *Writing* Japanese is Hell on Earth, though. Chinese languages are tonal so learning to speak them properly is a lot more involved, but they are a bit simpler to write than Japanese.

I think the video kinda missed out the part where the Brunei and Singapore balls were closer at the time lol. I'm not saying Brunei actually did anything towards Singapore's growth, it was all their own tenacity and greatness as a country. After Singapore left thr Malaya (1965), a Currency Interchangeability Agreement was made between Brunei and Singapore (and malaysia too but they left). At the time sg ball was struggling so brunei lent a hand and at the time brunei was still oil rich. We both share similarities, being tiny nation balls so we look out for each other. Now brunei aint doing too good but sg returning the favour by keeping the agreement. Therefore, strengthening the bond. Hence, why both balls still buddies buddies but low key.

One thing that should be noted is that the British did not "bring in" cheap labour from china and India. For Indian immigrants, some were convicts who chose to stay once their sentence was finished. Others genuinely immigrated because life really sucked for them at home. For the Chinese immigrants, they were immigrants. They chose to come to Singapore, either because business needed to boom or because business went bust at home. Famine, clan wars and rebellions drove many southern Chinese to head wherever was safe and had work for them to support themselves and their families at home, while others saw the Freeport status as opportunity for investment and bigger deals. They were not coerced by the British.

Your conclusions are on point. Yes, we recognise Lee Kuan Yew is a dictator, but where would Singapore be without his vision. I highly enjoyed 7:09, the Singlish made perfect sense to me but when broken down it looked like such a mess.

They thought they could do better not because they looked up to Japan and saw freedom led by Asians, but because for Singapore, the almighty british gave up their crown colony, which they had promised would be defended to the death. The japanese occupation was brutal, from executions to experimentation to torture and starvation, and that inspired disillusionment with British invincibility, and hatred of japanese hegemony. That was how nationalism in British Malaya and Singapore was born, not how simply the video put it

Well i got a theory on why Malay people hate the Chinese and Indian race, speaking as a Malay myself. You see when the British colonise Tanah Melayu/ Malaya which is what Malaysia was called before 16 of September 1963. Its was harsh when the country was colonise, first the Portuguese who colonise Malacca, the the Dutch and after that the British. Like the video said, the British came in and brought Indian and Chinese people to the country, and well its like if you were peacefully at your house and suddenly some random guy came in and ask you to do what he said or you get punishment, and he suddenly take all your stuff and ask you to pay ridiculous amount of money or he’ll beat you up, after that he forced his workers to take your stuff. Yea thats what happen when the British colonise Malaysia, i think the Malay people were scared if it happened again to them, thats why they want to be the top race so they don’t get colonise and to top it of with the communist who were mostly Chinese, who attack Malaysia even after independence, that made relations between the race’s in Malaysia even more broken. BUT HEY THATS JUST A THEORY, A RANDOM GUY WHO SPENT ALMOST AN HOUR WRITING THIS THEORY. P.S thanks to the soldier who have help Malaysia to what it is now, i personally don’t care about the Chinese or Indian because they were forced out of their country to come to Malaya. Another P.S watch Mat Kilau on Netflix. Another third P.S there will probably be some Malay guy coming in this reply section and saying some things, I don’t negative or positive reply.

I just deleted a comment about how I as a bumiputera Malaysian, I envy Singapore success. The comments are messy, hated how it's going. It divide people which far from what I wanted. I contribute it also by replying them not in a appropriate manner. I should've worded it out carefully before posting but meh.
