One of my all time favourites "so bad its good" is "Strike Commando" Although i have seen it under another name. Its got Reb Brown in it as the lead. It has some fantastically cheesy one liners and soviet stereotyping. Plus in my early teens I was lucky enough to have a VCR with frame advance...Those two frames of the dummy with a mop on its head (stand in for Christopher Connelly) before exploding caused so much mirth that underwear was usually spoilt (Pissed ourselves laughing...literally).

The ultimate 1980s bad movie classic... I watched this beauty for the first time back when I rented the VHS (released in Australia by Premiere - a subsidiary of Roadshow Entertainment) from my local video store (which was located only one block from my house), all the way back in 1992 and I enjoyed it, although I quickly forgot it by binge-renting Terminator 2. I eventually bought a VHS copy in 2005 (a day before my father died) but the tape was damaged. I then imported the Mill Creek "Sci-Fi Invasion" box set (which had a seriously truncated print which removed all the goofiest dialogue to make the film more serious), forcing me to locate another VHS copy to replace the previous one. Trouble was that copy also had damage, but in a different spot so I was able to create a composite print to put on DVD. Trying to collect a decent copy of this film for my collection was a crazy amount of trouble for me but I eventually beat this sucker to my tune... (If that last sentence sounds like a masturbation pun, it was unintentional).

ok so fun fact about this movie: it was supposed to be a comedy at one point. dont remember all the details but i do know it was meant to be a comedy which is why things like the fry cook having giant teeth are in the movie lol. i think i watched a vid about it on like bad movie bible or something? that channel sometimes goes deep into bad movies and has trivia about it. like in uhmm omg wtf is the movie with reb brown and cameron mitchell in space? space mutany? well in that movie they wanted reb but reb wouldn't do it unless his wife could be in the movie. the woman hes with in the movie who looks like a 40 year old mom? That payphone wasn't broken. They had to keep the "hang up" switch down. If you unhook a payphone and don't make a call, after a while you'll hear a recording asking to insert money or hang up, loud enough to be picked up by audio.

R.O.T.O.R. one of those six degrees of separation in my life. Funny this being part of a ROBOCOP ripoff it was filmed the Dallas, TX area I am sure roughly the same time as ROBOCOP was filmed there. I actually saw in the paper info about ROBOCOP being filmed and asking for extras which I wished I had gone for. With R.O.T.O.R. I don't recall if I heard about it being filmed at that time. But this was pre Internet times. Flash forward about a decade and I was interviewing for an artist position at a dotcom company in the SF Bay Area and who should be interviewing me but one Budd Lewis the co writer of this film, which I did not know at the time or probably about this film itself. I did know about Budd for horror comics he was a writer for that I would get in my childhood. I really thought he was a decent writer of those stories. Anyways I did not get the job but holy heck was the interview fun and interesting! I think we talked about more paranormal stuff than anything else. I do wished I had worked with him thinking about it now. Anyways he did much work in other films and much storyboard work in animation. He passed away about a decade ago and it sounds like his last few years were financially challenging sadly enough! Anyways just some useless trivia and I really enjoy your show and have seen many of the films you review! I really dig your takes on them and such. Cheers!

I think that the scientist lady with the skunk hair is kind of hot. Not much else attractive in this one. RiffTrax did this one and I believe put a free copy on KZbin: the riffing doesn’t blunt the pain enough.
