If you don't learn from your mistakes, you are not learning! I admire the integrity that BFWC has to make things what the client wants instead of just saying oops when something happens to one of your pieces of artwork and passing that to the customer. The amount will depend where you live and when you lived. If your region has wide range of temperature and humidity levels, timber will expand and contract more than steady state regions. Today's central heating and air conditioning evens out a lot of that. I'm old enough to have learned my furniture making before central heating in the UK, so we had to cater for it with how we attached table tops to frames. Got my feet on a chess board coffee table with inlays I made in extracurricular classes at school for my parents about 1970: walnut, white oak, rauli

I know you are often mentioning the lack of power in your Festool track saw - have you heard they have a new one? It may be worth checking out. It has an upgraded, more powerful motor that should help ripping through your table edges. TS 60 KEB. Time is money, so fewer passes needed to make a clean edge.....

It appears that they're using a higher tooth count blade, should be using the Panther ripping blade; everyone who tells me that the Festool is underpowered is usually using/ doing something wrong. PS, I use them almost everyday and have for the past 15 years. Outside of that, an absolutely gorgeous table 💯

Is there a reason you don't have a bit more overpour on the table, and after its been through the drum sander and palm sanding, have the epoxy as the finish over the whole table?

Because then you lose the natural feeling of the wood, and it can scratch way easier than it would if it had a spray finish or an oil finish

Well didn't get a good look at the finish. If it bubbles then I would say the wood is not completely dry. That is why some that do these river tables do not use an urethan but instead use an oil. It may look dry but the bubbles are the clue that it's not ...

Dont say that you dont cost in variables that will occur. You charge huge money for your work. (And you love to share that, even in your video titles) So to imply that you need to pay staff and they will get paid before we do sounds like rubbish. You definitely have the profit margin and also the cash flow within your business to not even hint towards the notion that a single mistake could prevent you from saying your team. You regularly say that a singe job that you do costs 20k-40k plus. (for a table or door) Secondly, with you high quality standards that you preach every video, how did you guys not find the imperfection that the customer found? That sounds more like incompetence on your behalf. With that you want push for for "super thanks" you should be ashamed of this video. Before anyone want to hate me, i have been watching and subscribed to this channel for many years and i share links to multiple people on the regular. I love your work but guys, but find some sense of honesty and dont push a false narrative for profit. Id welcome a reply to prove me wrong before i unsubscribe......
@mturner221
@mturner221 9 ай бұрын
I'll give you your reply. Do you own a business? With huge amounts of overhead? These guys arent selling a 20k piece every day or even every week. So i imagine those are the builds that are interesting and get filmed. Also imagine paying 20 guys full time when you are only selling maybe one of those high price items every 2 weeks. So if the client doesn't pay before the checks are due to the employee, the business has to use its own money to pay the employees AND THEN recoup the payroll money with the clients money after the sale. Now imagine what one payday costs the owner. If average employee makes $25/hr (very low for the amount of skill they ask of their employees) then one person cost the owner $2000 every 2 weeks of labor with NO overtime. Now with the 20 employees that is $40,000 with NO overtime that has to be shelled out by the company to pay all the guys at ONCE. That would be challenging for any business to do if they havent been paid in weeks for any other projects. Understand? Hes not begging for money saying they are poor. Hes saying that it is hard to pay that many guys on time if no sale has been made.
@BlackForestWoodCo
@BlackForestWoodCo 9 ай бұрын
We totally understand where you're coming from, we do make expensive pieces and of course there's profit on them but, I don't think it's as much as people may think it is on KZbin, totally agreeing with Marcus's comment above, owning and running a business is expensive. And we don't expect people to give us super thanks but we figured we'd finally turn the option on, because for certain things like for us to go down and install and film the deliveries like the one going to Utah soon, every penny helps because it can get pricy to fly or drive down to The States, but we want to make content our audience enjoys! But it is 100% our audience's choice if they want to give us a super thanks or not, it will not be something we'll be pushing in our future videos, besides thanking those who donated to us at the end of our videos to show appreciation for them! We get the annoyance though, but thanks for being a long time subscriber and for sharing our content
