Panic! At The Mess it is really hard to come out in a Latinos family, I am and I'm just gonna said that in general isn't talk about or they say that is just for some time... Here you can be looked weird by just holding hands...I'm Latina from Chile as one of the guys of the video

Panic! At The Mess I'm not gay or anything, but ik for a fact that it would be hard to come out and especially in a Latino family because of cultural and tradition. Personally, my parents have had this type of talk with me and my mom just dislikes gay people and my dad said he wouldn't except me for being a lesbian, but you can't really judge them because that's how they were raised and that's their opinion
@yukasieun

it depends of the country in chile its hard to come out because there's a lot of people who are male chauvinist and don't accept people who aren't straight, and they look bad at you if you're holding hands with someone the same sex as you

this is kinda true, I'm Brazilian and people can be too "traditional" here primarily bc religion is pretty strong in the country, religion and politics are together with all the "traditional brazilian family " bullshit. this is pretty awful, but we are evolving u know? maybe someday things can get better here...

When i came out as Pansexual my mom and step dad didn't care. Literally they didn't say "we love you no matter what" or anything. My mom told me she was Bi and so was my step dad and i didn't even know. They acted like it was no big deal 😂 which was a relief.

It think about it all the time and it breaks my heart but I pretend to be happy and straight. It hurts to pretend but I have to do it until I move out and I am safe. When I came out it was awful. My mom hated me for it. My dad wouldn't look at me. She said she would never accept me and that my sisters should never find out what I am. Before I came out I felt like a freak I wanted to cry every time I looked at myself. When they said that to me I hated myself even more. I'm trying to pick myself up and I guess i'm doing better even if no one cares. I want to be proud of who I am it's just when I stare at myself in the mirror I fell as if i'm not normal, but I don't want to change. Being the way I am is one thing at can't be taken away from me and I am trying to learn to love it. No matter what people say.

Chloe Price you are beautiful young strong young lady.. if you were my daughter I would love you as you.. and that is what your parents need to do but the ignorance MAKES them blind.. don't lose hope or your self. There's plenty of people out here that love you for just you. You don't need approval from anyone but yourself. And remember head up smile and what don't kill you makes you stronger.. 😉😁👍

Try writing a letter explaining how you feel about everything. I know that this might not work, and it might not work for me, but I will try and maybe, just maybe, you could too. I know I can't speak for everyone, and that you might not have the courage to do it, but there's the possibility it might work.

I don't have a happy story. I was outed by my uncle and my mom got so angry that she pretended I didn't exist for a week. When I came out as trans this year my mother yet again ignored me but rejected me. She said she wasn't going to have two sons or call me by the name I go by. She made it about herself, saying she had an ugly boys name as a kid (Her name is Christian). I thought she was ok with it since she respected the lgbtq+ community, but I guess not when it comes to her kids. I'm 18 in three years and I'll probably have to go through my transition alone even though I have my friends who I practically consider family. It's really draining, really fucking draining.

As a Latino, I can understand where they are coming from. Latino families are often very traditional about their ways and their culture, so orientation diversity to them is so weird and out of the norm. I've known I was transgender ever since I was five. It's been almost a year ago since I came out to my family as an FtM transgender. None of them are fully on board, but I don't need their comfirmation to be happy with who I am.

Janine Dorris I guess lesbians have some kind of bad reputation, so, close minded parents think that lesbians turn other girls lesbian and that seems to be a bad thing for them
@A_n16
@A_n16 8 жыл бұрын
Janine Dorris Everyone has their own story. Not everyone is fortunate to always have an accepting. The Latinxs community has a VERY old traditional view of Latinas as to be good housewives and they need to be protected. Being a lesbian would break them out of that box that they put them in. Though it's weird, it's their (the old generation's) view point and mentality. High-key sexism, but mostly "tradition."
@estebanplascencia1602
@estebanplascencia1602 8 жыл бұрын
Janine Dorris men have no fully been accepted yet. Women aren't accepted as lesbian in the Latino community because women are expected to be a certain way. It's stereotypical for women to get married to men and have babies. Not to say they can't do that when they're lesbian but latinos have that certain stigma at times. Guys aren't accepted as gay also because they're expected to be masculine and like women and be the worker. Women and Men can do the same things regardless of their sexuality but in the Latino community there is a stereotype towards not only gays and lesbians but the entire LGBTQ community.
@AM-dp9tv
@AM-dp9tv 8 жыл бұрын
Janine Dorris I find both to be difficult, my father is homophobic towards gay men, refers to them as a plethora of disease and dysfunction but has no problem with women being openly gay..oh but only if theyre attractive women that "dont look like men or try to be something they're not"..the stupidity..I was so hurt.

I’m a Proud Ass Salvadoreño!🇸🇻 I came out when I was 15. I’m 18 now. I came out to my parents a week after National Coming Out Day. I sat them down and just said it. They told me I was sick and that it wasn’t real and that they wanted to take me to get fixed. My parents were not proud. When I came out they shunned me but now they’re just tolerating me. They don’t bring it up or anything. It’s so awkward all the time living at my house.

The picture of the blond girl (sorry can't remember her name) at the end with her dad warmed my heart. THAT is the perfect picture of a dad loving his daughter no matter what. Even though he had a hard time with it, he eventually came around after the PULSE shooting, and let her know he still loved her unconditionally....because that's what parents are supposed to do....love their kids NO MATTER WHAT. I know having your kids come out could potentially be a difficult thing to deal with, especially if you are from a generation that is not accepting, or you just don't know a lot about it. But being a good loving parent takes over that, or at least it should, and you just take your kid in your arms and love them and tell them it's ok....because it's ok. Love to all of you still struggling or hurting. It's ok, and you'll be ok.

Vicky is Weird Well I'll try to help as much as I can cause I'm actually straight and don't really know what it's like but honestly if your mom doesn't accept it then you need to find a way to get her to love you for who you are. And if she still doesn't accept it then it's not worth it, she is going to have to live with it whether she likes it or not. She'll warm up because if she really loves you, she'll get past your sexuality even though she may not agree with it. And if not then there will always be someone out there who loves you for who you are, not who you love. Keep you head up and I'm sure it will all work out in time.

When I came out to my mother as non-binary, it went something like this: Me: "I'm non-binary." Mother: "No, you're not." It's hard, being rejected for who you are. I'd only identifed as non-binary for a few months and had only figured out the term recently. Before, I only thought that I could be a girl because I didn't feel like a guy, but I was different from every other girl at school, and I had only played with boys. I was a lot like a girl for a while, over the years I must've brainwashed myself into thinking that I liked to wear skirts. Eventually, as I fully transitioned, I found out that I didn't like skirts, it wasn't the identity that made me stop liking skirts, it was the realisation. You know how when you were younger, most of you would pretend to be animals? It was kinda like that. These are some of the things that I want to say in my letter to my mother, so I don't have to face her directly, get my statements cut off, constantly have to contridict what's she says or just awkwardly stay silent as she talks about me being confused.

Never did I ever think I would come out to my Mexican parents, and never did I think my mom would be the first one to break the silence and say “Do you think that is going to change the way we love you? Because it’s not”. But I did and my mom did say that. My parents accepted me con puro amor ♥️🌈 I say this because I had the privilege to come out to them a couple weeks ago and I NEVER thought I would. I’m first generation, and they’re as Mexican and traditional as it gets. Until I felt safe enough to come out and got the unexpected response. This was a video that really helped me come to terms with coming out to them so thank you, and I hope other Latinx people feel more inspired to be who they are ♥️🌈

But I still don't know if I should tell her though that I'm Bisexual because she also said that she wouldn't agree with our BAD decisions but she would still love us because we would be still her child so idk. When my mom thinks of people being gay she always thinks about the sexual aspect of it and not the love aspect. Idk should I tell her I need advice

"Coming out is a luxury" I totally understood it, where i live coming out means a lot of troubles and sometimes the decision between your future and your freedom become extremly harder when you have people around you who wants to destroy your life only cuz you're different. I envy so much the freedom of certain places of the world and i really want them to be happy... for us... the ones who fight to don't get hurt just for our sexual orientation.

The woman with the blonde short hair has the coolest aura and look ever. She looks like she should be a part of an urban fashion magazine photoshoot.

The man from Chile his story made me tear up. I want to make sure I'm supportive because who are we to judge whoever someone loves?

omg this made me cry so hard... it really hits home I'm outed as non binary to some friends & my sister and most of them accept it especially my best friend (who is ftm). He was the first i came out to over a year ago and i'm so glad i did, because he's always there to support me no matter what

to all my gay, lesbian, bi, trans, pan, and all those in between. whether you are out or not. you're not alone. I came out at 22 to my sister who told me it was ok. I finally came out to my mom and she had/still has a hard time. regardless I don't regret coming out. it was the best thing for me. I never felt like myself till that day.

This is the best video, it shows perfectly that not everyone is lucky enough to come out and be excepted.

Im lesbian and im mexican. I was scared to tell my mom but i eventually told her and she told me that im not and that i was confused. But i already had a girlfriend at the time and well. Months passed and we never brought it up until like 3 months ago she was going through my phone and she saw a picture of my girlfriend and i holding hands and well she told my dad and my dad told me that he doesnt want to hear me liking girls. My mom eventually came to accept it so were okay about it now. My aunt and cousins know they're all cool about it. They dont really care except my dad. But thank god my mom accepts me 💗🌈
