The mere act of eating has become so complicated 😢

Many of the foods I was raised on fills the criteria. My mother said I'm not wasting money on junk. We had a garden and ate from that. A big bowl of nuts + a nut cracker was standard. A few tweaks from there is pretty healthy.

If you watch carnivore diet channels the researchers, professors, holder of multi PHD's they will guarantee you that neither meat nor fat are inflammatory but vegetables are extremely inflammatory and the cause of numerous ailments. Can we trust either clan ? Low carb and omnivorous seems to be a safe approach to me. 😊

ignore it all. too much over thinking.if you eat a normal natural diet - animals and plants, in their natural state - cooked gently and plenty of raw salads and fruits, and nuts, you will be fine.

A lot of upvotes but actually not really true - Govts around the world have always suggested veggies , water,fruit lay of junk etc. Without checking most govts would advise a mediterranean type diet . A Med type can be made to vary quite a lot eg amount of carbs, from vegan to vegetarian to more meat ( fish , chicken and some red meat ) . Yes the USA govt because of pressure and bad research promoted sugar over fats in the 1970s, but hardly the case now and sugar wasn't high on that list to eat anyway - eg cake/biscuits sparingly . No diet I know promotes sugar , except as whole fruit . Even most on Keto will eat some berries as positives outweigh the small sugar hit There is no perfect one size diet for everyone. The one overriding factor is no matter the diet , keeping your weight down and exercising can have the most benefit ( ignoring garbage food ) Ie people live to 90 plus on a huge variation of daily food I definitely think carbs are not as bad a people make out , I'm sure i could live to a healthy 90 on sweet potato, pumpkin, brown rice, beans, sourdough and wholemeal. rye bread etc + lots of fruits even ones like bananas - i mean people live to 100 only eating lots of bread, rice , or potatoes as their main source of carbs . Plus would hate to be on a ketone diet from a child to 30 with all the activity i did - spent 12 years travelling the world , I ate the food of that country and lived my life - it was even hard to not lose weight to 12% BF in some of the countries I travelled in - eg Amazonas in Brazil with nearly 100% humidity or overland through Africa for over a year Too many on here full of fear - not saying you are in particular , just realise not having your perfect diet every day is not that important vs living your life

@@nimblegoat I agree except I do remember back in the ‘70s, my dad switched from butter to margarine based on government health recommendations at the time, I think?, and of course it turned out that most margarines weren’t nearly as healthy as butter. My mother was more a ‘health nut’ who followed Adele Davis and she used to get milk high in butterfat from the milkman, called Golden Guernsey milk. She believed in healthy fats.

I get all my omega 3 from flaxseeds and chiaseeds. The ALA converts (enough) to DHA and EPA. I consume them fleshly ground, 2 or 3 tbs a day. Helped me get rid of fibromyalgia. 💪🏻

This let the advice down I feel - algae, flaxseed,chiaseed,hempseed,walnuts - all great sources of omega which the body can use to create what you need. I don't dispute fish, I'm just saying it's not the only source ❤
@dylansig
@dylansig 4 күн бұрын
Only around 10% of ALA is converted, and since Omega 6 compete with Omega 3 for the same enzyme in the body you barely get omega 3 from nuts and seeds.

THANK YOU! for making a shorter version of Prof Philip Calder interview. It was very good. There were a few lapses into eat EPA ? what is EPA I am not sure my local supermarket stocks it unless it is known by another name. The character Alice from the Vicar of Dibley if someone like her could sit in on these interviews that might be very helpful, she could then ask which shelf is the EPA on? etc. What people really want are short simple instructions. Eat kippers, sardines, salmon, etc. Extra Virgin olive oil 4 spoons per day is the right amount. If you give people simple to follow advice you will have no problem increasing your subscribers. One last one. I learnt that Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day a few days ago. That was a myth put out by the Kellogg's brothers to sell corn flakes. Since then I have tried going without and I am still alive!

If we just eat natural foods, we’ll be doing pretty well. Fruits and vegetables, eggs and protein from meats, or beans and vegetable combining to get all the amino acids, fat from healthy sources like olive oil, etc. But I am too simplistic probably. This is an interesting video.

Indeed, and it's then not about "slowing down absorption of fats and sugars to limit their harm", rather to absorb these compounds at the natural rate. The underlying issue being that the natural intake of fiber is 100 grams per day, not the RDA of 40 grams per day, let alone the 20 grams a day most people are getting. It's then just like breathing pure oxygen, which can damage the lungs. But there is no damage when breathing normal air. And as you point out, there is no harm getting fats and sugars from real foods.

@@Cervin_Suisse The only downside is the time it takes to make salads with lots of ingredients every day 😀 But worth it. Nutrient Science study I have seeb say that unprocessed foods is slowly absorbed/processed and extracts the most nutrients out of the foods. Processed foods and supplements is quickly absorbed but these nutrients like vitamins and minerals will mostly get rejected by the metabolism by the gut and kidneys. Why? The metabolism tries to balance the nutrients can only do it efficiently at a slower speed than highly processed foods does so the metabolism expels nutrients that is fortifying /added to highly processed foods. When natural fibers help slow down the digestion it helps the metabolism absorb the food's nutrients.

What about chia seeds instead of fish? Is this an equivalent source of omega-3? Or are there other options besides chia seeds that vegans and vegetarians can use that are more effective? Edit: algae has both dha and epa comparable to fish. In case anyone is interested. I did the research. Chia seeds have ala which is converted into the same compounds as that in fish, but it’s not as close to fish oil as algal oil.

Isn’t fish EPA/DHA ultimately obtained from plants (i.e., algae)? Why not preferentially go straight to that source instead of ingesting microplastics and heavy metals in fish and worsen overfishing?
@KB-jz2zn
@KB-jz2zn 19 күн бұрын
because the ALA you get from plants is converted to useable DHA very poorly in the human body, about 10% only. You just can't get enough. Seaweed has small amounts of EPA/DHA but you would need to eat a huge amount daily to get enough.

The real Zoe crime is that your message is correct, you just fail to get it across and as a result leave the field open for the lunatics. You are the elitists to the TikTok thugs. Be more direct and shorter, use graphics and text highlights. B- but progress.
