Stronger sway bar will help with your handling in the wind. I got the ORO swayloc. Instantly improved my handling… only lost about an inch or two of flex on the disengaged position from completely removing the swaybar.

I have 4.88 ratio' in my Rubicon. However I have an L-83 Gen 5 V8. I'm calculating 19.3 MPG with the GMC 8 speed transmission. The tire size is 37"". RPM at 70 is 2200. 2 door.

The new 8 speed is nice. I have a 2015 automatic with 4.88 gears and 35s. Mine gets 14 mpg running 2,900 rpm at 70 mph.

So the question is what mileage did you get after installing the 35's but still running 4.10s (b4 the gear swap)? Reason I ask is I have a 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon (48K miles) and I installed 35's last year but still running the 4.10 stock gears. I'm getting about 12mpg, but going to 35s without gear swap makes my fifth gear largely unusable other than absolute level ground. I have the 5-speed manual. Looking at going to either 4.56 or 4.88 gears and wondering if I'll gain a little MPG since I'm outside the target RPM band and have to get pretty heavy into the throttle to keep up my speed...., especially in hilly terrain. Going to a lower gear will put me closer into the band and I will not need to get into the throttle like I currently do. Not sure though. In the end, going to 35s put me between 1-2 lower MPG but I'm hoping to gain at least half that back by re-gearing. How do you think the gear swap will affect my mileage?

Thanks for the video, I’ve been debating between 4.56 or 4.88 for my JLU with a 2.0. Not sure I plan on going 37s as 35s feel like plenty for now for my wheeling.

I'm debating the same thing. I still haven't made my decision yet.

@@alfa8822 I ended up choosing 4.56s. Probably gonna stay on 35s either way. Gonna have the shop install them on monday the 23rd along either an eaton e locker in the rear.

@@gabrieldalcomune3044 do you usually carry a lot of gear inside your jeep? I don’t plan on pulling a trailer but I will have a roof top tent and overlanding gear in the back.
@gabrieldalcomune3044 Жыл бұрын
@@alfa8822 Nah my jeep stays very light most of the time. If I go out to the trails at most it’s some tools, food, and water. Working getting a few spare parts to keep in the stockpile in case anything breaks while i’m away from home. Mostly shafts and tie rod ends I wanna have ready. That and with a 2.0, IF i do go to 37s it’s not that bad RPM wise apparently. A few XRs on the forum still get 8th gear with 37s and the 2.0.

I went with 4.56 and now wish i would have went with 4.88's. I'm thinking of spending the 2500 to go to 4.88's. I do a lot of mountain pass driving and off road driving in the mountains i feel like i don't have enough gears some times. I own a 2014 Wrangler JKU sport Yukon limited slip in the rear and Eaton turetrac up front.

Hello, like the video! Have you noticed any jerking when slowing down? I’ve heard a few people say that they have had jerking when the transmission shifts down after going to 4.88s

No, I’ve not noticed anything like that. Drives very well with the 4.88 gears.

I have the same tires and gear ratio on my 2024 JLRU… I’m getting about 15.8 miles per gallon… ( Mostly driving in M8/D8)…I think I would do better if I had mostly miles and miles or flat terrain, rather than the uphill and downhill that I constantly have to deal with here, in New Brunswick, Canada…

My 2014 JKU wrangler sport had 3.27 gears from the factory. Do a Vin number look up on line for Jeeps and that should tell you what gears you have or go a Dodge dealer let them run the vin and can tell what the gears are. You call any Dodge dealer too.
