Thank you for being so positive about these types! I feel, in the MBTI community, a lot of people are very, unfairly, overwhelmingly negative about these types. You helped me realise that being an ESTJ is not a bad thing and I'm not an unfeeling robot who just bosses people around.

Okay, I am an ENTJ woman. What pissed me off the most from my parents are they always tell me what to do. They raised me as if I am ESTJ. And anyway, I've always loved photography and poetry. I think your analysis is spot on. Thanks, this is very useful.

When CS said, “parents treating their child as another MBTI type is terrible,” I realized that this saying has a lot of power. It’s terrible that people are treated and forcefully engrained to think one way that differs, even completely, to how they should naturally think. To who they truly are, and who they truly are meant to be.

It took me aaaages to learn my type because I was confronted with a shadow response due to trauma early in life… I thought I was INTJ, enfj, entj, etc… even istp & estp! But my earliest memories of my natural self were verrry classic estj. The trauma spun me into an infp cultivation. I was literally water-fasting and deep into Tibetan Buddhism in my teens… I was great at helping others get to their inner truth, as a guide. But I hesitantly began to accept I’m estj at work (exacting quality control technician), home (judge, jury executioner of those who act outside of decency in an egregious manner) and aspirationally (USMC reservist officer hopeful). Others are repeatedly shocked at my memory and my severity in execution, but I do struggle with knowing I’m the character I already exude. It’s such an unexpected result.

Omg you have no idea how much this video helped me... I tested as ENTJ and then ESTJ and I've been so confused and stressed about where I fall... but you've made me realise that I am indeed an ENTJ. You're explanations are so clear and understable compared to all of the very technical type of explanations. I love your use of real world examples. ♥️ You had me at short term memory and wanting things... lmao I hate it when people tell me what to do 🤡

To be honest I've been looking for an answer whether I'm an ESTJ or ENTJ, because I learn something new just by "connecting the dots" (Ni) and also I'm also constantly worried of my physical appearance (Si). As you said that ENTJ are very vulnerable to this "covert contract" trap and you explained it a little bit, I realize "I subconsciously do it all the time." That's why I'm constantly quickly disappointed with people I've just met. I really regret it and give my best to not do it anymore. Also I have an pretty bad long-term memory, so reminders, alarm clocks, and my notes are my best buddies I can't live without. As I only have Te, I need people with Ti to help me digesting some deep information. Now I know that I'm ENTJ.. Thank you so much, Chase. You've got a new subscriber! cheers! :)

We can't know how we will feel/react to a situation until we've actually experienced it. So being asked to pre-guess whether we will enjoy a career is impossible for us. I had to just temp in about 15 different fields in my 20s before I found the right one for me. Then study in my free time to get the required qualifications for that career path. There was no way I could have known I'd enjoy it until I actually did it.

@@LDT7Y Okay, reading your reply, I think that I am an ESTJ. I'll be so hopeful of something being for me, but once I test it out it's just completely not for me. I've been telling myself to just try out a million different occupations and different partners since I've noticed this pattern in my life. I'm learning more about personality types so that I can "figure out who I am" and "figure out what I want." Now I'm unsure if that'll even help or if I'll need to continue field testing instead.

What people don’t understand about ExTJs is we demand respect. We work hard for other people constantly and we earn respect. If you disrespect us expect to be disrespected in return. Fi inferior will not allow for anyone to make us feel bad. We need empathy and emotional validation; it’s not a want it’s out greatest need. This is not the same thing as giving advice. If you are trying to be “nice” keep in mind, Empathy or sympathy is not an excuse to assert yourself on people. That’s a selfish covert contract. Unless you are asked what do you think, what do you want, how do you feel, or what is your experience in a similar situation keep it to yourself. Don’t make us feel worse by disrespecting us by insinuating we are incompetent or stupid when we just feel bad by default. Expect us to escalate in anger. If your not sure how to validate feelings leave Fi inferior alone or unfortunately you will have to deal with rage. We would rather isolate than be overwhelmed emotionally but if you provoke Fi inferior to anger expect intense anger. If you want your inferior function respected by us give us the same courtesy.

Agree with everything and YES thank you for the conversation on memory - I am completely dependent on my technology to manage my personal relationships. I literally have a salesforce so I can remember people's birthdays or kids' births or whatever just because people are so sensitive when you forget these things and I do need relationships to be successful but man - I can't even attempt to store that type of shit in my head on my own Listen to an ESTJ tell a story and it will take forever. They'll start at the beginning, tell you everything including the unimportant things. An ENTJ will tell you the point of the story first -then, in telling you the story they'll only share the pieces of the story that support the point. ESTJ will tell you the day of the week or time of day it was when it's entirely irrelevant to the point. Both types hate incompetence, but ENTJ's are especially impatient - we like to make decisions, and make them once, ESTJ's are more thorough decision-makers, but do not like moving forward as fast as we do. Finally, ENTJ's Ni questions authority - often undermines authority - ESTJ's SI is more likely to respect authority and defer to authority.

As an ESTJ, this needing to be told what to do is too familiar and a source of great stress for me. I have this going in several areas of my life. I will ask someone who I feel is an expert or someone I respect about what to do and then collect several more opinions. Then the opinions contradict each other or putting them into play ends up not feeling right for me and I'm left with over thinking and chaos in my head not knowing where to turn. Adults shouldn't have to rely on others for the answer to everything. I want to be able to trust myself but as you say, I don't know what I want. What's the answer? What makes this more confusing is that there are areas of my life that I very much know what I want. I always know were I want to go to dinner and what kind of house I want to live in for instance.

Same! After graduating in Uni, ai have no idea what to do. I even told my friend I hope there is a step by step manual in life to be successful so I can proceed with doing that efficiently. I was basically waiting for someone to tell me what to do next so I can do it exceptionally well. I have always been dutiful to what my parents wanted and all I know is that I have to excel but i never stopped and asked myself if I wanted it. In general, i just want financial success. What makes me happy has always been trivial to me. Alas, life is not like that and I had to go through a lot of mjstakes before becoming successful. However, i am thankful of the experience because I can now mentor my younger siblings on how to manage their career better.

@18:11 I have seldom heard Ni described as such since I have presumed from others that it is a perceiving function. To be specific, I had gathered from other sources that Ni is for pattern recognition and the Te function is mostly about effectiveness and efficiency towards a perceived objective. However, you seem to be describing Ni as a pathfinder function. Also, this is the first time I have heard Ni described as memorty of the future which is cool. . . never thought of it that way, but it make sense. For fashion advice, you should continue wearing your shirt in the same manner with one button loose. That seems to be the best look for you 👍👌.

I'm conflicted. 1) Although I feel more like an ESTJ (being interested in the philosophy of things), before I discovered all the self-development stuff, it's almost as if I was astonished by the art of things - for example, every detail when it comes to basketball and physical exercising. 2) However, I discovered self-dev before even turning 16, is it possible that through nurture I've become an ESTJ? Duty and self-discipline have really been key in my upbringing, almost as if bestowed upon me by my parents and I'm definitely someone who loves routines. 3) I do indeed like being told what to do (as I like seeking all the opportunities first before committing to one), but I remember as a kid and even now at 21 years of age I hated being told what to do, especially things that I didn't WANT to do, which I find is a bit of a paradox. 4) I can definitely see myself as an INFP, but I feel that as a kid I used to see myself as more of an ISFP. I was very turned off by everything that sounded "spiritual".

So there’s one website that tells me I’m an ESTJ and several of the rest say ENTJ. Your video about ENTJs was like a genius picture of me recognising things even I had never recognised. I’m conflicted too. But a big and I mean big part of me just can’t live with the fact that there’s a possibility that I’m an ESTJ. Almost as if it’s defeat. I’d very much appreciate it if you’d clear me on that. Feel free to ask anything that’d help you understand. Although I must confess when I first attempted the test on the website it said ESTJ, I worked on developing my Ni function which was already ~half developed. There is one certainty though. I can’t be told what to do. I like to have my options. Sometimes to the limit that I become a rebel. And when the pressure is high and I have no choice, I would end up ignoring the whole situation and do something I shouldn’t be doing just to I guess confirm to myself that no I do have options. Which is very twisted.

Same for me I recently got estj but I still feel like fundamentally I relate to ENTJ’s more my one thing is that I have a good memory (not sure long or short term) when it comes to revision and school but I tend to be forgetful of other things .. I am also not very “what if” tbh cuz I tend to stick to logic but at the same time the whole intuitive function I can relate too it’s very confusion

Female thinkers have a more intuitive nature than male thinkers, meaning that you know you're very intuitive, but that could lead you to think youre entj while youre not. If you don't have one definitive way you want your life to go towards, criticising all of the trajectories which are inferior to it which others choose and choosing your actions based on the longterm trajectory youre shooting for, youre not an entj. Also for entjs long term vision is linked to Fi, while for estjs Si(memories or subjective imprints) are linked to Fi.

Oh boy, you aren't wrong about the ESTJ wanting things. I just put a random idea into my ESTJ partner's head about a puppy I was looking at and boom, next week I had him once he had decided that he wanted him as well. I would have procrastinated for way longer than the dog would have gone to someone else. ESTJ partner with an ENTJ mother, pretty sure they are both typed correctly even though my mum thinks she is and ENTP. She needs to watch these lectures.

When was the last time I questioned my intelligence? That may sound Dunning-Kruggish, but I can't remember at all. I just don't get the Ti nemesis part where you mention how ENTJs worry about their own intelligence. I can easily look at facts, data, statistics, others' opinions and verify whether they are committing fallacies/being logically congruent/unbiased. It's not stressful at all. In fact, not checking out and verifying whether the information is true or false (to me) is stressful because I despise delivering information that could be biased/erroneous. It just comes naturally. I ask for others' takes on the issue because I want to see whether I am missing out any perspectives and whether there are more optimal paths to be taken, which I then discern through internal (does it make sense/is it logically correct) and external (is it applicable and empirical) means whether the perspective is right or wrong/useful or not. Finally, back when I used to participate in the Discord chat, what I came to conclusion was that I enjoyed way more discussing with supposedly Te users, as opposed to Ti users. It just seemed to me that Te was much unbiased in its way of thinking while Ti was so sure that they were right in accordance to their inner way of looking at things, which made them ridiculously stubborn and annoying to deal with, so I also can't relate too much on preferring to interact with Ti users to feel smart.
@tajmarie1329
@tajmarie1329 6 жыл бұрын
I agree to an extent of the first paragraph (My participation on the Discord has been fairly limited). The only difference is that I have Ti critic as opposed to Ti nemesis. Being in engineering, energy, and modeling, I am highly cynically of models unless I understand the physics, the conditions, the boundary conditions, as well as the assumptions. Even when looking at news clips, I lean towards independent sources because I know that most sources are skewed and inconsistent. Analyzing is not stressful for me as long as I have sufficient time. However, supporting unverified information is stressful. As for Ne, nemesis, I am naturally mistrustful of people's intentions. However, I don't do loyalty checks as others may have. I pretty much watch people and their actions like a hawk in the same way an autistic person watches an illusionist or a magician. It is not so much that I care or want to be observant, but the fact that I don't have much of a choice if I want to understand other people's motivations.

I have some ENTJ but I’m leaning wildly toward ESTJ. I think there is something you’re overlooking. It’s not that I want to be told what I to do because I can’t or shouldn’t make decisions. It’s because I’m impatient and don’t want to listen. So give me the bottom line that is practical so I don’t have to deal with feelings. If it’s about walking through your reasoning, that is not important because I either am loyal to you or I’m not. So if I’m loyal, I don’t need your reasoning. But if I’m not loyal, I won’t care about your reasoning (for the most part). Reasoning is only important for me in the following instances: - it pertains to my plans - if your idea sounds so dumb I would never be onboard with it and you have to prove it to me. I make large decisions all the time without issue so that seems like where the ENFJ steps on or *gasp* there is an issue with this theory. Also, thank you for complimenting my body. So true. 😀

It's helpful to type them, observe your children when they're with other children, but don't just do it once, verify it so you don't act on bad info. Or you could just book a typing session for you and them and get it over with.

ENTJ here and... could not disagree more about art&philosophy. ENTJ has to be more philosophical, as it is pure abstract thinking. I do agree about the morals, almost asking myself for true motivations and their morality. Also: long term memory is fine, that is why we can be scientists. It is shortterror memory for daily life that we Suck at, completely forgetful about that stuff. It is about prioritising what to remember. We can remember whole conversation but not what we wanted to grab from the room we just entered.

The first time I watched one of your videos I was totally lost. I am slowly grasping what you say in your videos. I have much more to read and learn. Anyway, can you help me with a question. I have taken three tests online from different sources. The results initially indicated that I am an ENTJ. However, I also received a result of ISTJ. The third result was ESTJ. These tests were all taken within the same month. Is it possible that I am on the border for all these or am I just not being honest in my answering of the questions, or am I just not taking the best test. If that is the case can you refer me to the best site to take this test to really figure out my personality. When I saw my result of ENTJ and saw the description I thought that a lot of the characteristics matched who I was. My wife does not think everything is accurate. The more I look into it I worry that I am reading a result and just finding the similarities and therefore accepting that I wasn't ENTJ. when I read the ISTJ I can see a lot of similarities there as well. I know this is based on research but sometimes I worry it is like astrology. I know that's not the case but I'm still confused on what my personality really is. If you could help that would be awesome!

I have, heavily. I've subscribed, sent in my email, the works. As well as watched a number of your videos and looked into the functions on a personal basis. I find myself to be more direct then Informative, and significantly more responding than initiating. If these remain to be true observations, according to the type grid, I should fall within the see it through types, and here lies the issue. My internal debate on my own morality, if a product of Fi child does not exist anywhere besides these two types. The type I believe myself to be, based on function, and not some some poorly described internet opinion piece, is an ISTJ, with some former debate whether I might be InTj. I do believe I have Te, and based on my general behavior, Fe is pretty absent. I can play an extrovert, but its a sham job . I prefer one on one, two on one interactions, or even being alone far more as group events tend to drain me. I only really initate if I'm in charge, or very close to someone. What does Fi child look like in your experience?

One time I was hanging out with a, "Friend" and his friend (My acquaintance) came over to chill. My, "Friend" was busy playing games, he barely even acknowledged me or his friend when we came over expecting us to just sit around and watch him. So naturally I started talking to his friend and hanging with him while he continued playing his game by himself. Eventually his friend left and it was just me, him, and his girlfriend. He finished playing his game and got up to talk (after his friend had already left he engaged), his intent was to find something to get angry at me for. He was offended that I took away the attention he so desired, he snapped at me and acted completely out of his normal character. I was confused at first and then I pieced together what had happened, he was a narcissist (There were a lot of initial warning signs I had seen prior to this instance). I calmed him down and took charge (Since he wanted to act like a child, I treated him like one) I said, "Why don't we sit down and make a D and D character together?" He was a DM or GM so he was happy to start that, I then made the most unique character he had ever seen. I (with his help) made a whole new variation of a race that made it entirely unique as well as giving the character properties and equipment that made it something never seen before. I discussed past disagreements with him while doing this intermittently (even though we were having fun he would become instantly irrational and furious, again I just took a parental role and didn't allow it). Once I realized there was no way to make the situation favorable to me in any way I finished up the character. I then talked about future possibilities with the character and fun character quirks, until I could find a natural opportunity to ask for a ride home. I haven't spoken with him since, he never got to see the character that he was so excited about used in any capacity. I baked him a poison cake. P.S. his girlfriend was actually apologizing for his behavior to me, he was that out of line.
