Hi Miss! Thank you for taking the time to give these revision techniques. Although these tactics are amazing, I'm not sure how to review and consolidate the information I'd put into the table/s. Usually I use flashcards, how would you recommend I go about this? For context, I'm currently in year 12. Thank you!

This video is really helpful, thank you! However, i have a question: does quoting a historian count as a solid and reliable evidence in your essay answer? Or are statistics and facts better? Thank you in advance!
@HistoryRevisionSuccess2 жыл бұрын
Statistics and facts are better to prove your argument. The historian is to enhance it/or provide an easier way to critique that position. The historian adds sophistication and a level above to try but the a*, but shouldn’t replace any of the core elements of the essay like evidence and analysis!

Thanks for the tips but it is a bit challenging when I do Edexcel which is very different
@HistoryRevisionSuccess2 жыл бұрын
A good point! The video is targeted at the AQA course, correct. However the Edexcel courses ask essentially the same questions - if you compare the argument based essay questions for AQA and Edexcel they are in the same format. I wouldn’t necessarily approach revision differently due to the course - the concepts and methods should remain the same. Was there something specific you were unsure/confused about from the video for your course?

Hi! Thank you so much for this! I just have a few questions about organising a theme into key questions and so forth. If my theme is Henry VII's foreign policy and my key question is "How successful was Henry's foreign policy" would it be correct for my sub questions to be "How successful were Henry’s treaties?, How successful were Henry’s marriage alliances? and How was Henry’s relationship like with other foreign countries?" and then leading to my factors being "How successful was the Treaty of Redon? How successful was the Treaty of Medina Del Campo, involving a marriage alliance? and Describe the nature of England’s relationship with France during Henry VII’s reign?" (and other similar sentences) leading to my analytical points being sentences like "the Treaty of Medina Del Campo was successful in treating Henry VII's foreign policy because...." and "the Treaty of Medina Del Campo WASN'T successful in treating Henry VII's foreign policy because...." and so forth. Would this be correct? Thank you so much!
@HistoryRevisionSuccess3 жыл бұрын
You could absolutely do it that way. Considering under Henry VII the big issue is really how far foreign policy helped to secure succession/the dynasty (as much of his reign is about this) I would instead think of this as the key question. (It is essentially the same as you put, just with a more precise evaluation point). So, something like - how successfully did foreign policy establish the succession and Tudor dynasty? Then you could consider the effectiveness of treaties, marriage alliances, role of foreign powers in rebellion. Factors wise you could do it thematically so your factors would be - treaties, marriage alliances etc. Or, by country. Or do it one way, then copy paste the information around to theme it the other so you can visually see how the points can be moved. Hope this was helpful!
